So I am in the process of acquiring parts and building a small form factor portable gaming pc to take with me when I travel. I am having trouble deciding when I finish the build, do I sell it and buy a gaming laptop, or do I keep it and use it. I am kind of leaning towards the laptop side becuase then I wouldn't have to deal with a monitor and cables and stuff. Any suggestions help! Thanks!

OK, If that's the case, then I would go for the cpu upgrade and save up for the gpu. a 1050ti if you can overclock it a bit should be fine with a 6 core cpu like the 9400f.

I would personally upgrade both. the 9400f is fine but I would recommend an rx 590 (=gtx 1070(ti)) because the price to performance on that thing right now is insane! There shouldn't be any bottlenecks, because I have a 590 paired with a 2700x and there is no bottlenecks. hope this helped.
