  1. Try a different OS. I assume you're using W10. If you can find an image of 7, install it and see how that goes.
  2. Use a synthetic load to stress test your gpu. If nothing happens then your gpu is fine.
  3. If aliens do exist than they're here, one thing is for sure. Government leaders would kiss their ass as much as they can so they can get some of their technology, weaponize it and use it against other countries.
  4. With your hardware and PSU I wouldn't get anything above a 1050 ti.
  5. If you can't find one walled then you can always "wall" it yourself. Plywood is relatively cheap. If you don't have tools a jigsaw would only set you back like $30. Hammer, nails or glue shouldn't be more than $20.
  6. I hope this continues and crashes even harder. I want my gpu
  7. Not exactly sure what you mean by sides going down all the way to the floor. If you don't find the desk you like from places like Ikea, Amazon or other places... you can always go to Homedepot and build your own. I did just that. I wanted my son and I to be side by side when we're gaming. I couldn't find a desk wide and deep enough. I wanted it to be also in one piece. I wanted a carpet surface to not scratch anything when I fix things on the table. I bought the widest Ikea table and I put a big piece of plywood, about 3' deep and 8' wide. I'm extremely happy. All I used were cordless drill/screw driver, jig saw, box cutter and a hammer (for the tacks to hold the carpet in place). Desk was $90 and materials were another $40.
  8. Someone mentioned above about the personalities of Linux admins. They're right. I work with a couple of them. 2/3 of them are gigantic but holes. They look down on everyone else and give you an attitude when you need them to fix something. The other 1/3 are sweethearts. Will walk you thru from beginning to end.
  9. I'm ODC and I can't stand seeing the watermark. I used to have a powershell script running to get rid of it but it would find ways to show it's ugly face. For $5 really, it's no big deal at all.
  10. What I like about Linux is the ease of switching hardware. I pulled out my Ubuntu OS hard drive out of an old PC and put it into a more powerful system. From AMD to Intel to be exact. The computer booted and the OS took an extra minute or two to boot up. After booting up, it's like as if nothing happened. All the cores were recognized, ram, nic... like nothing happened. Didn't have to mess with OS licensing or anything.
  11. That stopped being a problem for me at least since you can now buy Windows keys for as little as $5. Their legitimacy is a gray area. But in the many years I've been using them, I've never encountered any problems. If one skips lunch, you should have the money to buy a license for a Windows OS.
  12. Download Ubuntu and do a dual boot. Play around with it. I use it for my Plex media server on an old POS dual core AMD system. Runs ok with up to 2 720p streams.
  13. Prebuilts also gouge you. If you spec out what you're buying by building yourself, you'll find that going prebuilt you're paying $500-$1,000 more. No way around it. Scalpers, manufacturers and retailers are all in the screwing the consumer business.
  14. You'll be using your GTX 1050 for a while. Unless you're willing to come up with $2,000 to buy a 6 series Nvidia gpu.
  15. https://wccftech.com/newegg-shuffle-may-15th-its-all-amd-in-todays-shuffle-with-the-ryzen-9-5950x-the-radeon-rx-6000-series-graphics-cards/ The good thing about Newegg gouging people is that some private scalpers will be deterred. Instead of them buying at msrp and selling to private buyers at double, private buyers would then rather buy from ScalpEgg (where they can return it if there's a problem) over a private seller they'll never see in their life again. I've given up on next gen gpus all together. In fact I've been playing MAME and SNES emulation lately on my on board graphics and it's been great.
