  1. I do realize the lack of thread use in current games, but I figured as time rolls on the more games will use as well as possible editing software and multitasking use. Plus with the 8700K chip, it is 300 series MB... which my 6600k is not... so I would need a MB to go with that as well.
  2. I currently have: Intel 6600k, 16gb ram, 1080 ti GPU, 2tb M.2 with a Valve Index on the way. I am thinking of building another rig with perhaps an AMD CPU. I was wanting to future proof a little bit and was leaning towards a AMD RYZEN 9 3900X 12-Core 3.8 GHz, however I am not that much of a "techie" and would love some suggestions for a MB and ram if anyone has some advice. I will probably continue to use the 1080ti for the time being as it does the trick for pretty much all VR titles currently, and its an easier upgrade later on.
  3. THANKYOU! Both KnightSlugger and Jurrunio!
  4. Even though it will still be plugged into the m.2 slot on my MB (as opposed to being in the PCIe slot beside a video card)?
  5. Hello, I am an electrician, but not an electronics guy. So I have this MB, Asus Z170 Pro Gaming LGA 1151; https://www.newegg.ca/p/N82E16813132567?Item=N82E16813132567 Which states under the M.2 section on the specs tab. "1 x M.2 Socket 3 with M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices support (both SATA & PCIE 3.0 x4 mode)* * When the M.2 Socket 3 is operating in SATA mode, SATA port 1 will be disabled." Then I have purchased this M.2 drive, Intel 660p Series M.2 2280 2TB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 3D Nano; https://www.newegg.ca/intel-660p-series-2tb/p/N82E16820167461?Item=N82E16820167461 I purchased this SSD drive as just additional space and have no intention on using it as my boot drive (already have a SSD for that). So my question is this. Will this be a plug and play install, or will it render my SATA port 1 disabled (reference to the highlighted note above) ? My thinking is because it is a PCIe "interface/mode" it will not disable SATA port 1 (also happens to be my boot drive), as it is not a "SATA mode" device. Can someone either confirm or correct me (preferably in layman terms)?
