  1. Just built my son a 3600X with a ROG Strix B-450F combo and it worked out of the box. Bought the MB on Black Friday from Amazon, and the box had no mention of 3rd Gen Ryzen and the bios was not up-to-date.
  2. Yes. I assume it would be best to use a VM like unRaid. Home office for work/data analytics, basement for video creation, living room for gaming. I will also need NAS.
  3. I am not really a budget person on things like this, but I would say less than $5k. Value is most important to me. Kind-of like comparing a Ferrari to a Corvette...sure the Ferrari is nicer, but with a few mods, the Corvette will destroy it on the strip for a third of the price.
  4. Forum Newbie, but long time LTT viewer here. I am currently looking for suggestions for my personal/multi-room/multi-purpose build. I recently built my two kids new gaming rigs, and now I am ready to build myself something. I currently work in manufacturing/distribution as planner/analyst, and am considering venturing out on my own as a consultant and/or contractor. My hobbies are woodworking and smart home tech installation, and I have been contemplating starting a Youtube channel that marries the two with lighting, hidden cameras, smart furniture, etc. I am also a casual gamer, so I would like to build a system that is able easily handle BI software like Tableau, edit video, and game. I plan to build in a centrally located and ventilated closet in my house. I want to be able to work in my home office, woodwork/video creation in my basement, and game in my living room. I don't want to break the bank, but I would like something that is good with the ability to upgrade as needed. Also, I plan to custom water cool with direct ventilation in and out of the closet. All suggestions(within reason) are appreciated. Edit: I would want to allocate a small amount of resources for home automation using Home Assistant. Also, in most instances, I will only be doing one thing at a time, so I am not sure if I need a Threadripper or if a Ryzen 9 will suffice or their Intel counterparts. I am not a fanboy. I just want the most performance for my money.
