  1. From the album: Gaming-rig 2014

Photo from early stage of my gaming rig.
  2. Sack, what was the problem / issue in your case. Was your computer turning on from complete power-off state (S5), or was it waking the computer from sleep ?
  3. Bios is holding it's settings perfectly, no settings loosing or whatever, but I will try this as a next step. Don't know. Brother has some power supply, different mobo in the same house, working just fine, no booting without reason. Any way to avoid this ? I am really getting tired of this issue. Can't be PSU or MOBO be faulty, so it "decides" to boot ? I am using Corsair Obsidian 450d case. There are no riser screws in the package, however all places, where motherboard can raise are higher, so the board doesn't touch the plate. Risers are "embedded" in the case. MSI Supercharger - some fancy stuff to enable charging of iDevices. I am not using it anyway, and it's disabled. But i will try this as a next step. By now, i tried clearing cmos -> loading bios defaults -> setting my values again. We will see.. The worst is, that i cannot simulate this. The problem appears totally randomly.
  4. Nope. I turn via Right Click on windows logo -> shutdown. No unplugging from the wall. And bios is set to POWER OFF after power resume.
  5. It boots windows normally. I come to my computer and windows is booted, waiting for user password.
  6. It doesn't seem WOL related to me. Today, i downloaded Wake On Lan android app to test this feature. Firstly i enabled in BIOS Enable By PCI /this includes also wake on lan/ and disabled EuP2013. It worked fine, I was able to wake my pc up. Then i disabled PCI and enabled EuP, which means "network card dead" during power-off state. Then I was not able to wake my computer anymore. So it seems to me, that WOL disable does it work Pc crashing - I don't know, it doesn't reboot immediately, at all. Sometimes it takes 1, sometimes 2 days since my last usage of computer to boot this way. This article right here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa373229(v=vs.85).aspx According to this, default behaviour of Windows8 is to put computer to Hybrid Sleep (S4) state. Is something able to wake computer from this state, at all ? For example windows scheduled tasks, mouse, keyboard, etc ? Also, is there anybody aware of some kind of utility to find out, to which power state did windows set the computer ? In other words: i would like to trace, whether my computer is going to S0-S5 states.
  7. Yes, they are enabled. But, i am not putting PC in sleep at all. I always shut it down completely. No power led's are blinking, no power consumption, nothing. It turns on from complete shutdown ! Sorry, what is AVR how to check that.
  8. Hello guys, I am looking for help. My new build (actually it's not that new, it's almost 2 months since I built it) is turning on by itself totally randomly. My pc specs are following: PSU: Seasonic X-Series 750 || MOBO: MSI Z97 Gaming 7 || CPU: 4790k || RAM: 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance XMPP 1.3 -> 2133Mhz || GPU: Evga GTX780 SC ACX || SSD: 256GB Samsung 840pro || HDD: WD Caviar Black 2TB CASE: Obsidian 450D - but I don't think that 'stuck powerbutton' or something like this is causing my problems. The pc boots absolutely randomly, but I have noticed something interesting. When I am using it regularly, it works just fine. For example, if I use pc in the morning, before work, then it won't turn on, in the evening. But when I am day or two completely of my house, I return back and find my computer running. I am running windows 8.1 x64. Every possible option in bios to wake pc by hardware (PCI, USB, WOL) are disabled. Bios running in UEFI only mode. There have been multiple bios updates, since I finished the build, which I was hoping would fix this problem, but no luck, actually I am not sure that this is caused by mobo. I also tried reseting to default bios values, still no luck. Btw, i am using powerline adaptor from D-Link, as my network solution, just in case it could have something with my problem. So, please help me - to diagnose and ideally fix my problem. I am starting to be desperate, i don't have even idea, where could be this coming from. Thanks
  9. Ok, some z97 gaming7 users here ? I have noticed, that my mobo manual says that one jack is LINE_IN whereas Realtek HD Audio says that that same jack is headphone. I have tried to switch to this jack, but haven't noticed some changes. Is it supposed to be different ?
  10. I have pair of Sony MDR-XB 600. They were around 50 euros. The bass is definitely there. They are super for electronic style music, which i listen at most - Drum'n'bass, Trance sometimes. They isolate perfectly from ambient noise - that's reason why I use them mostly at work and for trips. But I definitely woudln't recommend them for other music styles and/or voip communication. You can't hear your own voice, what makes you speak bit awkard... But back to the music. Trying to listen to rock and "simmilar" guitar music make them sound "covered". Most of it is Bass, no precise string sound, if you know, what I mean. Recently I bought AKG K702, which I enjoy even much more. They are 'reference headphones' so they try to be as neutral and flat as possible. They are superior for guitar music comparing to sony, but not for DnB, although it sounds different and definitely interesting ! So my advice: if you are bass heavy head, go for bass headphones. But for me, personally, i would rather go for neutral in the future. PS: the brown color is much nicer in real than in picture. http://www.01net.com/images/produit/full/sony-mdr-xb600-1.jpg
  11. Mmh, thanks for explanation. I coudln't get to another computer with realtek audio installed. I will go for DAC / DAC-AMP then. I am still really amazed, how "sound actually sounds" And can't believe that I've been using other (cheap) headphones until.
  12. I still consider it as driver bug. I am unable to choose headphones, maybe that would fix the problem. But in case that no driver would fix this, i would buy dac-amp combo or amp only. I am not sure, what is better. To use onboard audio + amp only. Or to buy dac+amp combo.
  13. I was "affraid" that I will get anwer like this. But anyway, this seems more like driver issue for me, as I am unable to switch to headphones in realtek. I am suspicious that amp is not powered on. Btw, the headphones are crystal clear, sounding super up to about 50% volume. Normally i listen at 30%. 50 is bit louder, but still normal. When I go above 75%, it starts to sound a bit distorted. I will probably end up buying either soundcard or dac / amp. I wanted to try open headphones, i have never had open ones before, and they sounds unbelievable to me
  14. Yes. I also flicked the switch on motherboard. Yes Even Windows shows speakers only.
  15. Hello, i am using MSI z97 gaming 7, which according to website should be able to run headphones up to 600 ohms. Yesterday I bought akg k702 heaphones, which are relative low impedance - 62 ohms, altough very power hungry. Headphones sound amazing, but somehow quiet. I thought that I could try changing output from speakers to headphones in Realtek HD audio, that it could power up those amps able to run 600ohm heaphones. The problem is, that i can see only Speakers, Quadraphonic, 5.1 and 7.1 as my setup. No way of switching to headphones. Also, clicking right button on red jack does nothing, only advanced settings which leads me to sampling frequency settings. Any tips ? Edit: Even after plugging headphones to "HEADPHONE" port, it shows Headphones (Speakers) after settings is at headphones ;( Please help.
  16. Now the pc is working in emergency mode - with 4770k internal gpu just fine. No crashes, no freezing, everything is ok. I tried putting brothers card in my rig. It won't start at all. When i put MY gpu in brothers pc, it worked, no crashes, no freezing. My only cocncern is, that i don't believe that GPU fried "by itself". Yes, the GPU is dead and has already been sent for repair, but in my oppinion, there must be something else, what caused that gpu to fry.
  17. As this doesn't test PSU under load, i consider it useless. I can test voltages in idle by starting the PSU via shorting aout pin 4 and 5 and then measure voltages. As this seasonic is single rail - on 12V, same on 5V, 3V probably also, there shoduln't be very much measuring. I can test it via electrical multimeter (those little devices to measure voltage / amperage / resistance). No offense to you. I have also came over testers like this, but it is really just waste of money for me. I need to put the PSU under load and then measure voltages. Testers like you provided link to, are not even available in Slovakia, lol. Thanks anyway.
  18. Ok guys, my brother's card is going for RMA tomorrow. Is there any way to test the PSU ? Let's assume that they will accept rma. I don't want to plug the card back and risk of it being destroyed by psu "again". His computer runs with my GPU fine, but that was with his card also.. It was runnig for over 1/2 year, and suddenly died. I still suspect the PSU to be source of problems. So, can I test it ? I am experienced a bit in electronics, although i don't plan to open his PSU and measure components inside one by one. I could imagine to test it out under load and measure supplied voltages. But how can I put it under load without being connected to expensive pc components ? The next test would be to put it on osciloscope to measure voltage ripple, but i don't have access to such device.
  19. I built and installed his pc 1/2 year ago. I knew nothing about windows 8, at all. It is installed in bios mode, not uefi, also ! Brother wanted to start playing as fast as possible (Linus ? ). Today, I know that i need to reinstall it from the scratch - uefi and enable secureboot, but there was no spare time to do that yet. We have same SSDs, almost same CPUs (4790k vs 4770k), almost same mobos (z97-g7 vs z87-g45), brother has faster ram.. But anyway - my uefi install boots much more faster. I need to reinstall his rig, but probably after he receives replacement gpu.
  20. Thanks for the assistance guys. I reset the bios (although afaik only setting that has changed was XMP back to 1600 Mhz). Anyway, i tried to boot, black screen again, so i reset the machine again, jumped into that fancy windows recovery (F8), chose some advanced and then booted up in the safe mode. Then after the restart i was able to boot into windows normally. Now i will download and install integrated GPU drivers until replacement card / RMA will be solved. Btw, isn't that kinda weird ? My bro was playing battlefield, while the pc suddenly turned off (he describes it as: "I thought it was power loss"). In this scenario i would suspect PSU to be faulty. But he was able to start the machine with mine Evga GTX780 no prob. When i put his MSI in my rig, not even a tick after pressing power button. That card must be fried for good, because not even board powers up, nothing, no fans, no beeps, no click noise in psu. There must be short-circuit somewhere causing the Seasonic psu to disable totally. I have weird feeling. I think, the card cannot break this way by "itself". I would think, that the psu fail and then it damages gpu. But as I say - my gpu in brothers rig = ok. Have you experienced something like this before ?
  21. Hello, my brother's graphics card died yesterday evening (it was MSI GTX780 3GD5, btw). Today I laboured a bit, tried to pull components, run the pc with my psu, and found out that GPU is dead. The pc won't turn on at all - no fans, no error beeps nothing, while card installed in there. Now I have removed it, but can't boot to windows 8.1 anymore. The OS is installed on SSD drive, secure boot is and also was disabled before, nothing fancy there. When i turn the computer on, i get that rolling circle showing windows loading, then the screen remains blank (black). I turn off, then on and sometimes i get "Windows coudln't boot normally, blah blah" screen but it won't help. Some ideas, how to fix this ? The installed CPU is 4770K, which should have integrated graphics. I also set it in bios for IGD. The motherboard is Z87-G45 gaming from MSI.
  22. Like the Z2. I liked Z1 very much, but Htc One m7 won that day. I have never used skin on my phone, but this orange one looks great on the Z2, the cuts seem super precise - that's what I like about DBrand.
  23. Those having problems, please check my thread -> http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/180620-gtx780-watch-dogs-settings/ The mod, about which is @JustTooDark talking improved, actually reduced most of stutter on mine GTX780.
