  1. Hi Guys, I recently purchased a Dell Docking Station WD19TB and it turns out it has it's service-tag sticker removed. I know that you can extract the service-tag through software, but I can't get the necessary prerequisite to install. Details on how to extract the service-tag: Tip: How to get a docking station serial number using PowerShell : Dell (reddit.com) Do you guys know of any way to overcome this issue? All I get is an error saying "This is not a dell machine" we can't install the package. Or maybe you know of a different way to get the service-tag? Thanks in advance Cheers
  2. I've been reading into this for the past 2h and it's the same story for most docking stations: Explaining 4K 60Hz Video Through USB-C Hub | Big Mess o' Wires (bigmessowires.com) You can even see this in this datasheet: i-tec USB-C Dual Display Docking Station with Power Delivery 100 W Unfortunatelly it looks like there is a Thunderbolt "standard" but there are also 100 different implementations and it makes this whole thing a huge mess.
  3. You haven't seen my edit. I already confirmed you're right. However according to the forums it only supports 4k/60 on DP 1.4, and my monitor only has DP 1.2.
  4. According to the specs on the site it has only 15W charging. You sure you have the same dock? EDIT: NVM - it supports 75W, however it only supports 4k 60Hz under DP 1.4, and my monitor only supports DP 1.2.
  5. Hi Guys, I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to figure things out, reading, checking, testing and tbh I've had enough. I am unable to find a single Thunderbolt 3/4 docking station (that does not cost 1000 USD) which would give me: PD 65W, Ethernet, 2x USB (can even be 2.0) and DP with 4k/60Hz support, that "just works". Everything either does not have PD, only supports 4k 30Hz max, doesn't have USB, or if it has all those things, it will have huge known connection/reconnection issues, flickering screens or some other problems. Do you guys know of a good docking station (I have TB4 with 11th gen Intel Asus Zenbook 14) that would "just work"? I would be very greatful for any suggestions, as I'm already pulling my hair out here. I never imagined that now with TB it would be harder to get something working, than it was during the old Dell docking station times. Cheers
  6. Hello Everyone, When I stumbled upon the Q30 video on ShortCircuit I was shocked by the relative praises these got. Sure, it was a sponsored video, but I trust Linus was not lying. After that I went on a hunt for actual reviews and to my surprise even the in-depth ones showed them as a true budget kings. However looking further I can see a lot of contradicting opinions. Many of them saying that they sound like a complete garbage and have ANC barely working at all. Could someone who actually bought them or maybe someone from LTT crew say what is the truth, or if possible compare them to Sony WH-CH700N which are in the same price point and also have ANC? I wanted to buy them as a gift, but I'm just too conflicted to decide and with how many lies there are on the internet I was hoping for an honest opinion. Thanks in advance Cheers
  7. Do you know, if it would it allow me to create a Simple space between 1 and 2 TB drives and then set up a Mirror space between 3 TB drive and the 3 TB Simple space?
  8. Hello Everyone, In the near future I'm planning to buy 2x 8TB HDDs and setup them in Raid 1 for redundancy, however I have my 3 old drives 3+2+1 TB, and I was wondering if it's possible to set them up in a way where they're Raid 1 in 3 + (1+2) configuration. Is it even possible? Because I have the space and if I can I would prefer to use them up while getting some redundancy that I'm seriously lacking. Cheers
  9. TBH I'm chasing the numbers a bit. Although in technology the numbers always matter, a bit more, a bit less, but they always matter. After I just spent approx 370 USD on a CPU + MOBO I want to see that it was worth it
  10. If it was my original system, sure, that would be great. But having the comparison I feel ripped off, because I could get my old set (i5-8400 + B360M Pro4) for half the price and apparently I would get better performance out of it.
  11. ADATA XPG GAMMIX D10, DDR4, 16 GB, 2666MHz, CL16 (AX4U266638G16-DBG) which is by luck in QVL for my mobo and it;s running the advertised 2666 on XMP, however I get worse latency then I did with intel without XMP.
  12. I don't want to waste my time on learning about RAM optimization in depth, because I will probably use it 5 times in my entire life I'm not a system integrator after all. If you need to learn about it to use Ryzen properly, then it should be put as a dislaimer on all Ryzen reviews. If it was I would go with Intel again. I was sure that after almost 4 years on the market these issues would be solved and automated for the user.
  13. Sure, but it was easy, with ryzen you have bloody comatibility tables that take into consideration RAM type (single rank/dual rank), processor generation, number of sticks etc. That's sick!
  14. Hello Everyone, I'm writing this post as a bit of a rant, but at the same time I would be grateful for any suggestions you might have for me. Recently I have spilled some tea on my pc (R.I.P.), however fortunately nothing but the motherboard and the CPU died (i5-8400 + B360M Pro4). After the incident, I decided to go, since it's so highly regarded, with Ryzen in my new build (5 3600 + B450 Pro4) and here's where my rant begins. For the first time in a long time, the setup process (from selecting parts to getting a boot) was a pain. It turns out that not only the RAM speed matters, but also RAM placement and setup is quirky when it comes to Ryzen. Not only that, but after the "upgrade" my system has worse performance in quite a few benchmarks and my RAM (which is the exact same as it was, but now with XMP enabled) is performing worse then before. How are not people complaining about it ALL the time in tech videos? RAM compatibility issues, RAM speed issues, RAM placement issues, RAM overclocking issues etc. I mean c'mon, I don't belive everyone knows everything about this stuff and is also 100% comfortable messing with RAM settings in BIOS. As for the cry for help - does anybody know a good step by step tutorial for optimizing your RAM/Ryzen performance? Because I feel like I was ripped off when buying this CPU, especially after all the praises it is given on YT (including LTT videos).
  15. Hi All, Could you reccomend any online co-op games that have that meet below criteria: 1. All players have to be "important" - I don't want a game where the other player is just a support character that doesn't really have anything to do. 2. The game has to have a story. I don't want MMOs or any sandbox games. 3. I would preferably like it to be a game that involves thinking and real co-operation (like Portal or A Way Out) - but it's not like I would reject a cool thought out shooter. 4. I would prefer it to be at least a few hours long. Not a 1-2h experiance. 5. No horror and pixel-art games. We already completed Portal 2, A Way Out and We Were Here games (P.S. - if you're looking for something similar I fully reccomend those ones) Can you help guys? Cheers
  16. Would you be so kind as to drop a link to some instructions on how to use it?
  17. Hi Guys, Do you know about any easy way (app) to check speed of internet connection between 2 computers? (for Windows) I can't seem to find anything, and I just refuse to accept the fact that such an app doesn't exists. Thanks in advance
  18. Hi All, I am planning to re-use my old pc as a file server and a Plex server. As far as Plex goes - I don't think there will be any problems. However I am afraid about the file sharing. For now I am planning to use Samba - however in the past I had issues creating an SMB share between my main Win 10 machine as it worked perfectly in the beginning, and after some update it just stopped working. I triple checked everything on my machine and my gf's laptop - SMB was installed, permissions were granted etc. but she just could not connect to my share anymore. For now I resorted to an FTP - but it just doesn't cut it. That is why I would like to ask if there is maybe a better, more stable way of sharing files from a Linux server to Windows machines? (especially since 1809 update win 10 automatically deletes SMB 1.0 after 15 days if it's not used) I just want it to work. What do you propose, are there any alternatives? Thanks in advance
  19. Hello Everyone, I am planning on reusing my old PC (i7-3770 + 16GB RAM) for a linux server, that is supposed to work as a plex server and a file server. However for some redundancy, I wanted to have the drives in this type of a "raid" that unraid offers - where you can add different capacity drives and it still manages to survive a drive failure. I have 2x 1TB, 1x 2TB and 1x 3TB drives and I'm planning to add another 3 TB one soon. Do you know of any way to make it work as I want it to, or do I have to buy UnRaid for that? Thanks in advance
  20. But as far as I understand, in this usecase even a different Xeon wouldn't work, right? So it's not about Intel vs AMD anymore, but about a very specific product.
  21. Well, after all Mac Pro is not really consumer/home focused product That is why I was discussing it in the first place. Knowing all the things you guys wrote, the next question should be - would it make a difference to Mac users (assuming there is a Threadripper Mac Pro)? Would it affect them, or are these solutions something that's for a completely different scope of users?
  22. But doesn't that mean that there might exist applications utilizing those instructions and in turn requiring you to use Intel? How does AMD deal with the lack of those? Does the difference result only in performance loss?
  23. Hi Guys, I got in a bit of a discussion with my friend regarding the new Mac Pro, based on an article showing that the low end configurations are bad-value. One of the differences regarding a set-up that this site used to show this difference - was a use of a Threadripper CPU. Because of that, my friend said that it is not fair as there are technical differences in how these CPUs work. Now, I know that is true. These CPUs do operate a bit differently from each other. What I don't know and what I can't find on the web is - are there any real-world workflows that require you to use an Intel CPU? Basically - can you say AMD = Intel in terms of possibilities, or are there specific workflows for which you simply can't use an AMD CPU? Thanks in advance for any replies.
  24. FINAL UPDATE: It turned out to be a hardware issue and I had to replace the laptop. In the new one the problem does not occur.
