  1. Turns out this was fixed with a BIOS update. Nothing in the release notes alluded to anything related to what I was seeing and I haven't found anybody else having the same issue. Oh well. All Fixed! :)
  2. Hey All, I've had this odd issue with a self build for a while, it only ever manifests when I do an OS (Windows) restart and I thought I'd throw out a question here to see if anyone had any ideas. The spec is: 7900X (OC to 4.3Ghz) ASUS X299 Deluxe 64GB RAM OS SSD 960 Pro 512Gb NVMe There are a few other SSDs in there (all Samsung and one old OCZ) The issue is an odd one. Cold boot -> OS works fine (100%) of the time. Power down, power up work fine However, if I do Start -> Power -> ReStart this gets stuck during POST and the MB reports on it's little screen "HDD Detect Error". If I just hold the power button and ower the machine down from this state it boots fine without any issue. I've honestly no idea what to check. I've never had such an odd problem with a machine I've built before. Anyone have ideas as to what might cause this?
  3. I've actually managed to completely disabled it. I had to disable it on my motherboard BIOS as detailed above (MFC Override). And then disable and remove the windows service and the Intel Turbo Boost Max 3.0 task in the task scheduler. That seem to have finally dealt with its removal.
  4. I've since found that to disable the driver in my partricular BIOS you need to set: Advanced -> CPU Configuration -> CPU Power Management Configuration -> MFC Mode Override -> OS Native Support But no matter what I do the Intel Turbo Boost Max 3.0 software is on my system. I've removed the scheduled task many times and disabled the windows service. Nothing seems to work.
  5. Ahhh, lookee here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/security-center/advisory/intel-sa-00243.html So I guess the real question is how do I prevent Windows from reinstalling this?
  6. Hi All, UPDATED: There is a security Advisory Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 Advisory I've been checking drivers on my machine and I can't seem to find any info about this particular driver in terms of what is the latest version and how to update it. The Update Driver option in Device Manager tells me I'm running the latest version but I've seen more recent version downloads available online. I have v 1.0.0.1027 installed from 13/06/2016. Whereas pages like this seem to suggest there are more recent versions available such as 1.0.0.1029. The Intel site is, as ever, completely useless. Does anyone know what the most recent version is and how can I get it? The chipset drivers from ASUS for my board doesn't include it.
