  1. got an acer helios 300, with 1660ti and i believe an intel 9850 maybe 9750, seems to have gone down hill alot since new and performance is in and out, cod modern warfare used to run great now it jumps from running good to slightly light fps to sometimes 30-40fps even with settings lowered and alot of skipping and jittering, internet connection checks out with minimal ping and over 200mbps download 80-90mbps upload.. computers showing 91C on cpu and 86C on gpu typically when issues arise, computers stock no tuning or upgrades/ overclockes beside the factory ones and always use " turbo mode " while playing anything to max out fan speed and give slick OC, cant even play ARK now even on the lowest graphics settings i get boxxed in by invisible walls and stuttering SSD has 30gb free HD has 500gb of 1.8tb free is the issue just overheating? what options do i have for helping with this?
  2. first post on LTT forum so some leadway on my bad etiquette brand new acer helios 300 with intel 9750h and nvidia1660ti, my first computer outside of the 200$ price point so of course i get into some youtube videos and end up downloading msi afterburner and following a tutorial which pushes me to boost the gpu clock incrementally until its unstable which happens and blue screens go back in and declock it some until it runs benchmarks stably.. but after pushing the clock to the high 280ish mhz and dialing it back to 200-220 it seems nothing is running all that great.. games wont launch computer crashes frequently so i reset clock and mem clock to 0 with no improvement, try uninstalling afterburner with little impact.. end up getting games to launch and work and the problem seems to slowly dissipate but i notice the machine never quite performs as well as it did the first month unmolested it did.. graphical glitches in games lower fps ect and its using a fraction of the power where before gpu and cpu temps could be in the 90s they now seem to instantly reach 81c each and throttle right there.. system temp as measured by predator app is always in the low 60s and the area above the keyboard which used to get burn your fingerprints off hot now barely gets warm... seems the machine has given up and just jogs thru the step instead of sprinting to its max.. ive tried reinstalling afterburner and setting 190/540 overclock but no huge leaps as the helios300 will do a factory 180mhz boost under turbo mode which i run whenever i launch a game.. air is icy cold-warm where previously the laptop was heating my room faster than the oil fired furnace could playing games such as Cod MW, Ark survival evolved, Gears 5, Skyrim, Apex Legends, the outer worlds, and have noticed both thru task manager and the predator app that some games are having the cpu at 100% while the gpu is only at 50-70% loading which seems odd as i was under the impression the 1660ti was the bottleneck for most games when paired with the I7 9750h havent messed with or even opened the bios or changed anything beyond the text file for afterburner to enable the functions... any ideas on how i can test if the machine is throttling in some way or if this is somehow all in my imagination? any resets on the gpu/cpu bios or elsewhere to revert anything i may have caused
  3. could MSI afterburner permanetly effect these settings? whats the recomendation to reset everything and leave afterburner uninstalled the 180 boost from factory is plenty?
  4. I have not, how would i go about that and is it possible to do it without erasing the hard drives back to nothing... pc got all my photos n files plus game downloads since august on here fresh to PC gaming came from xbox in august, but have good trouble shooting skills if theres any paths for me to chase
