  1. First of all I’d like to thank all of you for your quick answers. So according to all of you it shouldn’t be a problem. Btw I do know enough about pc’s to know I will need a second ram slot. I don’t know what exact motherboard I have but I do know it has 4 ram slots. So again thanks to all of you
  2. Ok so I build a budget build and it has 8 gb of ram (this one) and I would like to upgrade it to 16gb. I was wondering that if I buy the exact same one again and add it to my sytem will it cause any problems or will it just work?
  3. Or is there any other cheap network card you'd recommend (for this)
  4. I think I found it. I think it is the: MCP61 Ethernet (rev a2) Would it help if i bought something like this: TP-Link TG-3468

  6. when I ran the command lspci a few lines of text came up but I didnt see NIC anywhere. Do you know where to look. Or would you like me to paste it in here The distro I used was ubuntu.
  7. Ok so I tried to run linux from a usb but it kept saying unable to connect even though it did detect the ethernet cable was plugged in. And thats while windows just works. could it maybe be that it is directly plugged into an router? or do I need to change some setting in my router/modem?
  8. Well like I said I dont know what nic my mb has. I am using the N68-GS4 FX R2.0 as a motherboard. I am trying to order a 2.5 gb/s network card for it but at the moment I dont have any other network cards. The issue was that I couldnt get a ip for the web ui. I tried mupltiple oses and they all gave me the 0.0.0.0 ip
  9. Dont worry about it I fixed it. Thank you for your effort. But I would appreciate it if you could maybe help me try and get those other oses running
  10. Iperf told me that the transfer speed is: 644 MBytes and the Bandwith is 557 MBits/sec (this is between server and client by running iperf -s iperf -c <IP> with -s on the server and -c on the PC I dont know what NIC my board has I have the N68-GS4 FX R2.0 (and yes id love to get the other oses work). What would you like me to try within ubuntu? and the network protocol is just TCP/IP I think And btw thank you for still helping
  11. I am just using windows 10 as OS because i couldnt get freenas or Open Media Vault working they both would give me the 0.0.0.0 ip for the web GUI and i couldnt fix it No i am not using any kind of raid And I dont know what network protocol, i just plugged in a Ethernet cable

  14. So I set up an old pc as mine as a nas I shared all the hard drives over my home network using lan but whenever I try to upload a file the writing speed starts at around 100Mb/s but then it slows down until it eventually reaches 0 and then it just stops. Could someone please help me?
  15. Ok thank you very much. I only have 1 question. Lets say it doesnt matter that my 2 drive's will show up as one big one is it then just possible to buy a splitter or still not?
