  1. And no problem in the long run if I do it a couple times a month? If so, then problem solved!! PCIe 3.0 x4 will surely be enough for my purposes. Thanks!!
  2. Sorry if I wrote it weird. The GTX1060 would still be in the x16 slot. The rx550 would stay in the inferior one. That being said, the 550 has max 112gb/s speed (almost 50% then) so can I assume around 40% at least? So, if that were true, no problem on my end. Just consider, I don't need all that power. That being said, without unplugging it, there is no safe way of deactivating PCIe 1 slot right (from bios or something)? Cause that would give me x4 in the slot. I will never need to use the RX550 at the same time as the other slots. If not, I'll just swap the 2 cards every time, but that's 10min ~5 times a month...
  3. I've seen this comparison, yet I read differences get bigger in worse GPU's with less VRAM. So that's my main concern. I can't get anything that requires external power as my PSU won't be suitable and something like a rx580 or beyond is quite expensive for what I plan.
  4. Mainly, Nvidia cards have weird bugs with games from the directx 9 era and before. (Early 2000/ lete 90s stuff). Some can be fixed, some not. I know there is usually no problem with AMD (from tests in my mother's PC and its Athlon 200ge iGPU) but I can't use that PC as much as I want. Take as a reference that all those games can run (with the same Nvidia bugs) in a Pentium D + 9400gt, so the bar is pretty low, no big requirements.
  5. How much would I be loosing? Just consider that the gtx 1060 will always be there for the heavy stuff. So if it gives me 50% of its power it would be OK. I need it for compatibility issues in really old stuff. For reference, all of those games run on a 9400 gt paired with a pentium D i have, but have weird bugs (missing text, bad menus) in Nvidia cards due to drivers.
  6. So here is the thing. I've got a MB with the following PCIe (image) PCIe 1 and 2 are occupied. I want to put a second GPU in the 5th slot which would give me PCIe 3.0 x2. That card would be a RX 550 (2 or 4gb, don't know yet, I would prefer 2gb), the one that's already in is a gtx1060. Considering I would be using one OR the other, never both at the same time, would the performance be that bad for the rx 550? (Considering the rx 550 normal performance as reference). I need it for compatibility problems and stuff, not demanding stuff, some simple 90s/early 2000s games on Windows 7. Thanks!!
  7. I have a PC that supports Win7 and has had a Win 10 instalation for 4 years. I have 2 Sata SSD and an HDD all with loads of data. My plan is to buy a new drive and make a dual booting with Win7 and the Win10 I already have. Question is: can I use an M2 SSD for Win7 (there is room for it in my MotherBoard) and program the dual boot with a sataSSD (which has Win10) and said new m2 drive? Can I do it without altering (loosing data/having to reinstall all) my Win10 part? The final idea is to have a system with my i7 6700 and its HD 530 iGPU + the GTX 1060 I have installed and a new RX 550 so I have 2 OS, 3 graphic cards and I don't need 3 different PCs just to play all the games I have (Nvidia is too bad for old games and so is Windows 10, sometimes there is no workaround). Thanks!!
  8. Just removing the GPU could be enough to get mean 50 or so FPS in CSGO in low-mid (some dips though). I have one PC with a 200ge and 2x4gb and can hit 70fps mean on CSGO in low-mid setting (Dual Channel has great impact, but the 3000g is just a better 200ge)
  9. I usually go with Twice a year + any time I make updates or take something out. It all deppends on your system. Mine has 2 fans blowing air (and dust) inside + an open space above where dust could enter (I could place more fans there but It's cool enough right now. One thing you may have to take into consideration is looking for the case manual to see if there is some filter you could clean. I didn't know until some months ago that the filter was that easy to remove and clean (and there were 28 months of dust stuck in it) Cleaning the PC is just a choice btw. I've had one at home that could do with no cleaning in 5 years
  10. Don't worry, I got it, updated to last bios version, settings, memory 2400mhz and it works now
  11. Hi, new here!! Ok, the problem is pretty weird. I'm building a new PC with a MSI a320m-a pro max, an AMD 200ge and the RAM KVR24N17S6/4 from Kingston (2x4gb) Thing is the PC won't start with that Ram. No screen, no power)hhd led, nothing. I've got some old HyperX sticks from my older yet better PC. They are 8gb 2133mhz ddr4. If I use them the new PC, the PC works. If I use the new ram in the old PC, the old PC works too (has a MSI h170A PC mate with an i7 6700) why doesn't the new ram work in the new PC? Any idea? I'm trying to update the bios see ig it fixes it. Thanks!!
