I'd say they're worth yes. I went from a 3600 & 2060 Super to a 5600x and 3070 FE and I'm getting over 50 extra fps at 1440p. I was shocked at how much of a difference it made.

I actually work for one of the above named companies. The issue is that open reach look after all the infrastructure other than virgin. So no matter who you go with, it's the same speed as its the exact same lines. Just the bill is a different name.

The only alternative to that is FTTP broadband that only really BT and Zen provide, but that's still pretty rare in the UK. Its more rural areas or brand new builds that are getting it.

If you want to DM me the full address, I'll check my work systems and see what is available for you so I can give you a definitive answer?

    My hero.

Thank you for the effort there. I thought that possible could have been the cable but the missing pin threw me. The last thing I wanted was my shiny new 3080 to arrive and I didn't have enough cables.

Awesome though, I'll run the second cable from the psu, and the original cable in place, into the adapter.

Internal cable management looks good. I would get some sleeved extensions to really tidy up the 24 pin, CPU and GPU cables. That will make it looks really nice.

External cable management for what I assume is your monitor, peripherals etc, gives me anxiety haha. All of my cables need to be totally hidden, save for where they connect to the periph

It would be, if all manufacturers were comparable.  But then we have CPUs where the values may or may not be maximums or averages or something in-between.

Modern GPUs, both AMD and Nvidia, boost much higher than rated speeds. This is pretty normal. I'd be surprised if your card couldn't hit 1700-1800 by itself with ease.

mikestrong88 got a reaction from gloop in H500i "bar?" placement.
So it turns out you can move the bar slightly. It comes with 3 different mounting options. Sadly it was already on the furthest one but I managed to jerryrig it a bit and it works.

Negatives, the bar is a bit loose and the hook at the bottom doesn't sit flush.

Positives, now the fans fit and I get to keep the bar to hide the cables.

Attachehed an image of the final product.

mikestrong88 reacted to TVwazhere in H500i "bar?" placement.
You can remove it, but there's no way to shift it's placement for allowing more fans to be added. You either have less fans and a bar, or more fans and no bar

If it was me, I would go for the standard Ryzen 5 3600 and get slighly quicker ram.

I am running the 3600 with 3600mhz ram. I looked at the increase of performance vs cost on the 3600 to the 3600x and it just didn't make sense to me. The difference in performance is under 3% , but the difference is cost is almost 21% (here in the UK anyway).

So I would use that extra money for 3600 speed ram ideally.

mikestrong88 reacted to RadiatingLight in I need help with building my PC.
    Nope.
In general, 400 series boards (B450 and X470) DO require an update, but MSI "MAX" series boards are guaranteed to have been manufactured after the release date of Ryzen 3000 CPUs, and so they do not need a BIOS update.

The reason motherboards need BIOS updates is that sometimes the motherboard is manufactured before the CPU, and so the motherboard doesn't 'know' how to talk to a newer CPU.

You don't even need to spend your full budget.
Get a 3700X if you have money burning a hole in your pocket that you really want to spend.
Get an aftermarket cooler if you want to overclock and/or really like silence.

mikestrong88 reacted to VIVO-US in Dual monitors?
The issue with gaming on dual monitors is you'll always have that gap in the middle, so anything with a central focus (like an FPS) might not be quite so fun as on a single or triple setup.  With the game stretch across all screens, it will take a larger toll on your graphics card since it's filling twice as many pixels, so you might have to turn a few settings down somewhat to keep running at 144Hz.
