JoshQM reacted to Nayr438 in Hey, i need help with installing arch linux
Last I knew, Anarchy setup third party repos. I personally don't recommend the use of third party installers, and if you mention it to the Arch Community you may not get any support.
Part of running Arch is knowing what is installed on your system and how it's configured. I recommend following the official Installation Guide, https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Installation_guide

You can however refer to here for Arch Based Distros / Installers. Just keep in mind the warning at the top of the page.
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch-based_distributions

If you need something simple to setup, Manjaro does a fairly decent job of pre-configuring a Arch based Environment and has community support.

Using a free VPN is worse than not using a VPN at all. Most of the time when a product is "free", you are the product. Companies gotta make money somehow and your data is the best way of making that money.

One could still leak e.g. the login-credentials database, so yes, there is always something to leak.

Mullvad is an option. They don't require any personal information (not even an email address) and you can pay for it with anonymous payment methods such as Bitcoin.

So when you lock eyes with that person at the mall or on the train, and you just have one of those "I've never seen you before in my life, but let's get married" moments, you can just sneak a pic of them and find out who they are, where they live, and what they like. Then you can set up some romantic date, and either message them or just drive to their house, pick them up and swoon them off their feet. Next thing ya know, you're signing your 3rd child support check for the month with the cockroaches have a luau in your bathtub.

Go there and download the media creation tool to a USB drive. Do a full clean install by "deleting" the partitions on the drives and re-allocating the space to install windows on when prompted.

Once installed, navigate to the "Windows Update" settings in windows, as there's almost always new updates to install even if you just downloaded the media creation tool 10 minutes ago.

Make sure after the updates are done, you restart your computer. Try to update once more, but if it says "You're up to date" with a green circle and a checkmark, go ahead and check your task manager.

Do not install any third party software before continuing.

The tracking isnt the issue. Quality of the updates are. Every creators update its always fun to read all the issues people are having. If your on older hardware, go fuck your self becuase your at Microsofts mercy and their piss poor quality. Windows 10 never ran on my Ivy Bridge setup right, it had bugs galore. When 1903 refused to work with the intergrated NIC I said fuck this. But the fact is a Ivy Bridge setup is still a valid setup even in 2020, It could do all the games I wanted to play and then some. It was just starting to seem a bit slow, but still very usable. Now my Ivy Bridge setup has Linux on it and does transcoding for Plex and does a great job of it. Guess what? The Intergrated NIC works just fine in Linux...... Something Windows 10 couldnt seem to accomplish.

JoshQM reacted to dbx10 in About the Vincero sponsor spot in Techlinked...
I'm not trying to stop LTT from making a buck, and if Vincero is your thing, good for you. Hence, I disclaim that everything below is my opinion, based on educated guesses and factual information. Best of all, it's free to read and even free-er to ignore. Use at will.

    That being said:
You can buy some of their watches without the branding, bulk from Alibaba for less than half the price; For the price of a Vincero you can snag a Hamilton, Seiko, Orient, Citizen, Timex, Invicta, either quartz or automatic; Vincero watches are made from cheaper materials than similarly priced offerings from other companies mentioned above, and don't feel nearly as solid or durable;  Despite Vincero advertising their products as luxury, their watches scratch easily, lack in quality and do not feel anywhere near a cheaper, entry-level Seiko 5.
The takeaway here I guess is that much like Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Guess, Tommy Hilfiger, and others, Vincero is putting a brand on a $30 watch and marking it up as "luxury". IMO, you don't get luxury under a thousand bucks when it comes to wristwatches. Not new, anyway. And in the case of Vincero, the sad part is not only do you not get luxury, you don't even get what you should for the price. Hell, I bought my dad an automatic dive watch from Invicta. The one with a Seiko NH-35A movement... For under a hundred CANADIAN PESOS. A very nice watch for the price, and with a Seiko automatic movement, absolutely dependable.

My last argument is: So close, yet so far...
So close to a truly nice watch you'll WANT to wear, meaning in some cases you're $50 away from buying a Seiko SKX... a hundred away from a nice Orient dress watch or a Citizen eco-drive... At that point it's just not worth spending that much for a bloody Vincero. Just save for another two weeks, until the next pay check, or the next time your wife lets your wallet and your testicles out of her purse for a walk. You'll thank yourself.

Below I have screenshotted 30 seconds worth of shopping on Amazon. I have tried most of these watches, they are worth much more than asking price in my estimation.

This smug looking italian man explains exerything I just said about Daniel Wellington, another "fashion brand" to avoid, but in a british accent. Meaning of course it is much more credible.

I switched to Linux when Windows 10 first came out as I didn't like the lack of privacy in 10. Check out Linux Mint. It's designed to be pretty friendly to uses coming from a Windows environment; it's what I've switched to.

What it is is a miracle.   I've been using the stuff for over 20 years to remove leftover adhesive from labels, and have found it also works well to remove thermal paste as long as alcohol is used afterward to clean off the bit of film left behind.
