I think I'll get a new power supply because I can see that this one was repaired. It works fine but I wouldn't bet on reliability. I'll probably get an rm750x from corsair.

Thanks guys! I never had much confidence in myself when it came to PC building (my friend did most of the work for my current build) but I want to gain the confidence to do it myself. This helps so much!

Yep, this cable will work. You'll want to use a 6+2 and a 6 (without the 2). Good luck with the upgrade!

Ah ha, so it is Sata power from the MOBO.
You should be able to use the sata power from your PSU instead and unplug those cables from teh motherboard.  Unless there is some weird Dell Proprietary requirement to have them plugged in.

Edit - power from the motherboard not CPU.

    Well, a deal came up...
    I bought a Gigabyte GTX 970 4gb for €90 ($100).
I also ordered a Moddiy 24-pin to 8-pin converter. The only thing left is a power supply.
    Some pictures of the 970:

Sprayed etching primer and a base coat of black. Will need some wet and dry sanding and then another coat of black.

I love those Lian Li O11 cases! Ordered an optiplex 9020 that should arrive later this week, might be a cool project to put the optiplex internals in a Lian Li

Believe me, you don't want to put windows on a mac  Macbooks are fast because MacOS is super light.
I personally suggest a Macbook Air (2016+ model), they already come equipped with an ssd and they are pretty much bulletproof. I've been using mine for several years now, never had a single problem.

When would you ever need to replace a macbook's ssd? They are pretty much bulletproof. I honestly don't think there are many windows-based laptops that can last longer than a Macbook.

Hey there, I'm not sure if it would work, but some phones have sleep monitoring (I know iPhones do). Of course I don't know what phone you have but chances are it has such a thing. It monitors when you're sleeping, deep sleep, etc. No idea how it works, but it seems to be pretty accurate to me.

That's great! I'd check out the B450 Tomahawk Max motherboard and maybe a different ssd. Otherwise, it's something I'd build too!

lightfire got a reaction from Viltaria in My First PC Build: Advice Needed
    Hey there!
You probably don't need an X570 motherboard. If I were you, I'd check out the msi B450 Tomahawk Max. The only big difference between X570 and B450 is PCI-E gen 4, which you won't be using with a 5700XT.
It also lowers your price of the motherboard, so you can invest it somewhere else
You can also consider getting a cheaper SSD (adata sx8200 pro, corsair MP500, intel 660p), Samsung makes good ssd'ss but they also charge for the brand name

What is the ram speed? Ryzen loves fast memory, 3200MHz or even 3600MHz is what I would recommend!
Looks solid though, all parts will be compatible, good luck!

A ryzen 5 2600 will perform better in gaming because you can get a 1660 super instead of a 1650 super  Using a 2700X together with a 1650 super will just result in your gpu not being able to keep up.

    Awesome!

I will try and do what i can (if i go ahead with the build) about the airflow, im not that afraid to mod a case as long as im careful, so im sure it will be alright.
Also yeah i was checking out that exact RAM, what a cooincidence .

Thanks for all your advice! it rly helped

So I built this pc back in November and I had a few issues with it . Some of the fans came dead out of the box so I had to send them back . I struggled for about 2 monts to get my components replaced but they finally came . I also added some cable extensions to finish the look . Next thing for me would be to get a nicer desk . I'll probably be going for a corner one

I think what you are looking for is new storage. You didn't mention it so I'm guessing you run off of an old HDD?
If you get a new SSD, like the 860 Evo, you'll have a way snappier feeling system. Then you can spend the rest of your budget on a more potent GPU, like a RX5500 or GTX1650S.
Your CPU is not good but also not terrible.

Ah yea I see, that's why I opted for the double intake fans at the front, to keep the pressure up. I'll have a look at AiO's for future cooling options, but I'd rather stay with the stock one for now. It's my first computer build, so I wanna take it 1 step at a time.  Thank you for the feedback though!
