  1. Hi, I have this extremely weird and random problem with my SSD where it is sometimes not recognized on boot. Here are my specs: *Ryzen 5 2600 (No OC) *MSI B450M Pro-VDH Plus *4x8GB of XPG Z1 DDR4 3000 MHz RAM *RX580 8GB @1370/2150 MHz *Crucial MX100 256GB SSD *1TB and 500GB Seagate HDDs *Highpower Astro GD+ 850 watt 80+G PSU *Windows 10 Pro x64, Kubuntu 20.10 (dual-booting) *Latest BIOS (that still supports Ryzen 2000) I only recently started to dual boot Kubuntu and Windows, but this problem happened before that too. As far as I can tell, there is absolutely no pattern to this issue whatsoever. For example, it happened after about 1 month of working fine yesterday, before that, it had happened several times in a week. Other things I need to add about the SSD, it's currently at 94% health according to SMART, the issue never happens while rebooting (only from a cold start), and that I have been unable to update the firmware on it using either the Crucial software, or even using bootable disks. I have tried different SATA cables and headers on the motherboard as well. Is my SSD dying?
  2. Mine was an unstable OC. Removing the OC fixed it.
  3. So you think my motherboard is safe to put the new CPU in? I won't OC after this. I won't, not after this.
  4. Hi. My specs are as follows: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 (was overclocked to 4.0 GHz all core at 1.375v as set in the BIOS) DeepCool GAMMAXX 300 CPU cooler (max temperature reached, 85 C on full load, typically mid 70s while gaming) MSI B450M Pro-VDH Plus Motherboard 4x8GB XPG 3000 MHz RAM (did not post at the 3000 MHz XMP profile with 4 sticks, only 2800 MHz worked) Gigabyte Radeon RX 580 8GB Highpower AstroGD 850 watt 80+ Platinum PSU (tier B, as seen in the PSU tier list) So, my CPU died a couple of days ago after a "PFN List Corrupt" BSOD; the PC didn't post after the reboot, the "CPU Failure" Debug LED was lit. I contacted the warranty. They confirmed the CPU was dead and gave me a replacement R5 2600. I still haven't put the system back together since I was afraid it would be my motherboard that killed the CPU. Motherboard shows no sign of damage to the VRMs, or caps, however. For reassurance, I had my PSU tested, and it is fine. 12, 5, and 3.3 volts are fine. I pulled the CMOS battery of the motherboard a few hours ago, to make sure it is cleared (not connected to the PSU either), and I also pulled 2 RAM sticks. So, my question in the end is that, how did my CPU died? Was it the overclock? Can my motherboard have overloaded it? I am afraid of putting the CPU back in, thinking the motherbaord might kill it. Anyway I can safely test the motherboard, with no CPU?
  5. It says it has 94% life remaining and that it is in perfect condition.
  6. Hey everyone, I have the following PC: *Ryzen 5 2600 @4.0GHz *MSI B450M Pro-VDH Plus *16GB of XPG Z1 DDR4 3000 MHz RAM (Dual Channel) *RX580 8GB @1370/2150 MHz *Crucial MX100 256GB SSD (running MU02 firmware) *1TB and 500GB Seagate HDDs *Highpower Astro GD+ 850 watt 80+G PSU *Windows 10 Pro x64 *Latest BIOS from 22nd of June, AGESA 1.0.0.6 Recently, my Crucial MX100 tends to diappear from BIOS (be unrecognized), when turning on the PC from a cold start. I have relatively recently upgraded to Ryzen (start of 2020), and didn't have this problem with my old FX system. I need to add, I have tried changing the SATA cable or the SATA port on my motherboard, and the drive still behaves like this. Furthermore, I haven't been able to update the drive from the MU02 firmware to MU03. Neither method of the storage executive software from Crucial and the bootable thumb drive method works. Storage Executive states that the firmware is invalid (I have downloaded it several times), and the bootable thumb drive method just simply doesn't boot into the firmware update environment. I have tried different thumb drives. I have attached the SMART reading from storage sentinle below. Any help is appreciated.
  7. Hey everyone, I have the following PC: *Ryzen 5 2600 @4.0GHz *MSI B450M Pro-VDH Plus *16GB of XPG Z1 DDR4 3000 MHz RAM (Dual Channel) *RX580 8GB @1370/2150 MHz *Crucial MX100 256GB SSD *1TB and 500GB Seagate HDDs *Highpower Astro GD+ 850 watt 80+G PSU *Windows 10 Pro x64 *Latest BIOS from 22nd of June, AGESA 1.0.0.6 I have tested the CPU OC with Prime95 and Cinebench r20. the RAM is tested with memtest. I also need to add that the RAM has recently been upgraded, and this crash happened with the previous RAM too. The GPU has been running at these clocks for years, before I upgraded to my Ryzen CPU (from FX-8320) and didn't have any problems. EnhancedSync is also disabled in AMD drivers. One thing I have observed about the crash, is that it happens when the PC isn't being particularly stressed. It never happens in Cinebench, MATLAB, or during gaming. It often happens right after boot, and once has happened during browsing. It happens really randomly, with no particular pattern. May go weeks without a crash and then happen twice in three days. The screen first freezes for a second, then goes black. I don't notice the fans ramping up, but the GPU RGB starts behaving strangely, the "FAN STOP" sign starts flashing. I feel like I need to add this, but it might be irrelevant. The 500GB HDD I have, has several bad sectors; but it has been added to my PC before upgrading to Ryzen, so I don't think that's the cause. I don't know what else to try. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  8. Hey everyone, I have the following system: Ryzen 5 2600 MSI B450M-Pro VDH Plus 2x4GB 2400 C17 RAM (Overclocked to 2933 MHz C14) (Gloway RAM, Nanya chipsets) So far, I have not had any problems with it, except for some random boot loops that were fixed with a Windows reinstall. Evidently, I cheaped out on the RAM since I only use my PC for gaming, media consumption, and word processing, and I don't multitask that much. I know this question is asked before, but I was looking for anecdotes of people who might have had done this. So, if I wanted to upgrade my RAM in the future, would it be okay to add two sticks of different brand, but with similar clock and timing in the system? I ran my FX-8320 with 2 GeIL and 2 Crucial sticks with similar clocks and timings for years, and it never had any issues. I wanted to see if Ryzen is any different. Thanks.
  9. Hey, My company was getting rid of some old broken HDDs, and since I'm friends with the IT guys, they let me rummage through them and pick one. So I got this Seagate 1 TB HDD at 96% health, but with "some I/O issues". I brought it home, hooked it up to the system, and it booted fine. Formatted the drive, and it worked fine for a couple of days. Then, suddenly, the PC refused to boot with this HDD connected. I disconnected it and it worked fine, but when I connect the HDD to the system now, it is not recognized at all. I'm not dumb so I only moved some rather unimportant data over to it, but I'd still like that data back and maybe have the cheap extra TB, is there any way to fix it?
  10. Hi! I have an old Core2Duo E7400, that I was thinking of repurposing as a 4K HDR capable HTPC as cheaply as possible. I can get a GT 1030 for ~100$ where I live, is that enough to make the machine capable of playing 4K HDR content, and Steam Link? Thanks.
