pavlosmelas replied to pavlosmelas's topic in Displays
I also saw Iiyama G-Master GB2770QSU-B5, seems to even have freesync premium pro. which is cheaper than LG UltraGear 27GP850P but more expensive than LG UltraGear 27GR75Q-B Does anyone know which display is best to get? Thanks -
Are these important things to look at in a new display?

Hi Thanks for the responses. I am looking at LG UltraGear 27GR75Q-B, MSI G272QPF or AOC Q27G2S which are all within my budget, but all these have their 'flaws' in the specs. If 8 bit is fine and doesn't make a difference compared to 10 bit/8-bit + FRC then LG UltraGear 27GR75Q-B seem to be my choice. However, if I want all the specs to be perfect then I am looking at LG UltraGear 27GP850P or Samsung G50A 27" (AG500PP), but are a bit above my budget. It is fine to spend more but only when it is really 'worth it' -
Hi there, I have a question, I am looking for a new 27 inch gaming display, my computer hardware is medium-high tier and can play most modern games at very high graphics at 75+ fps. During my search in the new display I came across a lot of things that made me not in able to find the 'ideal' display in my preferred budget, but I now wonder if some specs are even important for me or 'noticeable'. Here are a couple of things: -I want 1440p (Quad HD) - I want atleast 144 hz (probably even 75 hz is fine but most gaming displays are 144 or 165 anyway) - response time of 1ms - Freesync compatibility but preferably freesync premium (my whole live I have been running AMD graphic cards) -IPS instead of VA, as high tier VA is outside my budget and lower quality displays in VA are meh I guess Now my questions: -is 8 bit fine for a gaming monitor or is 10 bit preferred? In other words, is it even worth it spending more money for 10 bit if you have a medium core PC? What about 8-bit + FRC vs 8bit? -I see all monitors claiming 1ms response time, but some monitors say 1 ms GTG, others 1 ms MPRT but when I dig deeper these showing 1 ms MPRT are in fact 4 ms GTG. What is the difference and does it matter? -Some monitors are freesync compatible, others have freesync premium, is freesync premium really preferred when having an AMD graphics card? -Some monitors have DisplayPort 1.2a and some DisplayPort 1.4. But all say 165 or 170 hz, I thought displayport 1.2a cannot reach higher than 144hz? Does the version really matter? I also thought that displays with 1.2a and 8 bit + FRC/10 bit cannot make use of this at higher fps? I am especially doubting between 2 monitors, pretty much the same price (1440p, 27 inch): 1. has freesync premium, 1ms gtg, 165 hz, displayport 1.4, hdmi 2.0 and 8 bit. 2. has freesync compatibility, 1ms gtg, 170 hz, displayport 1.2, hdmi 2.0 and 8 bit + FRC Which one would be better with AMD graphic card? Thanks for your time!

I only worry if I ever (hopefully not) need to use the warranty/RMA the card. I am familiar with MSI but I never owned a computer component from powercolor (to be honest I never heard from them before). Does anyone has any experience or more information about that? Thanks

I saw this video that is why I was doubting to get the MSI rather than the Powercolor one:

Thanks all. Which brand should I take for rx 5700xt? MSI RX 5700XT Gaming X (2 fans) Powercolor RX 5700XT Red Devil (3 fans)

Hello, I am looking for your opinions regarding a new graphics card. I am either thinking to take a RX 5700XT again (after I returned my Sapphire nitro+ after heavy coil whine) but then another brand or to take thd GTX 2600 super. As models I am looking at the following: MSI GTX 2060 Super Gaming X (twin fan) MSI RX 5700XT Gaming X (twin fan) Powercolor RX 5700XT Red Devil (3 fans) Which one is the best to get? The advantage I think of AMD right now is the PCi 4.0, but I am not sure if it will make much of a difference. All 3 graphic cards have around a 20 euro difference in my country (Netherlands). If RX 5700 XT is better to get, than which brand + model should I take MSI or Powercolor? They both seems to be good. My build: MSI mpg X570 gaming plus Ryzen 7 3800x 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz Corsair RM650X 2018 édition Thank you all!

Hello, Recently I have bought a Sapphire nitro+ RX 5700XT, it seems to perform well, however, when the card goes above around 75 FPS, it starts to make a chirping and buzzing noise. Is this coil whine? If so, is it normal or can I better return the card? It is actually annoying me quite a bit, but when I enable vsync it is atleast a lot less bad. I still paid like 480$ for it, so I think I can of have the right to complain if this is not normal. I also read that the PSU could be the cause of the coil whine? I am not really a specialist so I hope somebody can help me. Kind regards, Pavlos

Ryzen CPU temperature fluctuations
pavlosmelas replied to pavlosmelas's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Voltage is pretty much shooting up from ~1.1 to ~1.45V or something and back again, really strange, I am doing nothing on my desktop. I guess these voltage peaks are causing the temperature fluctuations. I am using Be quiet! Dark rock CPU cooler. -
Hello, I recently build a new computer, with a ryzen 7 3800x inside (on a MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus motherboard). What I am noticing is massive temperature fluctuations in my CPU when idle. It goes from 32 degrees Celsius, to 50, again to 38, 54, 31, all within a matter of seconds, while just doing nothing on my desktop. I do not understand what is happening? I was thinking that I perhaps placed the thermal paste wrong or I installed the CPU cooler wrong but I have read more people with the new ryzen 7 3rd gen having issues with voltage peaks and temperature fluctuations. I have flashed my motherboard to the latest bios version and I also installed the chipset drivers from the AMD website. Help is really appreciated. Thank you, Pavlos

Hello there, I am new on this forum since I am looking to build a new computer during the Christmas. My computer is already 5 years old so I am really happy to finally upgrade it and my budget is quite okay, I am willing to spend around 1200-1500 euro for all components. The first problem I stumble on already is the CPU I choose, always people used to say "intel is better" but I think this is irrelevant nowadays, especially with the new Ryzen 3rd gen. I was thinking to get a Ryzen 5 3600X or a Intel i5 9600K, what is a better choice? Or could I better spend a bit more money and get the Ryzen 7 3700X or something? As a graphic card I was looking to get the RTX 5700XT or the RTX 2060 Super, but here the same question remains, what is a better choice? or any better alternatives? I look forward hearing from you all, thank you in advance.
