  1. check that the ssd is in properly, but if that does not work, the ssd is most likely dead
  2. It is probably because your laptop cant run anything at 4k 144hz and you are getting 20fps in whatever you are playing at 4k
  3. Ok i will look into it although im in the uk. I will check if they have that monitor in the uk
  4. There is a similar element gaming qhd 144hz monitor over here in the uk for just over £200 and i watched some videos on it and apparently its pretty good. Im not sure though as i will have to save up for a few more months and i only have a 60hz samsung monitor with my 1080 system
  5. Hm i think ill just get a 1080p because i wont be able to get 144fps in bf5 on max settings qhd
  6. Hey, i recently got a new pc with an r7 2700x, a evga gtx 1080 ftw and 16 gigs of corsair veng rgb pro ram. Im not sure if i should get a 1080p 144hz monitor or a 1440p 144hz monitor. I plan to play games like gta v, battlefield v and COD on it. And also some csgo( i know i get like 300 fps in that). My main game is battlefield v and i feel like for that my system will only be able to push 144fps at 1080p. Are there any suggestions you can give me whether i should get a qhd 144hz or a fhd 144hz?
  7. Hey, i was wondering what the max i could overclock my ryzen 7 2700x to. Any suggestions?
  8. Just bin the laptop, if it idles on 90 degrees, it will break in a couplw months anyway. If you want a cheap laptop, get like an acer aspire 5 or something or save up to get a desktop
  9. You will not lose any of your data unless you format or swap the ssd. Just take the ssd out the old system, and put it in the new one. I would recommend the ryzen system as it is cheaper and performs better in most cases. After you upgrade you might just need to upgrade some drivers and then you are ready to go. If you want to do some overclocking you should get a 3rd party cooler but if you want to leave it at stock just use the stock cooler.
  10. If you are a gamer and you only need to have 1 setup at home, just get a desktop. No one hears the fan sounds because you always wear a headset when gaming. You cant upgrade a laptop in a couple years when it gets sluggish, you just throw it away and get a new one. Besides, laptops are A LOT more expensive than desktops. I built myself a brand new gaming system for 800 bucks with an r7 2700x, a gtx 1080 gpu and corsair veng rgb pro ram. A laptop with that config would cost close to 2000 dollars. If you really like gaming on the go then sure, get a laptop, but i would recommend one with a 1080p 144hz screen as laptop screens are generally quite small and you really dont need a 4k screen on a 15 inch laptop.
  11. The reason a lot of laptops look stupid with a gamery design is because they need to be thick for cooling. Instead of making their laptop a 2 inch thick rectangular brick, they make it look somewhat less fat by adding edges which may give the illusion that they are not as fat as they actually are. Although i completely agree with you about the fact that gaming laptops these days look stupid with their gamery designs. But if you want a thin, clean looking laptop you are gonna need to take the compromise of having less performance. In a thin chassis like razer's, the most powerful graphics card you could probably use without thermal throttling is probably around about a rtx 2060 max q or a gtx 1660 ti. For CPUs its even more complicated as intel's wattage figures are almost always wrong. But i would say in a thin and light gaming laptop the best cpu you could use without throttling is an i7 9750h or maybe an i7 9850h. No special mobile i9s or anything like that. You probably wont be able to play 4k or anything on a razer blade 17 without some serious throttling. And thats the same with any other thin and light gaming laptop. Sorry for the essay on thin and light gaming laptops
  12. For me every 3 to 4 years or if it breaks a couple years in i might upgrade
  13. I would recommend upgrading to an r5 3600 or maybe an r7 2700x if you need the extra cores. For a mobo i would recommend an MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX or a Gigabyte b450 aorus elite as that claims to be 3rd gen ryzen ready. Although i cant confirm that as i have a 2nd gen r7 2700x and b450 aorus elite. Dont bother with an x470 chipset, they are a lot more expensive than b450 and you dont need insane power delivery for an r5 3600 or r7 2700x. If you really want a top of the line amd mobo get an x570. You can find some really good ones for around 150 to 200 dollars/pounds. But other than that your system looks pretty sweet
  14. If he uses a different motherboard he will need to buy a new key as windows will think its a different pc And also tbh an i5 7400 is an almost certain bottleneck for a gtx 1080 equivalent card. A quad core with no hyperthreading is going to be a bottleneck no matter what.
