  1. Ok I will check it before buying. So if it only was chips in one side it's a no-go for that mobo...
  2. I'm gonna meet with the seller this week. How can I check if it was the memory chips on both sides or only one one ?
  3. Are you fully sure about the ram having memory chips only in one side ?
  4. It actually was 4 slots. 2 for DDR2 and 2 for DDR3 (Asus P5G41C-M LX)
  5. Well I have 2 gb of DDR2 so I think it will be a bit of an upgrade. Also the mobo is for 1333 DDR3 but the 1600 ram should work fine right ?
  6. Building a Q6600 computer from scratch just for fun...

  7. Hello, I was gonna buy some ram for my build and I found 8gb (2x4) of DDR3 HyperX Fury 1600mhz for 20 euros. I think 20 euros is extremely low for that type of ram and it might be a fake. Do you know any form of checking for a fake ram stick ? Thanks in advance
  8. Thanks everyone for the help and replies. Maybe I will post the full build for fun if there's a website section for it. Thanks again and have a great day.
  9. I paid 20 for the mobo and 5 for the chip (old ram was free)
  10. Well I built this for retro gaming (and a bit for fun) because I do have my main rig (i7-6700k 16gb DDR4 GTX 1060.....)
  11. Well.... Too late. I knew it sucked but I tought for 40 bucks it was worth it. Nvm. At least it wasn't a bad exprience for my first build.
  12. My mobo does support DDR3 too. But my budget doesn't allow for it. I tought it was great idea doing a q6600 build (for emulation and web browsing) from almost scratch but it turns out it actually sucks and I wasted money. Every thing was working great until the PSU killed my old mobo and I needed to replace both...
  13. Well after looking on Ebay/Aliexpress and making sure it wasn't ECC I found a lot of listings for 6 or 7 EUR
  14. Do you think it will make a big impact on mostly normal tasks ?
  15. Right now I can buy the 2x2 or 1x4 for the same price.
  16. Hello, I have a q6600 machine (Win 10 x64) with 2x1gb of DDR2 ram. I wanted to upgrade and I wonder if it's better to buy 1x4gb stick and use 1gb of the old ram or buy 2x2 and not use the old ram (mobo has only 2 slots). The old ram is 667mhz and the new ram is 800. Thanks in advance and sorry if I don't respond right away because it's close to midnight at the time of posting this.
  17. Hello, I recently bought a Q6600 and I have a old intel stock cooler (copper base 0.6A fan) and wanted to know if it can give me stable temperatures with it overclocked to 3ghz. Thanks in advance.
  18. Thank you everyone for the replies. I think I'm still gonna stick with the i3 (because of the budget) but change from 1650 to a RX 570. Have a great day.
  19. Can't he always upgrade to an i5 for example ?
  20. The problem is that money is really short for him and I don't think he will be upgrading in less than an year and he doesn't really want to be playing in low or medium settings...
  21. Well the problem is that he wants to start playing GTA V on High and he's really short on money so he will probably only upgrade anything in probably a year...
