  1. Had to write this somewhere. I'm a disabled guy (wheelchair user, can use only one hand) and games have progressively become harder and harder for me to play. I like games such as factorio and satisfactory, but because of controls i can barely play them, but not now, Dyson sphere programme is on the scene. It has point and click (aswd has been bane of my life, especially combined with moving camera,, but not with this game) i could almost hug the developers. It is just a fantastic game. I'm a middle aged bloke who can remember being able to compete, play equally, in the age of the sinclair zx81/commodore 64, but as technology has evolved gaming has become less accessible to me. Please check out the game and give the developers recognition for making an accessible game. Just wanted to put in positive word
  2. Hi Quick and simple question: is there a way to bypass iphone lock screen for specific apps/notifications? I have been given a ring doorbell for christmas ( great gift, especially as i am a disabled person, gives more security and will minimise the chance of missing deliveries, as i' m slow to get to my front door). The issue i'm having is that when i get doorbell notification i still need to unlock phone (faceid sometimes works, but usually need to enter code, slowing down my response to ring). Is there a way to allow the ring app to be accessible without having to go through the unlock rigmarole? I have an xr with latest ios.
  3. Cheers, appreciate response. It used to auto-flip all profiles, but does no longer - bit disappointing and frustrating.
  4. Hi I'm a disabled, one handed, bloke. I have a steelseries rival mouse (imo most accessible mouse for my impairment) and an apex 7 kboard. Recently profiles for various games/activities to not auto swap profiles (even though directed to correct exes). Why might this be and how do i fix? Not the end of world to need to manually select profiles, just frustrating. Cheers A
  5. I have just ordered a second hand rega dac-r. This will replace my Cambridge Audio dacmagic 100. I have chosen to upgrade for the following reasons: I have not scratched my hifi itch in a while the dacmagic has only 1 optical connection (which is taken by tv) the dac-r seems to get a good write up sub £500 (I did consider the m-dac, but seems to have a bewildering number of filtering options and has gotten average reviews) Reviews i've seen regarding usb connectivity of the dac-r seem to be a bit meh. I therefore would like to connect to my pc via optical s/pif. My computer has the following motherboard: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-B450-F-GAMING/ . This is where my question(s) lie: how do I correctly connect using optical (do i activate onboard audio in bios and then output shows in control panel/sounds, allowing me to set as default)? are there any additional things i need to do in windows to get best out of dac (Asio4all, wdm, etc)? Does optical out bypass windows mixer (I want all processing done in dac, no premixing, bit-perfect) I mainly use tidal (inc masters) for playback and have a small library of music files stored on a nas drive. Weirdly, since ordering the dac-r, the wee dacmagic 100 is sounding better than it ever has, almost like it knows it's about to be replaced. I expect delivery mid-week and any advice is appreciated.
  6. I'm a bit wasted and looking around the old tech in my livingroom. I've foundd a small lcd screen with usb attachment. I remember it displaying system information. Now, I've recently revived an early version ipad mini, wtth the intention of using it as a universal remote with integrated twitter etc, plus to watch youtube at bedtime. I kinda like finding uses for all gear. I charge the ipad from a usb on my computer, and this got me thinking. Might there be a way of getting the ipad to display my system information while charging. Is this possible, or is there is a strong possibility that i have no idea what i'm talking about?
  7. That seems just the ticket. I might have heard of this vaguely. Has it got anything to do with cdpr?
  8. Just a quick question: It seems to me that nowadays when i buy a game it is linked with steam or something similar, each with separate logins. Not to mention things like eve, blizzard launcher, elite dangerous launcher. Is there a piece of software that might act as a central interface. I'm thinking of something that when installed asks me to enter log in details for each client and then auto logs to all on launchers, creating a central interface. Not even counting origin, not sure if that still exists. All these launcher are beginning to drive me insane!
  9. if i got led panel, should it be in front of me, behind, to the side, which? Obviously you cannot tell my exact situation, but generally?
  10. Hi Like many people during this unusual time I've recently bought a webcam to keep in touch with people, both for work and maybe a virtual pint. I opted for a logitech brio stream 4k. This is something i would have never have bought in normal times, but fancied buying a needless gadget in uncertain times. I've installed logitech capture and have used skype and zoom (not sure about long term security of latter) and every source seems noisy and often soft. I've turned on every light in the house or made sure that i have as much natural light as possible but every image looks like a low grade phone. I've fiddled with every setting in capture and nothing seems to make that much of a difference. Now, I'm a hifi guy, spent way too much over the years on speakers, amps, fancy dancey cables etc, I know in the grand scheme of things £200 is nothing in the world of cameras: you'd probably pay that for a screw in some fancy gimble, but i'd expect as least as good an image as that from my iphone. Please will some of you lovely people give me some advice to get the best out of this piece of...?
  11. Hi, I made this ppost a few days ago: I was slightly complaining about accessibility in modern games. Since posting i have spent a fair bit of money on the following plus all expansions. Stellaris has an interface which i can use and seems to have major depth. I'm still learning the basics, but can see it taking up entire weekends, can' t wait to get my teeth into it
  12. Give me back the days of a joystick with a big red button on top and and autofire switch on base. I'm an ol' ba****, first computer was a sinclair zx 81, 1kk memory, black and white, no proper keyboard
  13. The rival mouse is great. To you statik , i might be able to use a trackpad, would have to see it. There are people out there that make accessible controllers, ben heck seemingly the best, but they are all quite expensive. Now I'd be happy to pay if knew whatever the item was the right thing, but i don't know until it use it. I have spent hundreds on accessible stuff over the years and none of it has been of any use. One that springs to mind is a one handed controller for the ps1, it strapped to my arm with buttons on the fingers - expensive and completely useless
