  1. Yup! The plan is to host WHALE LANs going forward so we've changed the name of this section instead of making another and keeping both around when an LTX sub-forum would not have had a use for the time being.
  2. The booths within the expo will be same for Saturday and Sunday Shows/panels/activations on the main stage will be different between Saturday/Sunday The BYOC will also have a schedule for the span of the expo, so we won't just be repeating the same tournaments, challenges, etc.
  3. We'll have an official schedule for the LAN closer the expo, and we usually have a mix of tournaments and one-off challenges/contests going on throughout the weekend. Typically we stick to eSports titles or older releases for anything that has prizing attached so it's a low barriers to entry, you won't be expected to shell out for AAA games just to participate. Alongside those we usually have a 'game of the hour' listed on the schedule as a suggestion and a way to kickstart lobbies/discussion on what to do next at the LAN. We're open to suggestions leading up to and during the LAN, the goal is to have everyone participate and we'll make adjustments or changes as we go.
  4. We haven't put out any volunteer information yet, but it should be coming sooner than later! You can check out https://www.ltxexpo.com/volunteer If you want to sign up for our volunteer notification we'll send out an official emails once we have more info to share and a sign-up process for this year.
  5. We'll be accepting Canadian & US cash (as well as debit/card cards) for attendees wanting to buy items in-person during the expo.
  6. Generally B.C. has a 7% PST (Provincial Sales Tax) + 5% GST (Goods & Services Tax) on taxable goods and services (like the merch pack), but event admissions/tickets/passes are actually exempt from the 7% PST.
  7. We typically host LTX in the summer, but we haven't had a lock on a specific weekend or dates and we won't be able to announce dates until we've locked in a time with a venue for 2024.
  8. If you reach out to info@ltxexpo.com we should be able to help with the letter you'd need in order to attend LTX.
  9. I think it's just a bug with the cart, not the actual checkout process. under the "Check out" button it says there was an an error updating your cart. if you refresh the page or proceed to actually checkout it would display the correct price and number of tickets purchase. We'll look into it and see if there is something we can do to resolve the issue.
  10. The LAN will be it's own section within the expo!
  11. The VIP merch packs will be different from the stand alone merch pack available on the store. The main difference being the VIP merch packs will use their respective logo (Dolphin, Orca, Whale) instead of the LTX 2023 logo.
  12. That account is most definitely as scam, we'll try to get them removed ASAP. I would report/block them to help the process.
  13. 100% you can bring your side panel to get it signed!
  14. We'd never want to rule anything out, but LTX works well for us because of the location. While there are some difficulties associated with the expo being in Canada, this is outweighed by the benefit of having almost all our staff members participate in the expo! If LTX continues to be a success then we would probably be able to find a way to bring an LTX-like experiences to other places in NA, but I would expect LTX to be a Vancouver-based experience until we announce otherwise.
  15. We'll have a schedule out closer to the expo! I expect most of our officially scheduled games/tournaments/challenges to revolve around LAN friendly titles; free/inexpensive, mid/low spec requirements and offline LAN multiplayer or easy to host online lobbies. BYOC attendees are encouraged to find games to play outside of the official schedule and do their best to 'rally the troops' if they want to get a lobby going. In addition to scheduled tournaments and challenges we'll also have some "game of the hour" suggestions where we'll host lobbies or get people to provide a few lobby codes to everyone to make it easy to join a match with other LAN attendees!
  16. LAN cache should help download speeds if you find that you need to download a game on steam or other popular launcher. You will need to own the games in question as a LAN Cache server does not grant you access to any games that you don't already own. We'll put out a LAN schedule before the expo starts, It is definitely recommended that you download the games you do own from our schedule and maybe keep an eye out for a sale on anything that interests you leading up to the LAN or as mentioned have a budget available if you find yourself needing to buy a game during the LAN. The goal is to get everyone playing something (ideally the same game) across different lobbies, with that in mind officially scheduled games/tournaments/challenges will mostly focus on games that lend themselves well to a LAN environment: Games that are free-to-play or inexpensive to begin with. Older or eSports titles that do not require high end hardware to run. Easy LAN/Multiplayer features, typically games that don't require an online connection to join/host lobbies.
  17. As it currently stands, you will have to bring a monitor to the BYOC this year (unless we announce otherwise in the future).
  18. The table space for a regular BYOC ticket is likely to be half of a 6'x30" table (same table size we used for our 2019 BYOC) and you will only be able to access the BYOC area if you have a ticket/pass that includes a seat. A 27" monitor is a pretty good size for a LAN, anything large can be a nuisance. You might want to look into a LAN shelf (DIY or a kit of somekind) if you really want to maximize your space: We will be tagging larger items (computer & monitor) and matching them to your badge so don't lose it! It's common for people to bring a Kensington lock or similar and lock it to the table for the weekend. In the past our BYOC experiences have been chill and we haven't had issues, but as with most BYOC events we're not liable for anything that could happen to your stuff; it is recommended that you don't leave any loose electronics at your setup when you leave. We don't have any lockers within the venue at this time, some might exist within the convention centre. Boxes could be stored under your desk (not ideal I know) or we'd recommend putting them back in your car (if you drive), as long as your boxes don't intrude on the seats next to you or end up blocking the walkway.
  19. Pricing for the expo is only available in USD, unfortunately this means most people outside of the US will likely have deal with some kind of exchange rate at the time of purchase. Selling tickets in CAD or other currencies might be something we explore in the future, assuming things go smoothly this year we'd like to stick with our ticket platform and implement more features or build our own.
  20. - Pricing TBD, more info when we're ready to share! - Yep! We'll have Whale LAN @ LTX, so it's part of the expo and then we might do more stand-alone LANs again in the future! - Early bird specials are something we're considering, not 100% decided yet on it yet.
  21. At the very least we will be streaming the main stage events for those who are unable to attend the event in person. There could be some other virtual/remote activities tied to LTX, but given that our focus is going to be on the in-person experiences it might not be something we can accommodate for this event.
  22. We don't want to give out exact dates just yet, but a few details I can share for now: Summer 2023 Vancouver Convention Centre (West Building) More floor space than 2019 (a lot more) So far we appear to have finally not scheduled LTX on the same weekend as a Quakecon or San Diego Comic-Con , but a lot of events are coming back in full swing next year so I imagine it'll be hard to avoid conflict with something else that's going on in North America. More Info Soon
  23. The stickers leaving so much residue was honestly an oversight, my bad . If we ever do this again (and had more time to plan) it would have been cool to make a cool looking sticker instead that also had a unique number or something for tagging computers, but also wasn't such a pain to take off. There was a lot going on which is why the schedule got so delayed, we managed to catch up a bit by doing some contests back-to-back, but we had to drop the League of Legend tournaments since we didn't run a full crew at night and it was getting late. Left 4 Dead tourney was supposed to be like a game of the hour thing, but it became an impromptu tournament when Linus wanted to put something on the line.
  24. Yeah the LAN will be open, once you have a badge for the event (we give you one during registration) then you can enter/leave. Desks spaces are 4'x30" so you might have to raise your sense a bit lol You can leave your computer, but we're can't be responsible for your hardware. however we will be marking and checking computers and monitors when they come in/out to make sure that guests enter and leave with their own gear.
  25. 53rd and 52nd avenue have street parking, but it'll fill up so walking might be necessary. If you can fit everything but your PC in a backpack and then carry it then its not that bad, we have a some carts/wagons as well to try and assist people bringing in stuff, but an email with more details will be going out today/tomorrow with more info.
