  1. Have you tried turning McAfee off for a while. Anti-virus can have this secure browsing mode, that might slow everything down as it runs live checks of everything...
  2. You can use it to scare birds away from your fruit and berry garden xD.
  3. Are you trying to play at 4K resolution? I believe there is no need to upgrade, being reasonable, just play at 720p... eGPU will always be limited by your mobile CPU.
  4. Only buy if you are obligated to, as in use this computer at work where checks and penalties can occur. You will always want more SSD capacity, but if you don't do windows updates 500GB is enough fur sure.
  5. OP runs 2 different ad blockers at the same time... I always try to setup blocking on DNS level, because my RAM is low as it is. Obviously some crypto wallet haha, disable-HTML to kill clickbait images. OneTab and Tab Limiter to help deal with mess that browsing can become. Tab Save even though I have it disabled right now, pretty decent for when I need such functionality.
  6. I would just stick with English interface. Doubt it's bad translation to blame, but could be. Someone pulling a prank? Never heard of this before. What app is that?
  7. When it gets annoyingly loud. Depends on heavy use or light use, 10 years is not impossible.
  8. You can't judge on how fast internet is based on 1 download... server could be the slow one here. Go to fast.com Can try using download managers like XDM they enable use of more CPU cores, but need to reassemble file once it is downloaded.
  9. Talk about cheap tech, just buy new one. It's not worth the struggle even if it is rewritable.
  10. Check what software starts at boot, things like OpenHardwareMonitor or similar should be able to override the % fan speed, not the curve but fixed percentage of speed. If it's not the problem it could be a temporary fix.
  11. My school only had stationary computer class, portable devices were way too expensive in those days. It was unheard of for school to allow taking computer with you. Fact is many people around here don't have personal computers even today. But smartphones are enough for most tasks. Especially if you can connect to bigger screen and external keyboard. COVID is what forced government to help poor families and buy thousands of laptops for their kids, cuz remote education.
  12. Getting a new high capacity drive and copying important data to it sounds smarter than having so many drives running all the time. Can use at least 1 old drive for backups and keep it unplugged. Docking station or full home NAS might be what you are after.
  13. If problem has only been there for a month, use system restore point. Some other software or recent update might be messing it up. If that doesn't help uninstall the driver in safe mode and install it again.
  14. You will likely connect ton of cables to it, so unless you want to work on the go I would just get a PC. Laptop prices are crazy and performance limited, and noise might hurt the production, if you do recording nearby.
  15. Is there a way to force m.youtube.com to open from bookmark for displaying list of videos, but once you select video to launch, go back to default and play in desktop mode? So far it's either all mobile or all desktop with user agent switching, perhaps I need to use more software? Like redirecting videos to start in FreeTube... hopefully possible with only using browser. Tried to disable auto redirect, but that stopped youtube from loading completely...
  16. Physical dual SIM slots have been around 4 ever. eSIM allows having more than 2, but only 1 eSIM can be active at the time (to switch eSIMs, tap Settings, tap either Cellular or Mobile Data, and then tap the plan you want to use). Physical + eSIM should work fine, but no idea about what functions specific device has in your local market.
  17. If you want capped 60, use fps limiter. If you have less than 60, try playing at lower resolution or drop some details.
  18. I think opening 1 port should be enough. 20000-20100 isn't valid input, try separating by comma 20000, 20001, 20002. Can generate number comma chain in excel or some other software.
  19. Try updating or rolling back the audio driver. Else: are you perhaps running low on free RAM?
  20. Have you thought about accessing server remotely? Might not have to build your own even. It's hard for me to imagine a use case that requires dragging a server along...
  21. There is nothing wrong with using 2 phones... 1 with SIM, other without, can still make Whatsapp calls or whatever. Unless you have someone to give old phone to, who needs it more. Free cheese and all that, might be paranoid, but better remove pre-installed apps on the new free phone.
  22. Is the add-on installed at all? Re-installing it will for sure pop the question, if you want to allow it in private mode...
  23. PS2 keyboard connector might be broken on the old motherboard... Is the hard drive old too? You can't misunderstand "Corrupted files" error. 4 GB of RAM is gonna be slow with win 10 even if you succeed.
  24. Extra then: laptop would need to be super special for me to get new one(like the framework). Never used a plane, not a fan of long travel and as I say work provides their own computer. So I am looking for something to use at home everyday. Current laptop is starting to run out of RAM. RDNA 2 iGPU sounds good, but there are no devices with that yet. Never had Ryzen APU before, I can live without thunderbolt. Limited by space, so I am not planning to have multi monitor setup all the time. Passively cooled devices don't need as much dust cleaning inside them, and I always wondered how a tiny PC with huge heatsink on top of it would look like.
  25. Both have downsides, like thermals and noise of laptops. And extra cables is what comes to mind when thinking about PCs. Obviously smaller screen size uses less power, been using 15.6 inch laptop at home 4 ever and bigger screen sure feels better at work. Viewing angles are non existent, I am sure anything modern would look better. Framework laptop is not available in my region, so I am leaning towards small size PC without graphics card. Have experience with Pi 400 and that's nice passive cooled device, the only downside no full size HDMI port. So I have been looking into monitors somewhere around 21.5 inch, but there are so many model names and hardly any reviews, and that was just samsung products... I don't need display port! HDMI and some older VGA or DVI would be good for compatibility. Monitor should work with my current devices, while I keep looking for more powerful productivity machine. I kinda like touch controls for monitor power, not to be confused with touchscreen. VESA mount just in case I want to flip it 90 degrees. Honestly why all monitors don't have that? I understand extra arm is required. IPS or fancy stuff Linus keeps talking about. No RGB is a big bonus. Skipped all the holiday sales just cuz I can't decide what to get. Also have a crazy idea of removing screen from a laptop and connecting only external one. Keyboard with computer inside sure weighs more than just a keyboard. Thanks if you made it this far into my blahblahbing. Suggest something if you have had good experience with modern products, and feel free to warn others from making a huge mistake.
