  1. I bought a new, identical, kit of memory. And yeah, the kit I bought originally just had a bad DIMM in it. Certainly a bit of unusual behaviour, I can't say I've really heard of that being an issue and the whole EZ debug lights showing CPU too still baffles me a little but hey. Problem solved.
  2. I should be able to replace it pretty effortlessly, Amazon in the UK are usually pretty lenient with stuff like that. I'll reply to this thread to update in the next few days when I get a new dimm/kit. Thank you for the help I appreciate it.:)
  3. After updating the BIOS to the the release from Jan 6th nothing has changed ram wise. Still only one dimm works in only slot 2 and 4 and the other one does not work at all only showing the 2 same LEDs. The rbg lights up but besides that I get nada.
  4. Oh my bad, I didn't realise that wasn't the model no. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09TPY273P?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details this is the link from the exact set I bought. As for XMP and such, the one stick runs fine with and without XMP enabled so I'll try updating the bios and get back to you.:)
  5. I've just upgraded my system to AM5 and I'm having memory issues and can't find similar forum posts like my situation and I'm looking for a little guidance. Specs as follows: MSI B650 Mag Mortar Ryzen 5 7600x G.Skill trident DDR5 6000mhz (specific model: 32-TZ5RK) RTX 3070Ti NHU-12s chromax.black So I started building it everything was going fine when I went to turn it on and got the red CPU and orange DRAM light like in the photo. So I started frantically googling trying to find the answer and could find no information, so my first thought was to reseat the cooler and check for bent pins and try again, there were no bent pins and it didn't work. So I started reseeding each ram module in different ram slots and after nearly every configuration I tried to use only one module in the second slot from the left and the last slot, these let me post. So I tried the other ram module but that one didn't work in any of the ram slots which is where it leads me to believe that it could be just the one module that is broken. However, after more and more research I found that with AM5 and new memory controller due to DDR5 it can be flaky. I've been able to install win11 and use it perfectly fine with just the one module but any attempt to add the second RAM slot in still results in a the same ez debug lights. But then I got into windows and started benchmarking to ensure everything else was fine and noticed that the CPU ran really hot and would hit 95 immediately, it wouldn't thermal throttle and would maintain boost frequency, but I got scared took off the cooler reapplied thermal paste and re did it without looking into it and I did this probably 4/5 times, each time I did this the same RAM testing in different slots and stuff but still to no success. (the cpu in cinebench r23 runs a little better than most of the other recorded 7600x's so I don't think it's contact issues but I'm unsure) I ordered everything off amazon so I have the ability to send stuff back and get replacements but I kinda need the system so don't want to RMA everything and have to wait for everything to arrive. Apologies for any structure issues but It's hard to isolate specific things with it being a new platform and little issue recording from others. And thank you in advance for any help and anymore information required please just ask, ty<3
  6. So with the rise of AI image generation and the moral and legal implications of it all; something that seemed to be fairly silent was the introduction of Copilot, which like AI image generation, uses other code available on GitHub which at least to my knowledge has a way to opt out. As a computing student at university it is awesome and gives me the ability to practically complete my assignments with very little input on my end other than a little comment outlining what I want Copilot to do for me. However, among speaking with some of my fellow students who are aware/use it, there are some obvious legal and moral implications to it all. Like the use of someone else's code where they don't wish for it to be used, or how it effectively cuts mine and a lot of other developers workload down to nearly nothing. Despite it being pretty simple and not very good at solving complex solutions, it shows a lot of potential and if it's improves could prove to either be an incredibly useful asset to all developers, but in turn reducing the need for so many developers. Or something that is seen as a cheap out to code a copy of something else and shunned in the community. But in general I feel in it's current state, it's a fairly simple and a "wow look at that, ain't that cool" moment and then you move on. But also scares me with the fact I still have 2 and a half years left till I get my degree how something like this could effect the space. If you would like to read more about it: https://github.com/features/copilot Edit: I understand posts have been made about the release, but as a student who gets this service for free. I'm interested in ya'lls thoughts on how this may affect development and/or it's implications, be it legal or moral, once this becomes a lot more mainstream.
  7. Budget (including currency): £1000-1250 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mix of everything (computing student at university so everything from coding to 3d modelling with some heavy gaming) So I'm looking to upgrade my current system which is as follows: R5 2600, 16gb DDR4 3000Mhz, MSI B450M PRO-VDH, Corsair CV650, WD SN750 1tb and an RX590 (already ordered a 3070 ti which is already accounted for in the budget) I'm looking to buy a fresh B550/B570 mobo and a SN850 2tb or whatever is on offer and looking at an R5 5600x or R7 5700x and 32gb of ram and likely a fresh PSU to keep up. I'm also looking at buying a Samsung odyssey G7 27 inch or another comparable 2k 240hz monitor, so any recommendations would be awesome! However with the soon release of Ryzen 7000 I'm unsure if I should buy one of the lower end model of Ryzen 7000 or pickup a cheap Ryzen 5000 chip as I know how expensive it can be to be an early adopter. I understand the benefits of updating my platform to AM5 with having actual easy upgrade paths and not sticking with a dead end platform, as well as getting to use DDR5. note: The budget is only a ballpark number as apposed to set in stone. Thoughts?
  8. I'll be honest, and as a university student studying comp sci, I should know better but I'm not too concerned about ransomware attacks as the my important is backed up in the cloud. If it happens then ah well, its more for convivence if my NVME SSD dies I don't need to go through the effort of getting the data back
  9. Hi, *DISCLAIMER* I'm not exactly a novice when it comes to PC's but when it comes to storage and anything NAS related I have no clue. I've been looking into simplistic ways to backup my data, and I don't really want to pay for a cloud subscription because I would like to keep a backup of my data but its not too imperative, any documents I need a backup of I usually store it in my free Google drive. But I also don't have enough money *right now* to buy a NAS. So I was curious if there was a fairly simple way to install a fresh hard drive in my system and have it automatically backup data to that hard drive. The ideal plan would be eventually set up a NAS using the hard drive in question included but at the moment that's not particularly and option. Thank you for any help!
  10. Hi, so I may or may not have sum smashed my monitor. So I'm in the market for a new one. My previous one was Asus Tuf vg1b 27, I'm looking at one of the same or higher calibre and the same size. However I'm looking for the best priced monitor, I don't need the best image quality or anything just something that's serviceable. I'm an FPS/osu! gamer so I just need fast and responsive and preferably something with a good peak brightness. Anyway, I've found this monitor for £200 on sale and want to stick within this price range. (in the UK) https://www.ebuyer.com/982201-aoc-c27g2zu-bk-27-full-hd-240hz-va-monitor-with-freesync-premium-c27g2zu-bk and I'd just like to know if the opinion of it is favourable or hated. Thank you!
  11. Here's the vbios pulled from gpuz RX590 thermal issues.rom
  12. Another thing I'm considering is dismantling the card and reapplying the thermal paste but performing effectively open heart surgery on a £250 card scares me a little
  13. I've just done another superposition run and with an aggressive fan curve set to kick in fully at 70 and it made it further in the scene but once again, it crashed. If I drop the clock speed of the card down to a point where it won't peak above 70-75 will that be effective then leave the voltage at auto?
  14. I used ddu to remove and reinstall the drivers and then loaded up superposition and all seemed to be going well, it peaked at 80c and then throttled the card and it dipped below it's turbo speed but then it did the same thing, it's progress but I can't really think why it half worked. Is there a way to just simply limit the overall output of the card?
  15. Hi, a few weeks ago I purchased a second hand RX 590 off eBay and had issues right away with it overheating and then crashing. I managed to limit fps in games and limit it's performance for a while but it's started again with it reaching 80c then crashing again and had 2 bsods with a code referring to corrupt drivers. I've tried undervolting but I can't benchmark the card at 100% util without it reaching max temp and then crashing, I'm a little stuck on what to do or whether I should just refund the card and likely deal with similar issues for my next card. For reference my PC specs are: Ryzen 5 2600 16gb Patriot viper 3000mhz MSI Armor RX590 8G OC MSI B450M PRO VDH MAX Corsair CV650 Corsair 275R Airflow with 3 Intake and 1 outtake (previously running 2 intake 2 outtake but still had the same issues) Thank you.
