  1. Okay I got the new memory...I did notice that I got Mortar Max version so it's different to your after all. It's running 3600Mhz but I got only 1 slot out of 2 showing... I hope I didn't break anything. I try to re-seat the memory.
  2. What a coincidence... I did just order 3600mhz CL18 RAM as well and I thought it would be supported on this same motherboard you got. I'll let you know what happens with mine when I get them. Well I do need more RAM anyway. It would've been a worse gamble to buy 2 random 8GB 3200Mhz sticks (I couldn't find exact same ram sticks anywhere new or 2nd hand) and hope they work together with the rest of the build.
  3. Hey, I've been quite happy about my current PC setup for a while but I've been starting to have issue with running certain RAM hungry games (sometimes I keep 2 games open at a time when other is MMO and other is a single player game). I find myself at 95% memory use quite often especially if I have couple Chrome tabs open on 2nd monitor. So I would like to move from 16GB to 32GB. I'll be getting the memory 2nd hand to save some money (unless there is some good deal on retail which is unlikely to happen). Currently I got "Kingston 16GB (2 x 8GB) HyperX Fury, DDR4 3200MHz, CL16, 1" . My processor is Ryzen 5 3600. This particular brand and model of ram is quite popular here so I can probably find someone selling their pair in a week or two. But the question is that in case that I can't find this exact model 2nd hand, how bad it is to mix different brands as long as the specs are same? If I can find someone selling 32GB kit (16GBx2) at 3600MHz CL18 for a decent price (~20€ cheaper than a new pair), should I get that instead and sell my pair? I'm not sure what is worth it with my current processor. Thank you in advance!
  4. Also if a person got their head in the oven and feet in the freezer the average temperature is "fine" in the middle of the the body. I was more curious about if the hotspot is on VRM/VRAM which is common for RTX 30 series.
  5. Does anyone know where the sensors are typically on GPU? I'd like to also know because I got hotspot always about 12C hotter than avg temperature.
  6. Not much you can do honestly. 83C is the target temperature for RTX 20xx series. Thanks to GPU boost the card will always "aim" there as long as there is power available and it doesn't hit the 83C mark. You can try to undervolt the card to make it hit around 78C but not much lower.
  7. What do you mean by "maxed out"? I did install the java edition too just to see what kind of performance I'd get with 3060ti. The only thing that did change the fps for me was the render distance. At '32 chunks' the game got quite sluggish and around 40 fps. At '12 chunks' render distance it was around 250fps. It's limited by the game engine and not by your hardware. @Torreipis correct when he wrote that MC isn't very well optimized game... Windows Edition is better if you want to get a bigger render distance (32 chunks was running around 70FPS). Personally I dislike Windows Edition because it tries to sell kids all kind of cosmetics and other paid services if you want to join servers (luckily my daughter is still too young to get interested in the shop and she is just happy at chasing cows and horses... I got this version because it has a native controller support).
  8. I used today MemTest64 from TechPowerUp. Got no errors this time. Something did happen and the stutter disappeared randomly... This is quite weird. Now frametimes are fine again and no stutter. I'm sure it will be back at some point and I need to pay attention what I'm doing when it occurs.
  9. My PC just straight up did freeze and I had to turn off PSU from back to do a hard reset. I'll try to run the memory test again and if that doesn't show anything I'll try other XMP profiles or turn it off.
  10. I did buy the memory in a bundle and I did check it and they look identical to me. Memory speed shows 1600mhz on Gpu-Z and Hwinfo but it probably means single card speed. On BIOS it says memory speed is 3200Mhz (dual). I haven't been able to do any memory test tho, some software I did try to use crashed. My first guess was ofc GPU drivers but updating or downgrading and checking power cables didn't help much. I haven't tried to change the cables connected to monitors so I guess that's the next thing. Other thing I've been considering is that I got 2 monitors with different hz connected to GPU. Other one is cheap TN panel 144hz (https://www.acer.com/ac/en/HK/content/model/UM.FX1CF.P01) and other is 2nd hand HP IPS panel 60hz (good quality, it was probably in office use for max 2years).
  11. Hey, I've got weird stutter in some games since GPU upgrade (check sign). First I thought it's the drivers but there seems to be more into it. My frametime jumps around 10ms-70ms all the time and I don't really know where to start the troubleshoot with. (I'm editing the post and accidentally posted it before finished)
  12. I see. I was automatically expecting noise and to be the issue since for me it was the main reason I did want to hinder the performance of the card.
  13. Yeah, just do as @jaslionwrote... Pick only 1 software to use. In general GPUs always run at higher clock speed that what are advertised on websites. I don't remember the technical reason but probably it's partly related to marketing (if they state that all of their chips will run at 1890Mhz but some of them run only at 1800Mhz they will have soon issues with false advertising lawsuits). I understand the frustration @KingSadrais going through. I had this GPU and the noise it was making was quite something. I don't want to bash Asus because they've made good cards also (the one I use atm is really good) but this one was special. Anyway these 2 things you can try to do to tame the card: 1. Open the case for airflow, lower the power limit, lower the target temperature and set a FPS limit. 2. Setup a custom voltage curve to get rid of the factory OC (this is the best method and you don't lose that much performance). I can't believe this TUF card is still haunting me.
  14. Hey, I've been using this software for a while for certain softwares get more performance out of my CPU. However what I don't like is that it automatically turns on "Performance Mode" literally in every Steam game. Games like Paper's Please and Hades definitely don't benefit from having my CPU boosting to max performance (Hades is capped to 9999 FPS or something ridiculous). I've been trying to browse the settings back and fort but I haven't been able to find any way to disable "Performance Mode" when launching games from Steam. Thanks in advance!
  15. People will need more info about your system in order to help. Like what kind of PSU You got, thermals, the case you use, did u check all connections, did u check monitor settings (especially if u use dual monitor) etc. I know that latest Windows update can also cause HUGE fps drop in games for whatever reason and Microsoft did recommend to reroll to older version in case you suffer from performance drops in games. :X Also the PC port for Monster Hunter: World isn't very good what I've experienced. I wouldn't be surprised if it locked itself to 30FPS randomly in the settings. What kind of performance do you get in other games/software?
  16. You shouldn't feel bad about it. He can re-sell the card for the same price if he changes his mind. I did same thing with my RTX 2060 but it was like couple months before the prices started to skyrocket for real. Now I wonder if the guy really used the card for his son's pc or just listed it again for higher... Well I like to believe his son is happy and playing Fortnite or something...
  17. Hello again, just little update to this topic. Those Thermalright coolers I saw earlier were actually for older CPUs and didn't fit to AM4 processors... Too bad. I found a second hand Noctua NH-U12S for 40€ (brand new AM4 installation kit included). I did pick it up so I didn't need to pay for mailing. It's like day and night difference in temperatures and noise... Like full load temps dropped by 10C. I guess the previous cooler just was that much weaker? I don't think the previous paste had dried out since this machine is only 1 year old.
  18. Fuma 2 and Thermalright (Macho Rev C, B, ) coolers are ~60€ . Well my build already isn't exactly most beautiful with their glorious Noctua colors.
  19. Hey, I'm planning to upgrade my low profile CPU cooler with Scythe Mugen 5 Rev.B and it's around 50€ in my country. Seems to be quite decent at cooling and it doesn't get too loud. I don't feel like spending 100€+ to cool down R5 3600. I mainly will need that extra cooling if I decide to start video editing again or start to do some 3d modeling and other processor heavy tasks as my hobby. When rendering the CPU gets quite hot (84C-95C) as it is and I can't run it at 4,2Ghz. My other options that are available are Noctua NH-U12S (chrome black) and be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 which are both around 75€. Is it worth it to extend my budget or stick with Scythe? My main criteria here is to get "pleasant" humming under load and not a jet engine. So decibels are fine but it's about the high-pitches... I've been quite happy with Noctua but I feel like they are bit too expensive for what they give.
  20. Allright, ty for correction. I'll try again if I can change the settings so I won't get issues with that software again.
  21. Nvm I found out that you can also set affinity on Task Manager. So no need to install any "snake oil" software.
  22. Hey, I got bit of issue with one of the games I used to play quite a bit (Black Desert Online). I've had lots of stutter and FPS issues with this game over the years. My main issue now is that the FPS jumps between 30-120, rendering the game unplayable. This same issue repeats when I lock FPS to 60, it will just jump around 10-60 in some places. This is because of "bottleneck" from my Ryzen 5 3600 processor. The game is programmed in a way that it can't utilized threads properly. So I have this funny situation where the game is using only 6 cores at 70% and threads are sitting at 20%. There is way to "fix" this by allocating cores to render game and UI separated (yes, it's stupid I know). This will fix the stutter. However, I don't want to use Processor Lasso for this. I feel kind of unsafe when using it for some reason. Is there any free alternative? I can't run my processor at 4,2ghz with the current cooler I got. It gets too hot (85-95C).
  23. I can help you through it. However I don't think it will make much difference if you pull down both voltage and clock speed of the GPU. But yes it's possible. I did something similar first because I was so scared of breaking the card. Anyway, you can contact me with DM if u wish and I'll walk you through the process. I did spend half year playing around with the voltages so I got it memorized pretty much.
  24. Been there, done that. I've went through exactly the same vicious cycle as you did with that card. Sadly the cooler isn't any good so there isn't much you can do about it. I was able to tolerate the card for 7 months and then I did end up selling it (the buyer did know it's noisy and still wanted it because of GPU shortage). So no, I don't have any profiles left because I'm using a different card. All I got is that old topic and those values I've listed already. It's possible to force the card to lower voltages without overclocking but that's basically downclocking. It's almost same thing you've been doing by adjusting "core clock" slider in Afterburner. You will lose some performance by doing that. I got no idea about GPU tweak but you can always try and see if it works for you. On positive side note, I found myself a new hobby with PC building thanks to this card.
