  1. I'm having trouble finding a headset that supports 7.1 surround on Linux. I made a similar post on Reddit and was recommended the Steelseries Arctis 7P+. I looked it up, but am having trouble verifying that it works without software, or with an open source alternative to Steelseries software. Does this headset work with surround on Linux, or, if not, does anyone know one that does?
  2. Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm not even sure if this exists, but I'm looking for an AM4 board that supports OOB management for a home lab I'm setting up with an old Ryzen 5 3600 I have. If this doesn't exist, then are there any alternatives
  3. I need some help looking for a laptop. I don't need anything too fancy, but upgradeable ram would be nice. Ideally 14-15". Budget is around $600-$700.
  4. I was looking for a good distro for the 12th gen version of the Framework laptop, but I'm not sure which distro, if any, will properly use the p-cores/e-cores. Any recommendations?
  5. I was looking at buying a framework laptop, and I plan on putting linux on while since I'm currently learning it. I was wondering which distro would best make use of the p-cores/e-cores, if any existed at all.
  6. My Ryzen 5 3600 isn't boosting to the rated 4.2GHz, in fact I don't think I've ever seen it hit it in the 2 years I've had it. It will boost to 4.0, but I figured it should hit the rated speed, otherwise it wouldn't be sold. Does anyone know any reason why this might be, or a solution? Specs: Ryzen 5 3600 MSI B450 Tomahawk Max G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600 CL19 RX 6600 Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 750W Edit: I mainly use this for gaming
  7. So I have the recurring issue where my CPU (Ryzen 5 3600) will get pinned at 100%. If I close the application that's causing it, then another one takes it's place, in fact, half the time is task manager itself taking up most of my CPU power. As I type this task manager is taking up about 50% of my CPU resources right now. I doubt it's a virus as all I really do online outside of gaming is watch YouTube and use Google (and even then I don't click shady links), so I'm wondering if anyone has a potential fix for this issue? Edit: I tried restarting, no effect. Ram utilization sitting at 3.6GB/16GB Specs Ryzen 5 3600 MSI B450 tomahawk max 16GB Ripjaws V 3600MHz CL19 Quadro P400 (in between graphics card upgrades)
  8. Specs: RYzen 5 3600 MSI B450 Tomahawk Max 16GB Ripjaws V 3600MhzCL19 RX 580 Seasonic Focus Gold 750W I already have a GPU upgrade lined up (RX 6600xt), I just haven't actually gotten around to buying the card yet. Is there any reason to upgrade anything else? I can see the benefits of upgrading any of these, such as PCIe 4.0 for the new card, or lower latency RAM, the processor one is kind of self-explanatory, but I can't decide on which one is going to more important for me in the long run. I'll be mostly gaming on this system.
  9. Title says it. The 6600 I found is ~$480 USD, and the 6600xt is ~$510 USD. Ignoring the fact that this is well over MSRP, is it worth the extra cost?
  10. There've been a weird series of glitches and errors with my computer since I cleaned the CPU cooler. By themselves they wouldn't be alarming, but they all happened within the past hour and a half. The only damage I can think of that I might have done was dropped one of the case screws in between the CPU and the RAM when putting the side panel back on. Event 1: Call of Duty thinking my computer hardware changed, even though I only cleaned the CPU cooler. Event 2: CPU fan ramped up from 50% at 61 degrees to 100% at the same temperature, I had to manually reset the fan curve, which still said it was only supposed to go to 100% at 80C. Event 3: Weird glitch with the browser where a webpage went black and the AMD Bug Report menu popped up. I switched off of the tab and switched back to see if that would fix it, and when I tried to switch back, chrome showed that I had clicked it, it said it was on that tab, but it still displayed the webpage from the previous tab. Event 4: CPU temp dropped to 50C, after checking utilization, I saw that it was at 3%, and that it had actually dropped to 0% for a moment. (Normal on the desktop is around 10-15%). Event 5: This one is less of a one time ting and more of just a general issue that only started after closing up my computer. The cooler (the stock cooler from the Ryzen 5 3600) now has a higher pitched whine than it did before. Specs: Ryzen 5 3600 MSI B450 Tomahawk Max 16GB 3600MHz CL19 Ripjaws V Rx 580 8gb 750W Seasonic Focus Plus Gold
  11. I have the Ryzen 5 3600, using the stock cooler. At idle, my temps are around the high 60s low 70s, while gaming it usually hovers around 80, sometimes spiking to 85 when it's loading something. There's no overclock, but the CPU cooler and case fans are constantly running at max speed (case fans are quite so with headphones on it doesn't bother me). I have the Corsair 4000D Airflow, so airflow isn't an issue. So my question is, are these temps even high enough to worry about, or should I be looking at a cooler upgrade?
  12. figured I might as well get the rx 6600 for basically the same price.

One thing it does have to have is wifi, whether it be as a PCIe card or integrated into the motherboard. There's not much space at his place, so I tried to keep it small, but that's a loose requirement.
  14. Not being able to use the computer isn't a problem, I have an old quadro card that could allow it to work at least, but I get what you mean.
  15. Title pretty much says it Current specs: Ryzen 5 3600 G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600 CL19 RX 580 8GB MSI B450 Tomahawk Max Seasonic Focus 750W Gold I'm trying to upgrade the GPU, but realistically I could upgrade the whole system for a fairly reasonable price (maybe not reasonable, but an ok price for the market). However, if I should sell the entire thing, how much should I sell it for?
  16. The thing is, DDR5 is just too new to be worth it right now. In a few years it might be good, but right now it's just not. For now just get DDR4, you'll get better performance.
  17. I'm playing games at 1080p 144fps, I was wondering if the XT variant of the card is worth the extra $100+ or if I should just get a the regular RX 6600?
  18. Which one specifically? It might help to know the exact specs of it.
  19. Yes, but sometimes a good membrane switch is better than a crappy mechanical one.
