  1. Thanks! I'm looking to pick up a Lian Li Dan Case A4 H2O.
  2. I'm looking to build an ITX computer but by existing Artic II 240 is 67mm thick and will not fit the 55mm space available. Either: 1) Keep AIO and buy slim noctua fans. (Thick rad, slim fans) 2) Buy replacement 55mm AIO, likely Lian Li 240. (Std rad, std fan) I'm leaning towards buying a new AIO (~$100). I'm typically more time constrained than budget constrainted. Noctua fans x2 ($40-45), plus (~$30 air cooler) so i can sell old tower as functional. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/ServerSherpa/saved/gGpqdC Case Lian Li A4 H2O Thanks, opinions welcome.
  3. Both laptops can be had for around $700 and there's a good argument for both. I'm pretty sick of the windows modern standby issue and having my Thinkpad be dead half the time I go to use it. I've talked a lot of crap on Apple's practices over the years but what they've done with the M1 chip is just impressive good technology. I can eat some crow and see myself buying a used macbook air, and still sleep at night because I'm not directly handing cash to Apple. Framework seems a great company but I really don't need the newest hardware or mind some cosmetic blemishes. I'm very partial to the older style Thinkpad keyboard and Framework seems to be similar. Keyboard is the #1 item to me for laptops. I'd appreciate any opinions or addition information you all might have. Thanks!
  4. Budget (including currency): $1,500-2,500 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: BG3, mostly story driven / turn based games, and occasional hobbyist 3D modeling. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Goal: Navigating to an ITX build when it makes reasonable sense to jump. Ideally reselling/re-homing old hardware. For background I switched to a new job and living arrangement, so now there's more disposable income and less space. With GPU availability and things like the NewEgg trade in program it seems like a good time for some kind of upgrade or re-build. I'm overthinking options and would appreciate some other techie opinions. My circle of friends are not very tech savvy. Current Setup: 5700 XT Red Dragon Intel i5-8400 G.Skill RIpjaw (4x8GB DDR4) 280mm CPU cooler Some GigaByte Mobo. 650W Good Quality Power Supply Some Cheap Corsair ATX case with plastic window. 1) Simply buy a used ITX (mobo, PS, & case) and use current hardware. -5700XT is relatively compact and still totally handles my GPU wants. 2) Wait until 5700XT is older in the tooth and full upgrade. -Seems it'd be harder to keep the hardware out the landfill when it is older. 3) Full rebuild now and selloff old rig. -Easier to sell now, it still meets minimum specs for Starfield. 4) Wild Card: Go full portable and try gaming laptop like a Framework 17 with GPU module. 5) Double Wild?: Go eGPU enclosure??
  5. I'm taking my card back to air cooled after having some water cooling issues. Where do you find the pad thickness info? I bought .5, 1.0, and 1.5 to be prepared for what's needed.
  6. I have a 5700XT Red Dragon waterblock but no installation instructions. The seller has not been helpful and I've not found a good way to contact the vendor. I'm pretty handy but I've never done watercooling, should I just wing it?? Or is there another resource I should try for installation guidance?? Thanks
  7. What project have you all enjoyed doing most as a techie hobby? I've had a lot of fun helping friends/family build PCs and teaching them how to solder on a little radio kit. I'm thinking of getting into voice recording to do some pro-bono work reading some book chapters for Librox. Much love all. Cheers!
  8. Do you find 32in to be a substantial improvement for productivity over the 27 inch? I've considered buying the larger size but it seemed like an area of diminishing returns. The 32 inch monitors do look pretty baller though.
  9. It's a different product but I have not been happy with my Yeti Snowball. I've been suggested to consider the MXL 770.
  10. Hello, I currently have an 27gl850 which I'm quite happy with but want to replace/upgrade my old 22" 1080p monitor. I don't need the monitor for gaming. I'll mainly just use the monitor for random background shows and additional productivity workspace. I'm looking at this 27" 1440p monitor (27MK600M-B) but I don't know if there's something else I should be considering? https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FFC14SZ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 I had considered a 27" 1080p but am not sure if a resolution mismatch matters? Much thanks for any advice or direction to more reading. I'd like to spend less than $300, so it's looking like I shouldn't worry or pay much attention to HDR. Also I don't do graphically or color critical work, mostly spreadsheets and tech documents.
  11. Thanks for the help! It's been awhile since I was actually up on computer hardware.
  12. I'm thinking about getting red dead redemption, rainbow six siege and battlefield one. I've been playing the batman trilogy, stellaris, and a little CS GO.
  13. Greetings, I built a computer around two years ago when I finally found a graphics card for retail price when crypto currency mining was really wild. I was running an eight year old desktop back then so I'm used to being behind the gaming hardware curve and don't especially mind it. I tend to play single player older games. This is my current setup now: Intel Core i5-8400 Desktop Processor 6 Cores up to 4.0GHz Turbo LGA1151 300 Series 65W BX80684i58400 EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC GAMING, 4GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) Graphics Card 04G-P4-6253-KR G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8GB) Ripjaws V Series DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GVKB Samsung 970 EVO 500GB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD (MZ-V7E500BW) GIGABYTE Z370P D3 (Intel LGA1151/ Z370/ ATX/ M.2/ GbE LAN with 25KV protection/ RGB Fusion/ Smart Fan 5/ USB 3.1/ ALC887/ HDMI/ Anti-Sulfur Resistors/ Corsair CS Series, CS650M, 650 Watt (650W), Semi Modular Power Supply, 80+ Gold Certified I'm looking to buy a graphics card and a 1440 144hz monitor. Right now I'm thinking this monitor: https://smile.amazon.com/LG-27GL850-B-Ultragear-Compatible-Monitor/dp/B07TD94TQF?sa-no-redirect=1 And either RTX 2070 Super or RX 5700, leaning towards the RX 5700. https://www.neweggbusiness.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9B-14-930-019&source=region&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleBiz-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleBiz-PC-_-pla-_-Video+Cards+-+AMD%2FATI-_-9B-14-930-019&gclid=CjwKCAiAxMLvBRBNEiwAKhr-nKT8Etv5Qe6_oDGUbkMcmBsDhwU6D_LczK0g7tBKAA_nSeJplwY1pxoCcJAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nvidia-nvidia-geforce-rtx-2070-super-8gb-gddr6-pci-express-3-0-graphics-card-black-silver/6361328.p?skuId=6361328&ref=212&loc=1&ref=212&loc=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAxMLvBRBNEiwAKhr-nJqat4uWn-VgTa3_UuZzZLYOyHb56cxyV4PowPYgDLwtDYL1_xTtWhoC_ewQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds I didn't really realize how much more powerful these other offerings were than the 1050 Ti. What are your thoughts? Thanks!
