  1. I tried what you suggested, but unfortunately nothing appears to have changed. My read is 405 and write is 395 when I should be getting upwards of 500 in both read and write
  2. I recently picked up a Samsung 860 EVO ssd and after installing it, it looks like the speeds are not as fast as they're supposed to be. I already have an 850 EVO that works fine. My motherboard is the Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO. I've tried updating to the most recent firmware, using a different sata port and all different cables. In addition, when running UserBenchMark my computer crashes when benchmarking the 860 EVO and give me the error DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION, which seems to be some sort of SSD related error. I've also tried an identical 860 EVO and it still runs slow and gives me the same error when running UserBenchMark. I've attached a picture showing the status of the 2 drives in the Samsung magician software. Any suggestions or ideas that can help me troubleshoot this drive would be greatly appreciated. I also installed the same drive with no problems and it seems to be running perfectly on my dad's computer which has a Gigabyte motherboard. Could this be a compatibility issue?
  3. Thank you everyone for the replies! I'll be sure to add less next time!
  4. Yes my motherboard is the Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO and it is plugged into one of the 8 6GB/s SATA ports along with the boot ssd
  5. So I finally decided to add a second SSD to my system. My first one is a 1tb Samsung 850 EVO which holds everything on my computer and the new one I just installed is a 2tb 860 EVO. Now my 850 performs great and always has, but when I bench marked my new 860 it's showing pretty sub par read and write speeds. At first I thought maybe it's just showing that because it doesn't have anything stored on it, so I filled it up a bit, but still got the same result. It's my understanding that the 860 is supposed to perform slightly better than the previous generation. I ran the full diagnostic scan in the Samsung Magician software and it came up with no problems. Another thing that concerns me is that when I run the program UserBenchmark to benchmark my system, the system crashes when it gets to testing my 2tb drive and I'm not sure why. Does anybody know what the problem might be? How should I troubleshoot this? Is this a faulty drive?
  6. I finally decided to upgrade my i7 4790k from a stock intel cooler to a Dark Rock Pro 4 and potentially do some mild overclocking. After finishing the installation I sent my friend a picture of how much thermal paste I applied and he told me it was too much. Do you guys think it's too much? Is it going to affect performance in any noticeable way? My CPU looks to be idling at about 33c. Thanks in advance!
