  1. I didn't get any input on CPU hardware section, but maybe someone here wants to discuss. I'm looking at some laptop's for university and thinking whether or not to wait for mobile ryzen (no point in buying the laptop before semester, so I can wait till 1st September). There would be some light CAD and some other stuff with making programms and testing them (I can't be more specific, because I don't know what's it gonna be like). I'm leaning towards a laptop with HQ i5 (I think it would serve well) coupled with 1050, so maybe if needed I could take leverage of cuda and could do some light gaming in the long winter evening's. Any thoughts on what could I expect from ryzen? Then again does 4 core ryzen scale against 4 core Intel in productive workloads? Finally what would be a realistic timeline to see ryzen laptops in stores and wouldn't those cost a premium at start?
  2. Well with mobos I have only experience with Asus and all of them worked perfectly. But my friend got unlucky (he had AM3+ board, but all I had were various intel socket boards(insert amd fx meme here)). I do understand how you feel (experienced it with gigabyte), but you gotta realise, that things like these happen with computers components.
  3. I've had shitty experience with some older gigabyte GPU's and swore to never use gigabyte again, then G1 gaming came along and I thought f*** it and bought it. Not a single regret. Just because you had bad experience with one product doesn't mean the whole company is shit. Also, there are so many computer parts produced, and there always are defective products that pass quality control 'n stuff.
  4. I didn't meant going like 1.5v or something like that
  5. It would be OK if he had it delidedd with CLU, otherwise it would go to high.
  6. If the temperature is low enough you can use higher voltage without concern. Higher temperature also adds more resistance, so that cripples performance. Why do you think the LN2 guys can go with extreme voltage? Because it's nice and cool @OP if you don't intend on delidding your CPU and putting CLU everywhere, then don't go over the 1.35-1.136v barrier.

  8. kek, 980 and 980Ti has more cores, not to mention 6Gb of vram on 980Ti.
  9. It voids warranty. Clearing original paste is easy. If temperature is not a problem, then there is no need for replacing it.
  10. I know why I got so high temps, it's just that original thermal paste is shit and changing it could make a drop in temperature, but if your GPU wants to pull that much wattage, then you got unlucky with your GPU.
  11. Gigabyte's factory applied thermal paste is shit. I had replaced that and I could do 1.3v without problems. In witcher 3 it ran hotter (~82oc) than usual, but it was the only game that pushed my GPU that far.
