  1. We have a new fairly high spec PC in our 'office' downstairs. I would like to keep that there and have a monitor, keyboard and mouse in my son's bedroom linked to the main PC downstairs to do his homework (Word, Excel maybe browse the internet). Is it possible to do this cheaply linking it to the main PC with a hub or very cheap PC? As you can tell I don't have a clue.... ? Thanks!
  2. I hope this makes sense and someone can help.... I built my son a PC for Christmas and as it was from Santa I named it in his name with his passcode and both his games and my games/files under that profile. Now it is after Christmas I would like to set him up his own non-admin child user log in. I know how to add him as a child user under Win10 but how do I then copy all of the games etc. to his new user profile so when he logs in he sees his desktop with all the game shortcuts there? Sorry I have come from a Mac and have not had Windows in a long time. Hope someone can help. Thanks
  3. Thanks for you thoughts, the case is an NZXT H510 therefore the bottom of the case has a PSU shroud built in with holes, I am guessing if I stuck the black card to the under side of that it would be acceptable and not come in to contact with the PSU or anything else for that matter...
  4. That is what I went for in the end, its only money and I guess that i will have a card that will last a good few years.
  5. I managed to get a fantastic price on a PSU, it is white though and my case/build is black. My PSU will vent out of the bottom of the case so my plan is to put a piece of black cardboard on the bottom of the PSU that will be facing up.... Will I burn my house down? I think the PSU will not get that hot that I can't touch it let along to the 500 degrees needed to set the card on fire?
  6. That is quite a jump! I still can't make my mind up!
  7. I am heading in that direction. I keep thinking 'the XT is ONLY £50 more' I suppose I could keep going like that and end up getting way above budget.... Thanks
  8. Only 60Hz at the moment. I am hoping that we can buy a 1440p next year but that could be a long way away... I know the vega on paper is the card to go for but it seems like old tech and uses a lot of power.... I would like to buy new, it is killing me trying to decide what to do. My budget is around £300 ($385) max so the head says 5700... For £100 less I could get the RX590..... and get a new 144hz monitor.... but that seems like not looking to the future at all.
  9. I can get both GPU's for the same price. First build, gaming in 1080p for now (as that is the monitor I have) but I am hoping to upgrade in the future, which one should I go for? Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 WINDFORCE 6GB or Gigabyte Radeon RX VEGA 64 GAMING OC 8GB Or for £50 more the Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 PULSE 8GB GDDR6 Which one should I go for? Thanks
  10. I am building a system and already have a 1080p monitor. I can get the Sapphire RX580 Nitro + for £153 ($200) or the Sapphire Pulse for £310 - $400 (Red Dragon XT card for £350 - $450) I will be gaming in 1080p for at least 6 months until I can afford a higher res monitor... My head says take the 580, I could afford the 5700 and skimp on other areas but is it really worth it with that monitor? I will be buying a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU... Thanks
  11. Thanks that would be good. I was worried the 2600 might bottleneck the 5700XT...
  12. I am going to build my first PC which will also be my son's (and mine) Christmas present. I have spent a few weeks researching and deciding on parts but I cannot decide what route to take and hope people will offer their thoughts and advice. I have a Dell 60Hz 1080p which is fine for now (plan to upgrade in the next 12 months), obviously that will restrict how far I take this, along with the budget which is around £800. He wants to play minecraft and make mods etc. I would like to play AAA games - Red Dead 2, Ghost Recon, Driving sim games. Do I: Go all out and blow the budget - Ryzen 5 3600 and RX 5700 XT (seems overkill for the monitor and way over budget but maybe worthwhile in the long run as my son gets older and in to more demanding titles..) 2600 and GTX 1660 ti (or RX equivalent?) - Middle ground 2600 and RX 590 AND upgrade the monitor to 1440p 144Hz then upgrade the GPU when we can.
