For the longest time i have been a console gamer but due to a new job i landed i had to buy a new laptop that could handle some light video editing.
Because i could not find a laptop which had the specifications i needed i decided to have one build by a Dutch SI called BTO (Build To Order).
I ended up with a "BTO X-Book 15CL872" based on a “TongFang GK5CQ7Z” chassis, this same chasis is also used for the OverPowered Gaming Laptops sold by Wallmart that Linus recently reviewed.
My Specs:
- Intel® Core i7-8750H.
- NVIDIA GTX1060 6GB.
- 15,6 Inch144hz FHD IPS panel that comes standard whith the chasis.
- 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 (3000MHz) Ripjaws.
- 2x 250GB Western Digital Black NVMe 3.0 SSD in striping.
- 500GB 2,5" Western Digital Blue G2 Sata SSD.
- Killer AC1550 Wifi/Bluetooth.
- I had the CPU and GPU repasted by the SI aswell but offcourse there is now way for me to check this without breaking the warrenty sticker.
When i am rendering/exporting in Adobe Premiere 2019 the laptop gets very hot, HWmonitor reports max temps of 96C or 204F on some of the cores.
Eventhough its not why i bought the machine i figured i might aswell play some games on it like Farming Simulator 19 and Euro Truck Simulator 2, these are not very demanding games but the CPU again hits the same temps while the GPU hovers around 75c
The keyboard gets uncomfortably hot too, the F5 to F8 keys and the metal case just above them in particular get so hot i can barely touch them.
This is my first "Gaming" laptop so i have little reference to go on here, are these thermals normal/to be expected or should i be sending it back for warranty repairs ?
