InputLag got a reaction from Igni5 in This Just Saved me $100,000 - Total Phase Cable Tester V2
I think whenever you get a new product that comes with cables you should run the included cables through the test.

InputLag reacted to adarw in Why does this GPU?
no, everything passes throught the cpu, it would have to first go to the cpu then the cpu would tell the gpu to do calculations, it would take more pcie lanes from the gpu itself.

InputLag reacted to Gung Pow Chicken in Looking for a good laptop in the sub $1k range for doing basic tasks exceptionally well
Out of those 2 I would go for the HP just because it has 16GB RAM, providing a little more longevity.
Lost of good Lenovo laptops around that price point.

The Ryzen CPU in this one is way better than either of the machines you listed, and probably better than anything else in it's price point.

InputLag reacted to Kilrah in What are the odds of a good DP 1.4 to HDMI adapter coming out? (RTX hugbox thread)
Club3d usually make pretty much the best adapters that support most of the features, so if they can't do it it's unlikely that'll come anytime soon.

Have a look at the pinned topic:

I've preselected the correct output/input already. There's some technical discussions and also Amazon links.

InputLag reacted to Moonzy in Weird idle GPU Power on different refresh rate
Derailing but obscure =/= not interesting
IDK anyone that would watch this
You can bring this up to hardware unboxed or gamernexus, they're more on the testing side and not focused on entertainment

InputLag got a reaction from Moonzy in Weird idle GPU Power on different refresh rate
They've stopped responding to me altogether. These crooks. Just downclock the freaking card!!
One thing I noticed and this used to not work but killing G-sync and setting all monitors to 60hz regardless of resolution remedies the issue.

Which is why I went to ultra wide single monitors. Enjoy it more, less hassle and no bezels

InputLag reacted to miagisan in What they don't tell you about high refresh rate monitors
Yeah but this goes back generations of cards. For nvidia I think it started with the 9xx or 10xx series. I know it existed on the amd side back in the 2xx series. Nothing you can do about it.
-
InputLag reacted to miagisan in What they don't tell you about high refresh rate monitors
This has been an issue with nvidia and amd since forever. Their drivers don't like mixed resolution monitors, nvidia is a little worse off. Both my old r9 290x (kept vram running at full tilt) and my 1660ti (kept clock speed and vram high) had issues with mixed resolutions. .

I updated in another thread about a similar issue. I'm so pissed at nvidia. This experience has been such a letdown. It's normal that my computer room needs to heat up, have my case heat up even though through Inspector's power saver the gpu is more than capable of driving the 3 monitors as I'd like them? Dear Nvidia, you're failing hard here, fix your firmware.

InputLag got a reaction from Moonzy in Weird idle GPU Power on different refresh rate
Look at this absolute insult of a response. This man did not even mention the logical failing of an external program being able to limit and drive the monitors just fine. I have never had less fun upgrading and I've never felt so stonewalled by a support line before in my life.
-
InputLag got a reaction from Moonzy in Weird idle GPU Power on different refresh rate
I'm reporting back, it did nothing. I rma'd the card. Replacement did nothing. NVIDIA is trying to stonewall me and tell me it's normal. It's inexcusable if you ask me. The fact that I can use an external application to downclock and have everything work fine is proof such high clocks are unnecessary. The issue is definitely on them. The way this happens automatically is messed up.

InputLag reacted to Helly in What they don't tell you about high refresh rate monitors
I'm running 3 monitors here on a vega64. 1 4K60hz, 1 4k120hz and 1 1080p60hz. I haven't noticed any changes in noise or temps since adding the 120hz (its an LG gn950, vega64 cant run it at 144 ).
Never even thought about this being a thing. Makes me wonder if its an nvidia thing though....

InputLag reacted to Grabhanem in What they don't tell you about high refresh rate monitors
Have you confirmed that the higher GPU clocks are actually causing higher power consumption or thermals? You're only using 40W total board power before any tweaks, which sounds pretty reasonable for a large GPU at idle.

InputLag reacted to Moonzy in Need help from "G-sync Compatible" monitor owner(s)
ah i gave it a read, this would not solve my issue as my monitors needs to fully shut down (not just enter sleep/idle) to toggle from normal to freesync mode, even though it should've just stayed at freesync mode.
i also had a display whose backlight isnt going off even though it's "sleeping", just displayed a blank screen, but acer took that monitor back so it's not my problem anymore

InputLag reacted to Lord Bloobus in Need help from "G-sync Compatible" monitor owner(s)
1. Yes, it flickers at times but mostly when I change screen focus in fullscreen borderless or am dualboxing in games across screens, it used to flicker in single fullscreen, but this was 99% fixed with a monitor firmware update. No comment on freesync.
2. My windows usually remain fixed unless a resolution change occurs, sometimes they shift which I think happens because the input temporarily disables in windows when switching between On/Off G-Sync.

InputLag got a reaction from Moonzy in Need help from "G-sync Compatible" monitor owner(s)
Someone came up with the solution. The hardware and/or software is perfectly capable of doing exactly what I want but it just isn't set up for it. So I made a bunch of shortcuts and set up hotkeys. That pretty much solves it for me.

You should see if your monitors have software, maybe this is also a thing for you.
