It was my freshman year in college. I don't remember if It was an AMD Athlon or a Duron, but it was my first AMD build (I had an Intel Pentium III before this). I fried the processor on an ECS motherboard when I turned it on for the first time after assembling it.
I saved up what little money I had back then just to get it only to screw it up. However, it was a good thing that the store I bought it from RMA'd without asking how I effed it up.

Well in Florida the closest thing to a tech store is Best Buy, I cant find any cherry Mx brown keyboards there.

Biostar X470GT8, by far.
On paper it sounds like a really good motherboard, it had one of the most expensive and well put together VRMs out there by the time it launched but not by love nor money that thing could OC RAM properly.
It was so bad to the point of me just giving up on it entirely and getting a previous generation ASRock X370 Professional which in fact can OC RAM properly.
Thankfully the store i bought it from refunded me the entire value of the purchase even after the return policy was over, because even they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it.

I built my first PC back in 2005 I was still in HS and i forgot to install Motherboard standoffs in case, I ended up frying 2 PSU's and 2 Motherboards before I realized what was wrong.
Good memories there Intel Pentium 4 650 with Hyper Threading
