  1. My system is similar to yours in a lot of ways, including the 2080 Ti, and I highly recommend the Corsair RM850x. It’s 80+ Gold, fully modular which is a godsend for cable management and, even though it’s a bit more power than necessary, it’s nice to have a little bit of wiggle room.
  2. Hey guys. I’ve been watching videos about how to choose a good motherboard and I’ve noticed a lot of times Linus, Jayztwocents, Paul’s Hardware and other Tech YouTubers mention “VRM cooling”. Jay even called VRM cooling a “feature not a gimmick”, and I’m wondering.. What is VRM cooling and what does it do in regards to performance? Also does my motherboard have good VRM cooling? ? Thanks!
  3. Oh yeah I didn’t consider the fact that some people hammer their drives and transfer lots of big files back and forth constantly. I only use my PC for gaming so I guess it’s nice to not have to worry about SSD overheating. Would you happen to know if this board is a lot better than my old motherboard? My old one was an MSI z370-a Pro. ?
  4. Oh wow! Is 47C normal then? I don’t know if it’s just that Samsung makes premium quality products but if mine only goes up to 47C I imagine other ones don’t go much higher so why would someone need an NVMe ssd heatsink anyway? ?
  5. Awesome thanks! Nope I’m not having heat issues. Under fill benchmark load it gets up to about 47C but never goes above 50C. Im not sure if SSDs are as heat tolerant as CPUs and GPUs but 47C doesn’t seem very hot at all.
  6. Oh ok thanks! I actually think the aesthetics even without a heat sink looks pretty good. The drive itself is black and it doesn’t really stand out which is what I want. So would you recommend just leaving it as is and using the heatsink later when I get another NVMe SSD? ?
  7. Hey guys, I recently upgraded my MSI z370-a Pro to an MSI MEG z390 ACE and one of the reasons I upgraded (aside from getting a great deal on Newegg of $219.99 vs MSRP $289.99) is because the MEG ACE has 3x M.2 slots whereas my old mobo only has 1. Im wondering if it matters which one I use? I ask because one of the M.2 slots (the bottom one) has a Frozr heatsink but the heat sink has to be used on the bottom slot. I’m wondering if I can occupy only the bottom slot with an M.2 NVMe drive so I can use the heat sink with it or if I have to start with the top slot if I only have 1 NVMe ssd? Also does the heatsink have any real benefit if my NVMe drive doesn’t overheat anyway?
  8. I got an MSI MEG z390 ACE (because I got a great deal of $239.99 instead of normal $289.99 on a Newegg sale) to upgrade from my old MSI z370-A Pro and I’m wondering if the extra power phases and VRM cooling will help me get better overclocks? ? Or are there any features that the MEG ACE has that the MSI z370-A Pro doesn’t have? If anyone has a MEG ACE or is familiar with it can you please tell me what features and benefits it has over cheaper boards like the Pro I had before?
  9. Ah ok thanks! That’s what I was trying to ask is if going from 1440p 144hz to 4K 60hz is really an upgrade or more like an equal or inferior performing monitor to mine. I also love 1440p 144hz and how smooth it is. I seem to be able to get 144fps with maxed out settings in recent AAA games like the Resident Evil 2 remake and it’s pretty sweet.
  10. Oh ok thanks! Basically I’m just wondering if I need to make sure to recharge it every night or not? Or if it’s a controller that can handle several 2-3 hour gaming sessions before it’s necessary to recharge. Sometimes I forget to charge my controllers after a gaming session and I hate to come back and find them dead and have to play with a wired connection while they charge. But whether it’s 40 hours or 25 hours or even 15-20 hours it seems like you guys are all saying it’s a controller that can be recharged every couple of days rather than needing daily recharges.
  11. Ah ok so 4K 60hz isn’t really worth upgrading? Do you know if my setup could handle 4K 120hz? I have an 8700K & 2080 Ti (both overclocked) which is pretty high end hardware. The only real “upgrade” I could do would be adding another 2080 Ti but that seems kind of ridiculous. Plus they’re so dang expensive.
  12. Yup! It’s also VESA compatible so you can put it on a stand and adjust it if you’re not happy with where it is. Here is what mine looks like in my setup. Keep in mind my desk is tiny. The monitor is 27” but looks huge on my small desk.
  13. Ah ok so you think I should stick with my 1440p 144hz monitor? ?
  14. I actually already do have a 1440p high refresh rate monitor (144 hz) and I was just wondering if I should stick with that or if it’s worth upgrading to a 4K monitor with lower refresh rate or if that’s not an upgrade at all anyway.
  15. Yeah because I was backing up what you said about that not being true.
  16. I was responding to the comment about no hardware being able to run 4K 60 FPS. ?
  17. I’m running an overclocked 8700K & 2080 Ti which can definitely handle 60fps @ 4K considering it easily manages ~150+ FPS at 1440p in all the games I play with maxed out settings.
  18. I’m pretty sure my overclocked EVGA XC2 Ultra 2080 Ti & overclocked 5GHz 8700K can run games at 4K 60fps. In able to get ~150fps on the games I play (Resident Evil 2 remake, Devil May Cry 5, WoW, Resident Evil 7, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Dark Souls 3, etc.,) with maxed out settings
  19. Thanks for your input! I would get an UWQHD monitor if I could, but sadly I just don’t have the space for a huge monitor or ultra wide monitor as you can see below. I only have space for about a 27” non-ultrawide monitor :/.
  20. I highly recommend you take a look at the MSI Optix MAG271CQR 2560x1440 27” 144hz 1ms monitor. I got one myself and I love it! As you can see the Newegg reviews average 5 stars from people like myself who have bought this monitor and it’s a high quality, high performance monitor at a great price! ? If you’re interested or have any questions about it let me know :). I can’t recommend this monitor enough!
  21. Hey guys, I have a question about monitors when it comes to gaming only: Is it better to have a higher resolution or a higher refresh rate? ? Im currently running a 1440p 144hz monitor and I’m wondering if it’s better or worse than a 4K 60 hz monitor? ?? I know everyone has their own opinions so I’m wondering what you guys think and what your opinion is? I have an 8700K & 2080 Ti so I know my PC can handle 4K 60 FPS but I’m not sure if it’s worth “upgrading” to from 1440p 144hz? Thanks!
  22. Oh ok thanks! Darn I didn’t know it was slow. I really loved playing Dark Souls and Resident Evil 2 with a wireless controller and convenience of having BT on my motherboard :/. The way my computer and desk are setup makes having wires a huge hassle so when I unplugged the controller and saw it detected by my motherboard and could play wirelessly I was so happy since I wasn’t expecting it.
  23. Hey everyone, I recently bought an MSI MEG z390 ACE (Because I got a great deal of $219.99 brand new vs. MSRP $289.99) for my new build to replace my MSI z370-a Pro and I installed it and just found out it has its own Bluetooth capability when I tried to use my Switch Pro controller on Steam. But I also noticed my old MSI z370-a Pro did not have Bluetooth capability so I’m wondering how common it is to have Bluetooth capability on a motherboard? Why do some have it and others don’t? Is it more of a thing for high end boards or is it something certain low end boards have too? Im asking because I prefer using controllers to play some Steam games rather than a keyboard & mouse and having Bluetooth on a motherboard really helps for people like me who prefer that.
  24. Oh ok, thanks! So are my ping and download/upload speeds enough for playing any online game out there? ?
