The difference is only few percentages so I wouldn't worry about it.

Gaires got a reaction from Lurick in AMD Deceived Us.. and YOU – Ryzen 7 7800X3D Review
It's almost like there's forced product segmentation happening here. They've clocked down the 7800X3D to differentiate it from the 7950X3D and it's still almost as fast.
The 79xxX3D parts were marketed for gaming, but in gaming they shut off half of their cores making them 6 and 8 core parts.
As for productivity, you would just buy the 7950x which is cheaper and still good for gaming.

Gaires reacted to porina in Another day, another awful console to PC port release (The last of us: Part 1)
Haven't watched it yet but this just dropped. It's an hour long.

Edit: watched it. The tldw would be:
Their "mid spec" system is 3600 + 2700 Super, which is also chosen to approximate PS5 hardware.
Settings for above: 1440p DLSS quality, high overall with medium textures

Their high end system (12900k+4090) did look and behave better but still differences to PS5 version, even putting aside probable glitches that need to be fixed.

On VRAM: the game leaves a portion of VRAM for OS/other apps. It seems to scale with VRAM on the model, and does not consider what is actually being used outside of the game.
"high" textures on PC comparable to PS5, no further improvement on "ultra".
    Medium textures is blurry.
They considered more than 8GB required for high textures. HUB benchmarks didn't reveal problems with "high" at 8GB, may depend on where they tested.

Game is CPU intensive, and as much of a limiter as GPU. Their testing suggests 3600 is not going to deliver consistent 60fps when GPU is not limiting.
Game loads data for new areas as you advance, resulting in lower perf while it does so
They commented the game files appears to include a library to handle PS5 textures. Have to wonder if this is less optimal than one made for PC.
Post launch patch has reduced shader compilation time.

    Edit 19 May 2023

I didn't want to bump this thread but thought following was worth adding to it.

Recent patches have increased texture quality at lower settings, and also reduced VRAM usage. You can run high textures with 8GB GPU now.

Gaires reacted to LAwLz in Desktop GPU sales hit 20 year low, 42 percent fewer than last year.
I wonder how many read the articles regarding this, vs just jumping to conclusions based on their preconceived notion about the situation.

People are spending less time at home so as a result, fewer people are buying gaming stuff.
With ever increasing inflation and many people having unsure financial futures, people are less likely to spend money on frivolous things like gaming.
This is happening across the industry, not just Nvidia and their gaming graphics cards.
A large amount of people bought computers at the start and during the pandemic. As a result, the sales are no longer as spread out.

There are several other factors at play as well, and this is not something that is exclusive to the GPU market.
It's very rare for such a big change to the market to be caused by a single thing. It's a very complex system with lots of different variables.

Gaires got a reaction from LAwLz in Labs PSU Testing Credibility / Conflict of Interest
Which is a conflict of interest if they also review those sponsor's prducts, this also includes the free samples.

Not really, some sponsors give you more money compared to the others. They might also give you other preferential treatment.

Problem here is that there aren't many PSU reviewers, since the hardware is too expensive and there aren't many people reading those reviews meaning it's really risky endeavor. You need to spend a lot of money upfront and then hope people will come and read your reviews, which are hard to understand for most people.
So say the Lab gets slightly different results compared to some other reviewers, they don't have the time to go and verify the Lab's results.

It doesn't mean they have to praise Seasonic to the high heaven and back, it just means they might understate some problems on Seasonic units.

From Google "conflict of interest: a situation in which the concerns or aims of two different parties are incompatible.".
So when it comes to manufacturer - reviewer relationship the problem is that the manufacturer wants positive coverage and the reviewer is supposed to be neutral but is dependant on the manufacturer.

Sure, and it's a conflict of interest. You can look at the Hardware Unboxed situation where Nvidia felt they had enough leverage to force them to review their products in more positive light. They felt they can bully one smaller reviewer into doing their bidding, because even if they lost HU coverage they would still have many more reviewers to review their products.
You can also look at the gaming journalism where the reviewers are dependant on the game studios to give them press copies, and thus at least some sites do blatantly give those games good scores.

And I again emphasize that this doesn't mean that there 100% is a conflict of interest, it just means there can be one. Which is problematic since we as a consumers will most likely never know if there is or isn't one.

Gaires got a reaction from LAwLz in Labs PSU Testing Credibility / Conflict of Interest
The problem is human one. Since Seasonic has been heavily involved in the process, to the point where they sponsored a video, Kyle might be influenced to give Seasonic some leeway when it comes to the results. It might also go otherway around if Kyle feel pressured by the conflict of interest and thus be too harsh on Seasonic to "prove there isn't a conflict of interest".

Also people need to remember that conflict of interest doesn't mean that there is one, it just mean there can be, which is why it's so problematic.

Gaires got a reaction from Delicieuxz in Crysis Remastered trilogy
Like I said, it's far from perfect but doesn't mean they won't fix the problems. Halo Combat Evolved classic graphics are finally being fixed, 18 years after Gearbox broke them, so maybe Crytek will also commit into fixing the problems Crysis is having.

Other question is will it be too late, they really should have pushed back the release and implement the fixes and dlss into the release version. They might be facing the same problem as No Mans Sky, which apparently is pretty good nowdays, but since it was such a joke when it was released no one cares anymore.

Hopefully the new trilogy won't be Epic Store exclusive, since I only use Steam and GOG. Really wanted to pickup the original remaster too, but I'll wait and see if they release any of the remasters elsewhere.

Gaires reacted to TetraSky in Apple Must Face Lawsuit for Telling Consumers They Can "Buy" Movies, TV Shows
Never understood why/how it's even legal for these services to cut your access to stuff you've bought, at their own whim, without compensation. That's why I hope this guy wins his lawsuit and set a precedent for the digital goods that we buy to be available for complete download to us in the event that they decide to unilaterally cut off your access to it (doubt it will happen, the MAFIAA and others like them who have interest in you not owning anything, will lobby hard to push more laws and crap to prevent that from happening, with braindead politicians taking their bribe money, not read the bills and pass it... So yeah, that's why that's a thing right now, I guess).

To me, cutting access to stuff I've paid actual money to obtain, even if it's digital, is akin to breaking into my house and stealing straight from my shelves. Except the shelve is in a warehouse somewhere being rented from Google/Apple/Valve, etc. Just because they own the shelve, doesn't mean I don't own the content on top (the whole "you own a license and not the actual product" thing is bullshit. Even more so when the digital copy cost as much as the physical copy).

For the people in my life where I would involve either of the two above items - I could count those people on less than 5 fingers, because that list is short.  And tbh those people on that same short list, if they needed something, I wouldnt put a price tag on it.  They NEED it.

They mostly play games on stream, but they also have karaoke streams and next week they're holding virtual concert. They also do collobrations with companies including Asus, Sega, Nissin and others.
Most of their talent are Japanese, but there's also an English speaking branch, Indonesian branch and they had Chinese branch which they closed this year.

The talents have 2D avatars that they use to stream and their movements are captured by a phone. Sometimes they also do 3D streams where they use full body tracking and have 3D models.
