Is the ryzen 5 2600 a bottleneck for the RTX 3080?
Leon86 replied to Ilm9001's topic in Graphics Cards
With the two ram kits and running a lower speed up already bottle necking the system, as said hyper x is probably a better kit of the 2. 2933mhz I think is official supported speed of 2600. U should see a noticeable performance gain just from that. -
The current psu can support, 30a across 8 rails. So that said ive seen a rm850 I belive with IIRC was 50 odd amps on 12v. So that should be plenty. I have a o11-d case and plan to have custom loop so pumps and fans. Has 11 fans currently

Yeah I had pretty much made my mind up to get a new one, but I'd be more comfortable knowing what amps is need on the 12v rail for these new gpus. I've been stung before with this current gpu. Brought the recommend wattage actually was over on the wattage, still didn't display on hdmi, had to look up the amps and get appropriate psu

Yes u can, but I belive u can only use it as a additional compute card for like folding at home, or production software. Cant sli them as gtx is sli and rtx is nvlink.

So I've seen recommendations on the psu required for these new nvidia gpus, now I have a antec 1200w psu and it is a old psu and trust it 100%. I currently have a gigabyte gtx 780 windforce, so also old. It has a custom bios a pulls 425w by it self due to the overclock, so heres my question..... What 12v rail amps are required for a 3090?

don't worry the gpu sag due to the shear size of the cards will create a clearance. Maybe there alittle wiggle room for the cooler to shift up a bit? I'm sure the gpu die clamp will be bit higher than components on the back. All speculation of course.

B450 tomahawk max is imo the best priced b450 mb. Also the max version has out the box 3000 support so gain a small but significant upgrade path. 3700x or 3800x will be fine in this b450. Although for a 3900/3950, x570

I suspect the bios isn't supported, there was a another of b450 boards that didn't ship and 3000 ready. Its worth check also if u need a pair of sticks to boot. Not common but on a low end board ya never know. Imo I'm sure its bios version. U can contact amd and they can send u a loner cpu, prob be a athlon cpu of sorts so u can update bios and send the cpu back.- 8 replies
