  1. Hey, I am looking to build a relatively low key media computer for streaming shows and playing some older couch coop games. I have never built in a mini atx form factor and I have worries about accidentally getting a needlessly cramped case. Are there any cases that are easier to work in that are still pretty compact? I am also wanting to avoid any needless rgb on the case since I dont want the light interfering with movies etc. Not sure if it matters in terms of air flow, but the processor I will be using is a ryzen 7 2700 (not x) that I picked up a while ago. I am not sure yet what budget I am aiming for, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
  2. Thanks for the information! Dust is definitely a concern, so the tip on positive pressure will help.
  3. Hey I am going to be building in an nzxt H710 mid case. I am going for 2 140mm noctua fans on the front, but 120mm fans for the top and rear. I dont want weird case pressure, should I have 3 120mms to offset the two 140s?
  4. Thank you everyone! I will go over the builds everyone suggested with my friend and see what he thinks. One question, I saw everyone upgraded the processor, is the ryzen 7 2700, just not as good a fit for that video card? I thought processors were less important for gaming.
  5. Thank you for the input! Would a noctua u14s work to cool the processor properly if I wanted to downgrade the cooler?
  6. Oh, almost forgot. I am located in the US. So US pricing please if you have part suggestions.
  7. Hey, first time using the forums. I am helping my best friend build a computer and I want to make sure I am not giving him terrible build info. I have not worked with ryzen before which makes me a bit nervous, especially regarding ram speed since I read it can interact oddly at high speeds. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/aWeakling/saved/#view=3C9V7P His budget is up to 2k, but any bit we can save without losing performance is appreciated. My main concerns are that the CPU cooler is overkill (and clear ance) and I am not sure if the noctua u14s would be plenty (or even u12s). We may try some light overclocking, but we are hardly going to push it to the cusp. He will mainly be using the comp for current big box games or modded games (borderlands 3, heavily modded civ 6 and skyrim) and would like to be able to play any upcoming games at max settings without issue. Last I heard he is aiming to do 2 high refresh monitors (1080p to start), and when they become more affordable aiming to go to higher resolutions (while maintaining high refresh) whenever possible. Aesthetics are not super high priority, but he seemed to really like the black and white aesthetic (and the white ram). Also, I am hoping to find a 2080 super in place of the 2080 if I can find a good price. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if I'm rambling...
