  1. thanks, the reason id chosen 2666 is as I looked at the latest apple specs on their website and all the ram is listed at 2666 - I wondered if that's all macOS could use?
  2. Hi, I'm looking to do my first build and have been trying several combinations on pcpartpickerUK - I started looking at Ryzen chips but as I may want to keep the system friendly to macOS for the future I have changed to an intel based processor..... What do you guys think? is this combo going to make a good system for heavy video editing? my budget is between £1000 - £1500 GBP don't need peripherals or monitor (I plan to use my current 27" iMac as a monitor for the time being using thunderbolt (hence the motherboard choice) Intel Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor £473.99 Cooler Master MasterLiquid Lite 240 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler £43.99 Gigabyte Z390 DESIGNARE ATX LGA1151 Motherboard £253.67 Crucial 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory £109.94 Crucial P1 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive £101.97 MSI Radeon RX VEGA 64 8 GB Air Boost OC Video Card £299.99 NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case £68.73 Corsair TXM Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply £71.98 The main thing im not sure of is the graphics card, there is loads with the same spec/name that range in price from 250 - 800 so im not sure what the difference is when they are all vega64 8gb? memory I will upgrade to 64 or maybe 128 in time, but for now this should be ok. what do you guys think? will this make a good video editing/graphics rig? anything I have missed from the list that ive not thought of? thanks jon
  3. Hi, This is my first post here, ive watched plenty of LTT YouTube videos but this is my first time venturing into the forum... I currently use an iMac (27" i5 2013 model) for video editing/photo editing and have recently realised that I just don't have the power I need to work efficiently. SO..... looking at the price of new ones has me turning to building my own, ive been reading and watching a lot of stuff and am currently hovering over several baskets around the internet contemplating hitting BUY! Just thought id run the spec by here to see if anyone more experienced thinks it will be OK or if ive made any obvious errors for a hackintosh build...... processor - i9 9900K processor MB - Gigabyte z390 designate motherboard lga1151 Cooling - coolermaster master liquid lite 240 66.7 cfm RAM - Crucial 2x16GB DDR4-2666 memory (will add more later but trying to keep cost down for initial build a little) drive - Crucial P1 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD graphics - MSI Radeon RX VEGA 64 8 GB Air Boost OC Video Card - (possibly different depending on what's available at checkout time for the right price) power - Corsair TXM Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply next h510 case. thanks for any/all advice - my first build so excited but don't want to mess it up before ive even started.
