Does that mean the the light comes from the 3 or 4 pin connector that would go to the sys_fan headers?

LED Fans. So I'm new to building a pc and such and I need to know things about case fans. I see that some RGB fans have specific cables that physically plug into the motherboard to light up. I'm wondering if you need to do that with regular LED fans where they are set to a specific color. Say I wanted a red LED fan for my Black-Red color scheme and I have a motherboard that doesn't have any RGB headers, can I still use those fans? I just wanted to know before I pulled the trigger and bought the red LED Corsair AF120 fans. If anyone can help that would be much appreciated. Thank you <3
