  12. for gaming more hertz = faster you are able to react so the best would be a 1080p 240hz monitor. If he plays games like: CSGO,rainbow siege, League of Legends or any low demanding games for that matter, the 240hz monitor would help him alot ( you need 240fps for 240hertz ) If he plays more demanding games a 144hz would work fine. (due to it being very hard to pull 240fps) (I myself am a person who plays on the lowest settings on all games just to get the highest fps possible,i don't care about the graphics as long as i can perform at my max level it's fine)
