  1. I have a home nas set up running windows 10 with 40 TB in storage spaces parity. It serves as my plex server as well. When I transfer files to it via the network (1 Gb Cat 5e) im getting about 45 Mbps max transfer speeds and task manager shows my network maxing out at 100%. This does not change when i try small vs big file sizes. My question is, is it my network that is bottle-necking my transfer speeds or is it the storage spaces parity that is slowing things down. 1 series can be 100 GB+ and it takes a while at 45 Mbps. When i first set up the system i was getting consistent 100 Mbps + transfer speeds. Then one day it just dropped and hasn't changed since. Can someone please explain what i am doing wrong? I'm relatively new to network shares and setting up a network. TIA
  2. Replying to help anyone resolving a similar issue. Apparently moving my router from one room to another created a "new" network or something. I have xfinity and had to go into the app on my phone and delete my nas name and forget it on the network because i had my nas name 2 different times on my network and im assuming both were trying to talk over each other? As i said, i'm new to networking so i dont know the proper terminology but deleting them both from my network via the app and renaming my nas and remapping my drive fixed the issue for me.
  3. Yesterday i had my entire setup in one room. Both my nas pc and my main pc, the switch, and my router. I moved my entire setup to another room and thats when this problem started. Everything worked perfectly before. Now i can only access the share drive either when my nas pc is on wifi or when my main computet is connected to a vpn. Its weird i know.
  4. Here is my situation. I have a computer running plex with my media library on a share drive so i can add from other computers on the network. it double's as my home nas. When i connect my nas to my network via ethernet into an unmanaged switch into my router i am unable to access the share drive on any other computer. after hours of troubleshooting i just unplugged the ethernet and let it use built in wifi and now i can map my drives and folders and everything works fine on every device. The error i was getting when connected via ethernet was your device is configured correctly but the device i was trying to talk to was not responding. I'm new to networking. could someone please tell me what is going on?
  5. No it's not that nordvpn is blocking me from accessing my share drive. I can only access my share drive when connected to nord vpn. If i'm not connected to the vpn it tells me i don't have permission to access this drive. While im logged in on an admin account and the same account thats the owner of the share drive.
  6. Here is my issue. I have a home nas box running out of an old computer. I have the drive shared on my network with permissions set so that my microsoft account has full control. I can only access the mapped share drive from my main computer if i have nordvpn running. If it is not running it tells me that i don't have permission to access \\"computer name"\"drive". I am relatively new to this and i'm not sure how to access the share drive while im not connected to nordvpn as it bottlenecks my speeds. any help would be greatly apprecated.
  7. I am transferring the same kind of files as i was yesterday. It's a media library with different files ranging from 500Mb to 2Gb per file split into different folders which are broken into different sub folders. I'm in the process of backing up my library and i started yesterday and tried to finish today when i ran into this issue.
  8. I purchased a 12TB WD Easystore usb 3.0 external hard drive to backup my media files to. When i am transferring files it start out at 70mb/s and will periodically drop to 20mb/s or even stall out to 0mb/s for a few seconds then go back up to 70mb/s then back down again. I have tried changing to removable device policy from quick disconnect to better performance and the only change is instead of capping at 70mb/s it caps at 30mb/s but the fluctuation to 20mb/s or even 0mb/s is still there. I purchased the drive yesterday and i was getting steady 100mb/s+ transfers yesterday but today this is happening. any idea what is going on?
  9. Both task manager and MSI afterburner read 0%-5% GPU utilization
  10. Apologies if this has already been asked but i can't find any help with my situation and I'm fairly new to enthusiast level computers. Here is my situation. In every game i run i get between 50%-80% CPU utilization and 0%-5% CPU utilization. although i am able to maintain 60fps in every game i play i was just curious what could be causing the 0% utilization on my GPU. Could it be that my cpu is bottle necking my gpu or could it be a issue with the mismatched ram? The ram without xmp enabled reads 2133mhz but with it enabled it is running at 3000mhz. Thank you in advance.
