ryzen 7 2700x high idle temp with AiO
Mallith replied to just me's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
There is a reddit post by an AMD spokeperson specificly saying to not use HWinfo64/HWmonitor and only use CPU-Z since CPU-Z doesn't have the monitoring effect. HWinfo will call on all cores during monitoring which will lead to higher percieved temps. -

Reapply the thermal paste, I have a 3900x which should run hotter than yours and mine idles at 35° with a noctua nh-d15 aircooler. Also check the voltages with ryzen master or cpu-z (not other monitoring software since AMD behaves weirdly when you use monitoring software like HWinfo). -
I find this to be bad advice, if it starts burning when you are home you are going to be in the same panic as when you are not home. (i'm not saying it can be a fire hazard, but if it was then ...) If it shorts and starts burning it will imediatly short out the whole system and by then you can't pick up the system and throw it outside to prevent burning your home. You would have to have a fire extinquisher on hand for it.

The CPU will automaticly draw less voltage (if you do it via ryzen master) when you are idling.

I don't think Linus is confortable with making products that are not dangerous to drop. He needs to able to destroy stuff

RPM != Air flow. The 200mm fans will move more air at same rpm as the 140mm one. The 200mm fans are capped at 800rpm , the 140mm at 2000.

Hello, I build my pc in the coolermaster h500m and used the stock fans (2x200mm in front, 1x140mm as rear exhaust) I have the feeling i need to add an extra exhaust to the case and was thinking of adding another 200mm fan in the top. I want to use this fan to pull hot air out. Since I already build my computer it is hard for me to try and fit the fan under the grill (position 2 in the image). Does it hurt fan performance if i add it on top off the grill (position 1)

Dear LTT, PC-building enthousiasts. My 9 year old I7-2600k fueled system is due for an upgrade and i've chosen for the following CPU : AMD ryzen 3900x CPU Cooler : Noctua NH-D15 Chromax Motherboard : Gigabyte X570 Auros Elite Ram : Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR4 3200 MHZ SSD : Samsung EVO 970 500g HDD : Seagate 4TB PSU : Be quiet Pure Power 11 750w Case : Coolermaster H500M GPU: MSI Nvidea 1070 (4g ram) ((Leftover from my old pc, don't want to switch this so soon). Any things i'm forgetting? Should I invest extra in 2 more case fans to put on the top exhausts? The pc will be used for Gaming, Streaming, Video editing (both for YT as for my job) , music production and game development (Unity/blender).
