I was wondering about that, I'll pause/restart a few times in a bit, If I was thinking I'd have had this setup running when i was sleeping lol. At some point I'll have to pause it for some Doom Eternal but every bit helps

Kinda wish I had a spare GPU and id dig out my 6700k system and get it up and running too

I set up my former streaming rig as a dedicated F@H rig. Not much just a R5-1600 and a GTX 970. Currently I'm folding on the GPU only. So two stupid questions. Question the first, if I put my CPU to work am I putting it at risk/shortening the life span of it or the motherboard? Its being cooled by the Wraith Spire from my R7-2700X in a old HAF case that has tons of ventilation so I'm not worried about temps. Question the second, how badly can I expect it to hit the power bill if I let the CPU go to work? Thanks!

Shouldn't need to. The servers are just being hit REALLY hard by all of us trying to help. Also, trying to get new WU's very very often is worse for the overall good, we are effectively DDOSing them. If it has been over 30 minutes with no CPU job, just go into the advanced control and pause the CPU, wait a minute or two, then start it again. That will kick it to try and find a new server. But repeatedly trying just clocks their system up more.
 
Be patient, and leave the clients open and running. It will work.... They are working very very hard trying to keep up with all of us offering help.
 
To put this in perspective, before all of this, they had ~30k active users. A few nights ago they reported +400k users....... Thats more then 10x, it wouldn't surprise me if they are up to +600k which would be 20x.... They were not ready for this, but they are working as hard as possible to get the server back end stabilized as well as get WU's for us all to crunch on.

The client runs a job on each. Typically, both will be busy, but right now per my comment right bellow your's, they are just being SLAMMED. look at my response right bellow yours to CB_J_IRacing

It does, I reinstalled my F@H and got a CPU WU right away after reinstall and putting in my code again.
 
Had another one after but none for the last couple of hours.

Leave it for couple hours, servers can't keep up with the work assignment because we are so many.

well it definitely will, idk what it is tied to, I've upgraded just about everything from this PC except GPU and storage. All I had to do was call the number to get a new key and get rid of the watermark  

just be sure to link the license. you can do that in windows settings. 
 
i dont believe that would have any effect on upgrading. just be sure to have the activation key. (again, available under the update menu>activation)

In my experience it only works once, but I think that is only for the motherboard I, as far as I am aware you can change the cpu and ram as often as you like. If you are using a Microsoft account, you can link the key to the account and reactivate it for free after replacing a component.
