  1. For the rads at least I always do a vinegar bath (leave filled for 30 minutes minimum), rinse with a baking soda solution (to neutralize any remaining vinegar), and then a final water rinse.
  2. Just to clarify, i'm not looking to purchase a card, i'm just curious what peoples thoughts are on the comparison. I also agree with the statement about new GPU prices being to high.
  3. With the new Nvidia 'Super' cards releasing I have seen a lot of comparisons between the 4070Ti Super and the 7900 XT, however UK pricing has the 7900 XTX within the same price threshold in the opposite direction of the 4070ti Super. By which I mean the XT is roughly £75 cheaper than the 4070Ti Super, and thus can alternatively be said that the 4070Ti Super is £75 more expensive, meanwhile the XTX is £75 more expensive than the 4070ti Super, and thus can alternatively be said that the 4070ti Super is £75 cheaper than the XTX. So, what are peoples opinions on the comparison between the 4070ti Super and the XTX ? Baring in mind the next card from the Nvidia side is a £200+ jump for a 4080/4080S, which itself trades blows with the significantly cheaper XTX in traditional rasterized games.
  4. Well if they influence the games developed from this point on, and/or those currently running, in anyway like they do with their movies..... well, you can expect things to crash and burn as it all goes horribly woke. Though to be fair, there has been some relatively recent signs that they now realize 'that' direction leads to nothing but disaster.
  5. Modern day TV's in general I wouldn't count on lasting 10 years without issues. With LCD's the backlights would likely fail in that time. With OLEDs, i'd more expect a power supply or main board issue to crop up at some point. As for burn in, depends on how much use it gets. If its only on an hour a day, varied content. The no. If its on 8 hours a day, with the same channels, logos ,, news anchor positions etc. then yes it will develop uniformity issues and out right burn in of static logos. 'burn in' on OLEDs is cumulative. If we are talking closer to 8 hours a day on average, thats almost 30,000 hours for 10 years of use. If even a quarter of those hours include the same static elements, it WILL get burn in. Rtings.com has done, and is doing another torture test on displays. The OLED specific tests show what it takes to cause uniformity issues. Worst case scenario content iirc was ~ 3000 hours before it becomes noticeable. The difference between worst case scenario and best case content however, is extreme. We're talking the difference between catastrophic burn in at 14,000 hours (you would have replaced it long before getting to 14,000 hours), and barely visible uniformity issue even on solid color slides. So again, it really does depend on the type and variation of content displayed, and the cumulative total of said content.
  6. Even there however you have big problems. Some would consider BDSM and similar 'fetishes' unsafe. Some unfortunate people believe certain drawn and/or 3d modeled pornographic content, to be 'unsafe'. It brings into question 1st of all what is the definition being used, and secondly, who should be considered capable of determining that. Do we really want to level such responsibility to those who assign the qualities of sentient life to inanimate objects and 'art' ? Do we accept the arguable notion that certain drawn or otherwise 3d modeled 'depictions' of certain pornographic scenarios as harmful ,and promote such acts in real life, whilst at the same time accepting/condoning that drawn, 3d modeled, and even real life acted examples of other things such as violence and extreme violence is not harmful and promoting such acts ? Why are slasher films acted out by real people and made to look real, even based on real events considered fine, but certain drawn pornographic content is considered harmful ? It was once argued that violent video games caused harm in real life, that was eventual squashed with scientific studies. As far as im concerned you can have it one way or the other ..but not both. I dont care which side you choose.. ban both ..or dont ban ether.. but u cant be hypocritical. Theres a whole rabbit hole of issues. I do like you 'wish' it could be as simple as "keep the safe stuff" ..alas ..its not simple .><
  7. The last thing u want is porn sites treated like social media sites. Social Media sites are already rampant with more illegal content than ull ever see on a pornsite. Even the stories from the mainstream media about the likes of pornhub having illegal content is blown WAAAAAY out of proportion, I have never talked to any1 in real life who has seen it nor have I seen such content myself there EVER. If it was so prevalent i would have met som1 by now who had seen it. As for the Ai argument. I actually spent some time looking into how one would use AI programs to created pritty much anything. I think the media 'hype' around Ai is overstating the accessibility of it. Its ALOT harder to get into with every easy to use AI service or program being a paid for service. many of which are hidden amongst a plethora of dodgy or outright scam sites. Those that are available are not exactly 'easy' to use or setup infact most require some knowledge of programing to get running (more so concerning those that deal with faces and human/animal recreation.) Face swappers and deepfakes are not easy to make, at least for free. So worrying about a massive influx of shoddy AI content, or outright illegal AI content (which is a discussion in and of itself) i dont think is something to be to worried about yet. Correct me if im wrong but i know of no readily available, 100% free, easy to use Ai service or program that can handle Human / animal recreation. E.G Deepfakes. A simple google search certainly doesnt help. So worrying about AI from that sense and in regards to the OP about pornsites being governed like social media, i think is an overstep. its not necessary. Now for other types of AI creation, landscapes, inanimate object creation , in relation to art or otherwise. I dont see an issue tbh. Thres no moral issues at play unlike with face swapper and deepfakes. And the legal argument amount to "but mah money ! " which frankly i couldnt care less about , its just people bitching that more people are gaining access to an area of creation that was/is currently held by a smaller group pf people. Besides that content isnt exactly found on pornsites so isnt relevant to the OP
  8. <moderated content removed> I think the conflict here is due to miss-communication caused by incorrect use of terminology in regards to displays. When one talks about size of a display as a broad generalization, it refers to 16:9 displays only. When this is not the case, size AND ratio are used together to specify difference. Monitors have many different aspect ratios currently available all of which have different sizes, and while there may be a specific size of monitor that only comes in 1 specific aspect ratio that is not 16:9, it is not a piece of knowledge that people have memorized. So even then it is necessary to specify both size AND aspect ratio. So while what is quoted above is technically accurate with those 2 displays having a close size of 49" and 50", It is rarely ever an issue in common conversations as one would specifically stated when conversing that one is a 49" Monitor that is 32:9, vs a TV that is 50" and 16:9, you would state both size and aspect ratio. As such the completely different 'real world' dimension wouldn't be any cause for miss-understanding as it would go without saying due to the 2 stated specs ..size and aspect ratio. Hope this helps clear things up.
  9. Yes but we're talking about using a Monitor as a TV ..not a TV as a monitor
  10. You can use a Monitor as a TV but do note that TVs almost always tend to come with some amount of processing to help improve the quality of content being displayed. From reducing judder to up-scaling. There is a bunch of processing done on mid range and higher displays that really helps content look better. Lower end TVs can have rather poor quality processing, but its still there. Monitors dont have this, so you will be seeing the raw image. No processing for a monitor for PC use is good, you want that, both for content creation so your seeing the raw image and for low input latency for gaming. if your ok with this, then yes for sure you can use a monitor as a TV.
  11. Well if anything, atleast it will encourage devs to move to a better Engine, resulting in 'hopefully' better games. The obvious example being Unreal Engine, with its latest versions opening up the possibility to very good looking and performing games. We all know how slow game devs are to move to a superior Engine due to associated costs. They'll milk an old engine for as long as possible even if any given game could look, play, and perform better on a different engine. ofc it could also encourage them to a worse engine ... but lets be optimistic
  12. yes ..well.... name not withstanding ..its a good custom version. I run the W10 edition myself. Strips out all the bloat ..telemetry etc, speeds things up, especially boot times. Comes with a 'toolbox' program to enable/disable some things if needed, install general drivers on fresh install as well as some software. Worth a look.
  13. 'looks' great ..but does it 'run' great. Personally i'd just get Ghost Specter 11 if i wanted to move to W11 :P
  14. This be why I recommend using custom modified versions of Windows, with all the 'crap' stripped out. Either use one that's has a proven and trusted track record, or modify it yourself. I use Ghost Spectre myself, W10, and have had no issues.
  15. You could try a custom version. I use Ghost Spectre myself, YMMV ofc.
  16. A new 6700XT Or a used 6600XT since they 'should' be around 38% below MSRP (~$170) which is alot better price for a used card than most of the other cards of the generation from both AMD and Nvidia.
  17. err ....riiight lets agree to disagree shall we
  18. I seem to recall Mr Musk stating he considers, and wants, 'X' to be a public square. Hence my standpoint.
  19. I've never used old twitter/or current 'X', so im not sure if this is 100% correct but.. If one cant block someone anymore that would mean u can no longer stop them from seeing your content right ...so thats a good thing. I've seen far to many example of certain types of individuals blocking others in an attempt to stop journalistic investigation. The whole " i dont like what this outlet/person is saying about what i've said or done so im going to make it difficult for them to see said actions" The ability to mute a person, so you cant see their 'oh so hurtful' comments is understandable, which is staying right. If u can not see what they're saying ..thats no different than blocking them ...so all u really want with the ability to block them, is to hide your interactions from them ...which begs the question ...what and why are u hiding it from them ? I cant see how this is a big deal if im understanding the way the features of 'X' work. Blocking and muting results in the same thing from the 'blockers' perspective. it only changes the other persons (those who would have been blocked) abilities. E.G going from not being able to see posts ..to being able to see them and interact with other people, who in turn can 'mute' said person if they dont want to see their comments. Frankly this seems similar to the whole.. " I not only dont want to hear you talk ..i dont want u able to talk aswell" One is acceptable, fingers in ears ..walk away ..turn of the TV/radio whatever.., The other is not, ur removing a persons right to speak, to have an opinion etc due to ur personal opinion, perhaps only ur opinion ..or only a small group of peoples opinion. In this instance a person like this is saying "im going to say/do something in this digital public square (not in DMs) ..oh but you there i dont lke you, i dont want to hear ur opinion ..infact i dont want you to have the ability to have one either..u cant be here ..in this public digital square". So yea, assuming i understand how this all works ...I dont see this as a problem with this change.
  20. Sounds good to me. An costly option that previously required hardware to be installed before working is now there by default and just requires a little time for a hacker to create a software 'fix' to get it for free. Win
  21. From a gaming perspective the 5800X3D is easily superior, less so for productivity. So depends on which is more important for you Fair enough. Ofc your not going to get as good a deal with a Nvidia GPU from a gaming performance standpoint. If your one to upgrade every year or so then ofc getting something that is on a platform with some life left in it would be a smarter idea. However, if ur one to upgrade say every 4 years or so, i wouldn't worry about it. Chances are what ever platform you go with will be to outdated to be able to drop in an upgrade (like CPU) in 4+ years time.
  22. If u can stretch another $75 this will blow the pants of those builds for gaming atleast. 23. Money changes everyone. be it a loss of it, or gaining a lot. Anyone whom has gone through the gain or loss of wealth to such a degree and then says otherwise, is lying. Anyone who hasn't gone through such an event and say otherwise, is naive. From my perspective, i've seen an increase in content that includes obscenely expensive products/setups, owing to the fact he can afford it now. its somewhat out of touch of the original viewership, but can still be entertaining to some degree none the less. And as others have pointed out, having a stance on a subject and responding as a (or from the perspective of) business owner is more than a tad different than responding as an average joe consumer.
  24. Well id say something along the lines of the following. The above system would be suitable for a CPU upgrade in the future to something like a 13700K. or go the AMD route which could upgrade to a 5800X3D with DDR4. The intel route will have worse performance to begin with in games that use alot of threads, but stronger with games that use less threads. Meanwhile the AMD will start of weaker in lower thread count games and stronger in higher thread count games. Both are equally strong in gaming when upgraded to their best performing CPU, the 5800X3D for the AMD build and u can go as high as a 13900K on the Intel one. Ofc the 13900k is alot more expensive (about double) vs the 5800X3D.

    Burn in risk

Change this habit, or at the very least enable a screen saver / enable sleep timer for display and ensure it works. Or just , you know ..press the power button the screen (so exhausting i know ) You'll also want to get yourself an animated desktop and/or have rotating backgrounds, hide all desktop icons or add opacity to them, and enable autohide taskbar. Any games that have UI opacity options should be enabled, thsoe which dont but allows mods, get those mods. Those games that have neither, just be mindful of the amount of hours ur putting those static elements on the screen as pixel degradation is cumulative. Basically u have to be willing to change some of ur habitual usage if u want OLED, its not abnormal, back with CRT and Plasma it was a given. The problem is we have had about 2 decades of LCD tech and thus a whole generation of people who have known only LCD, so they dont have these 'habits' in place. This may all sound rather bad, but its less of an issue with the newer OLED models, it is however still best practice to reduce the risks even further.
