mjuzikmen reacted to TetraSky in What can Facebook do to me? Privacy Inquiries
To be honest, anyone who says Facebook is evil, but uses any of Google's services, is just a hypocrite. They are no worse than all the other tech giants who collect info to sell to advertisers or third parties. They all do.
What I'm guessing is one of the main issues, is the fact that the Oculus Quest 1, 2 & Rift S, have cameras on the headset, so they are afraid Facebook would literally be spying on people in their home?
Honestly, even if they say it's against their terms, there's nothing stopping people from using a "burner account". If they ever "ban" the account, they will likely be demanding some kind of ID proof instead of outright banning it. They certainly did for me a while back when I made my FB account.
Such an ID is easily forged and they don't care enough to really check whether or not it's legit. The fact they aren't a gov entity, means they don't actually have access to any means of verifying whether or not an ID is legit (just blur out any of the personally identifying numbers, have it show your name and picture, that's all).
That, but also with Oculus Link or with Virtual Desktop/ALVR (wireless), you could literally just buy your VR games on Steam instead of the Oculus Store if you're so scared if getting the account banned.

mjuzikmen reacted to WereCatf in Blocking YouTube, here is why.
Your whiny rant certainly doesn't provide a good base for that. How do you e.g. define "real-world application", when literally everyone's situation is different? The complaints about how you're not getting the same numbers from a GPU as a reviewer gets are just inane: no one ever claimed that you would get the same numbers, the point is in showing the relative performance when compared to other similar products and it's your own, personal problem if you don't understand that, not the reviewer's.

So, you just want people who don't agree with you to not reply in this thread?

mjuzikmen reacted to AlwaysFSX in Blocking YouTube, here is why.
Because they independently verify claims made about products and give you the information to understand if there is an issue with your product. Everyone should know that. Hardware doesn't change over time like you think it does either? There's no point in constantly testing specific products years later, we know how hardware ages. Nothing is a surprise.
If you buy a damaged product that risk is on you, because you should be thinking about the risks involved. If a product is a lemon it gets reported quickly (Gamers Nexus reporting on the RTX 20 series artifacting bugs, for example). Very, very little is unknown with computer hardware in this day and age that needs to be over-reported on to say "hey this thing works just like it did six months ago." You need to have your own knowledge and judgement about your specific use-case if you're an outlier.

This will be very interesting, especially if PIA gets subpoenaed which will ultimately say whether they log and what other info they keep.

Morgan Freeman is in every stereotypical patriotic B-movie now with the word Fallen in it, isn't he?
Morgan it's time to stop.

mjuzikmen reacted to RejZoR in iPhone 12 Pro so expensive in India that you can fly to Dubai to buy it, come back, and still save money
It's so hilarious people yet again going like "omg greedy Apple" yet it's the India smacking ridiculous "luxury" taxes on tech products making them absurdly expensive. Yet everyone rushes to piss on Apple because you're not cool if you're not endlessly pissing on Apple these days. How old are you all, 8 ?

mjuzikmen reacted to berberries in pls help
RTX 3070 isn't even launched yet, so there won't be any prebuilts available yet.
That being said, with your budget of 600-800GBP you shouldn't be looking at an RTX 3070 at all. RTX 3070 has an MSRP of 499USD or 469GBP for the founders edition. Other AIB Cards will cost much more.
Make the RTX 3070 500GBP as a safe estimate. A decent PSU that will power it will definitely cost well over 100GBP, already putting you over your 600GBP budget.
At your budget you should be looking at RTX 2060 or RX 5600XT based systems.

mjuzikmen reacted to Haro in my ram usage is high
way less resource intensive from my experience. for the most part, it's more than fine, unless you're someone that goes out of their way to install either questionable/ sketchy thing. no point in wasting money on another anti virus, when the windows one is honestly more than enough.
not that it's harmful. just a bit useless, (and not fully useless.).

mjuzikmen reacted to Tech-Fix in my ram usage is high
I understand what you're saying, when I meant antivirus I meant 3rd party like McAfee, Norton and other system hoggers.
To be honest, I don't think any antivirus is useful. Even bit defender that only warns me about false positives. These days if you stay off of pirated software you're pretty much safe.

mjuzikmen reacted to Tech-Fix in my ram usage is high
Anti Virus is probably one of the worst things you can have installed on a PC. It's the main cause for significant resources draining with no real advantage. Windows defender is enough

Windows defender is all you need. I deleted my anti virus on my and my two sisters pc and all still works fine.
4 GB ram usage is normal. My laptop also uses as much

100GB+ games and the prices of high capacity SSDs are valid reasons to use hard drives,
That's why the trend of SSDs as OS drives + HDDs for a game drive is popular.

edge because im too lazy to stop using it, literally any of the mainstream browsers are fine enough for me. i have firefox on my laptop, edge on my pc, and safari on my shitty iphone, and i would not be surprised if ive managed to convince whoever's collecting my data that i'm 3 different people lol

mjuzikmen reacted to BlueChinchillaEatingDorito in Epic, Spotify, Tile, Protonmail, and Basecamp form coalition against apple
How does that justify anything when their whole argument to the public was about giving users freedom of choice on their devices? It goes against their argument by removing Rocket League from Steam and making it an exclusive on their own store. And we're suppose to trust they're doing this for the best interests of the consumer and not their own pocketbooks?
