  1. This is what it looks like, as soon as it gets past the BIOS. No loading circle or bar ever appears to begin with, and is just stuck on this screen (I've left it like this for as long as 3 hours and come back to it still looking like this. I have not, any specific distro you recommend, only one I'm familiar with is Ubuntu, would that be fine? CPU: i7-6700K @ 4.4GHz Motherboard: ASUS Z170 S CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken x52 RAM: Crucial 16GB DDR4-2666 GPU: ASUS RX 5700XT ROG Strix Bootdrive: WD Black SN850 M.2 NVMe SSD 1TB SSD: Kingston Savage 240GB HDD: Seagate 3TB 7200RPM PSU: Corsair RMx 750W I had an OC applied at the time of the incident, but have since reset my BIOS to default (after also updating to the latest version), removing the OC and XMP settings. I have some old RAM sticks I could try, nothing else though. I could see worst case if I could go to a friend's and try booting from my m.2, potentially windows just corrupted on there, and I could reformat the drive and try a fresh windows install.
  2. As the title says. Was watching a movie when all of a sudden my PC bluescreened. Initially, it was stuck in a blue screen loop where it said “Just collecting some information”, then would restart, and return to the same screen, going in a loop. After forcefully shutting down a few times, eventually it progressed to its current state. Now when the PC is turned on (after the BIOS screen) you are greeted to a black screen with a windows logo and the text “Preparing Automatic Repair”. The issue here is that it freezes at this screen, and doesn’t actually repair. All of the online tutorials don’t work since they all require to actually boot into windows and fix it from there (but it never actually gets past this automatic repair screen, so nothing can be done). I’ve updated my BIOS to the latest version, as well as tried booting from a Windows Installation Media from a USB drive, but the BIOS update didn’t fix anything, and when I select to boot from the USB, once I then try to boot my display is just black and nothing actually happens. Anyone encountered this before and have a solution, or to offer an idea for a solution? I feel like I’ve tried everything to no avail.
  3. When you say no budget, do you mean it must be as cheap as possible, or that you don't care how much it costs, as long as it can game well at 1080p? Also, do you just need a PC, or do you also need I/O (monitor, keyboard, mouse etc.)?
  4. From LTTStore: So it depends what you ordered. If it is something limited edition or on back-order it could take some time, otherwise contact support.

  6. I would too, if it wasn't for the fact that my backup HDD only has 20GB left, and the SSD only has 10GB left. Ideally, I'd be using an M.2 for boot, and a slower, but still M.2 SDD, for bulk storage in my new system, which is why I wanted to just buy an M.2 now, rather than a SATA SSD. EDIT: I also have a 10% off voucher for the website I buy my parts from, so I'm also saving around $30 (The voucher expires in 7 days, so I'd have to use it now or else it'd just be wasted)
  7. I'll look into it then thanks! (Only problem is that right now the 660p is not in stock and the next "unconfirmed" shipment only arrives in a month where I live - wheras the SN850 is confirmed to arrive in 1 week)
  8. It will be for writing and transfering larger files in the future, and compiling code for larger programs. The difference between the 660p and SN850 for me is also only around $60.
  9. On the specifications page for my motherboard is says this regarding the M.2 slot: "1 x M.2 x4 Socket 3, with M Key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices support (both SATA & PCIE mode)" Does "PCIE mode" here refer to NVME, or would it not be compatable?
  10. I was looking at the 970 EVO, but the WD Black one I linked is PCIE 4.0 (So 7100/5300 MB/s vs 3500/3300 MB/s) and is literally only $0.10 more, so I figured why not, especially if my new PC will support PCIE 4.0 (Planning to go with either a 5900X or wait for Zen 4 and get the 6900X).
  11. Planning on upgrading my PC, but not right now (The reason should be fairly obvious I assume). I need more storage for my PC now though, and so I thought of just getting the SSD that I will be using as my boot drive in my new PC, the WD Black SN850 and putting it in my current system. I just wanted to make sure that this will work with my current system, on a 6th Intel CPU and a Z170 motherboard as it is a PCIE 4.0 SSD, something my 5 year old motherboard doesn't support. Obviously I understand that I won't be getting the speeds advertised, as I'll be using it with PCIE 3.0, but I just want to be sure that I can still use it without any issues.
  12. Thanks so much! Will definetely consider this when I purhcase parts next year
  13. I already said I'm not planning on upgrading until next year - maybe even late 2021 to wait for Zen 4 EDIT: Also, the prices I listed are not high because of shortages or anything. These are the official MSRP prices here in Norway (We're one of the most expensive countries to purchase consumer electronics in)
  14. I don't particularly need Ray-Tracing for anything if that's the question?

Thinking of upgrading late next year (So possibly waiting for Zen 4 and DDR5) from my current system (See my signature). Currently content with 1440p at high refresh rate, but might want to try 4K down the line. Any thoughts, and suggestions/improvements would be greatly appreciated!
  16. Yeah me too, the reason I ask is that I have found sources claiming it will be DDR4, and that DDR5 with only be supported on their new architechture (whatever comes after Zen 4), and others claiming that Zen 4 will be using DDR5. Maybe it's just unknown at this time.
  17. Question is in the title. Planning on building a new PC in the next year or so, and was wondering when Zen 4 is expected to launch (obviously the exact time is unknown, but roughly, given the rumours/leaks when should we expect it), and if it will be using DDR4 or DDR5?
  18. I'm, currently saving up for a new PC, but I'm still saving as I don't currently have enough (and nothing is in stock either). However, I'm running dangerously low on storage, and am thinking of just purchasing the SSD I was planning to use as my boot drive in my new PC now, and save it for when I eventually build my new PC. I just wanted to make sure that the SSD I'm currently looking at buying is compatible with my current system. The SSD I'm looking at is this: https://shop.westerndigital.com/products/internal-drives/wd-black-sn850-nvme-ssd#WDS100T1X0E-00AFY0, the reason I ask is because it is PCIe 4, and I'm on a pretty old system (6th gen i7 and Z170 motherboard). I obviously understand that I will not be getting anywhere near the speeds advertised, as I'll be running it on an old system. My question is will it work, and will I still get high speeds as would be expected from an NVME SSD, or will it not work with my current system? My current motherboard is the Z170 S from ASUS: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH-Z170-S/, and my CPU is the i7-6700K
  19. Maybe on certain websites... I've always used Komplett.no, where it's currently listed at 5,099 NOK ($577.69 at today's exchange rate): https://www.komplett.no/product/1132692/datautstyr/pc-komponenter/hovedkort/amd-socket/gigabyte-x570-aorus-master-socket-am4, which is where I got the $565 figure from.
  20. Here in Norway that's $565 USD ahaha... I'd be spending almost as much on my motherboard as my CPU.
  21. Alright, thanks! I was considering the ASUS ROG Strix X570-E which does seem to have this feature. So then all that would be needed is to download the latest BIOS, insert a USB into the correct port and press the flashback button (and wait for it to complete the update)?
