Yeah, right now because the only thing in it is the processor, i'm going to keep the psu for normal use. But i'm going to try and find something better before replacing my card.

I'm surprised too, under load it shouldn't have drawn over 400w. So I dont know why my 500w power supply would have been so stressed. Though i suppose they do degrade, but its hard to imagine it degrading that much.

I mean, I knew the dangers. But marketing did play a less knowledgeable me back when I first built my computer

Yeah. I thought I would be able to get away with it. But after my card died now i'm worried about the rest of my computer.

I do understand the risk, but i have to say its quite disappointing if my power supply choice is what killed the card.

Yeah i figured the card is a good as dead, unless I can put it in the oven and fix it. Once I take out the gpu, then everything else works fine, should I still worry that my power supply failed?

I tested it out in a separate computer, same issue. Wouldn't turn on, took my 1070 out, put the 1650 that was in it back in, and the computer worked perfectly.

Well, ive used the computer for months fine. I just tested my card in my sisters computer, same thing. Wouldn't boot

Yesterday, while I was browsing on my computer, suddenly the cpu or gpu fans, i couldn't tell, ramped up to full speed. Shortly afterwards I lost picture and my screen went black, I pressed the resetbutton which shut it down, but It did not turn back on afterwards. I figured out if I remove my graphics card, then everything works fine. Is my gpu dead, and is there anything I can do to fix this? I know that putting the card in an oven to re-solder it, but what should I try first? Specs are as follow: i7-4770 32gb 1600mhz gtx 1070 thermaltake smart 500w

Sorry i never got back to you. I ended up just buying a new motherboard, i had planned to buy all the adapters but i found to do that would cost me as much as purchasing a new mobo that will have more features.

I knew about the front panel connectors, but dang. I've tried to find an adapter but I have had no luck. I was trying to save the 120 or so dollars not buying a new mobo, but i think i might have to.

I have a Dell 7020 which I am planning to gut, so I can save money as I move to bigger case. I have other things sorted out, but my question is will a standard 4 pin connector work with the motherboard as a cpu power cable? Or has Dell switched the wiring so you are unable to do so?

The cpu was taken out for another pc, its had a i7 4770 in it before. It has intel q87 express chipset. And it has a dell optiplex 7020 motherboard.

I have an old computer lying around and i want to give it to my younger sister, she doesn't need anything that is good. So what is the cheapest cpu that i can put in a 1150 socket, i do not need integrated graphics i have an old graphics card that i can use for it. Thanks.

How does not meeting amp requirements for a graphics card affect it, i have a 240w pcu, can i run a sapphire hd 7850 with it?
