My current laptop is a HP Zbook 15 g3 with an Intel core i7 6820hq. It’s quite chunky and the processor will run at very high percent usage during gaming. Looking for around $1500 or lower and I’m in the US.

I’m looking for a good laptop that’s quick and powerful but doesn’t have a dedicated gpu to keep the cost down. I will use it for school and, in combination with the eGPU, for gaming. It needs to have thunderbolt 3 support and preferably have good enough cooling so that there is no thermal throttling during long gaming sessions. My eGPU currently is a Gtx 1070.
