Barebone PC - AMD or Intel?
Max1996LTT replied to Max1996LTT's topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Not entirely certain yet on the budget, but yes, I am talking tiny box. -
Lately, I've been thinking about getting myself a barebone PC, but what I can't find anything on is if it's better to go AMD or Intel for something like this. My usecase would largely be browsing and watching videos, with occasional Roblox gaming. What brand, and processor, for that matter, would you guys recommend? If this isn't the best section for this kind of question, do let me know.

I've found what looks like the perfect monitor, the Philips S-Line 275S1AE.
-
Unfortunately, this is not an option. Here, that one is starting at €394.

I'm looking for a new monitor, to replace the current one I'm using. Budget: €250 Desired specs: 27", 2560x1440, IPS, at least 75 Hz, height adjustable. Country: Netherlands

Back in March of last year, I purchased a 23,8" 1440p IPS (Philips 245E1S) monitor, to upgrade from a 1080p TN one of the same physical size. At the time, this was the largest size that my desk could easily accommodate. However, I since got a larger desk. That, combined with the recommended 125% scaling on this current monitor and the lack of height adjustment, is why I'm starting to wonder whether to stick with this current one or switch to a 27" 1440p monitor (with height adjustment) instead. What do you people suggest?
-
There (likely) isn't any upgrading possible for that sort of thing, period.
-
All in one? As in, desktop and monitor combined?
-
And you're getting not only good cooler recommendations, but good recommendations for your whole system.
-
Don't drag me into this! It's not!

...You did not just recommend an SSHD, did you?

Would it be enough of a difference to justify spending more on 3200 MHz over 3000? Or doing actual OCing to get it to 3200?
-
Update: It occurred to me that the apparent difference between benchmark speeds and real transfer speeds could be caused by me transferring it from an HDD. To test this, I put the same 10,9 GB file onto my boot SSD (NVMe), before transferring it to the external SSD from there. The result, a write speed of between 300 and 310 MB/s.

For data back-up purposes, I ordered the SilverStone MS09, an enclosure that, by putting in a M.2 SATA SSD, you can make into a semi-DIY USB flash drive. The SSD of choice was the WD Blue 1 TB. The pictures above are of the Black variant of the MS09. Unfortunately, it proved to be defective, which is why I sent it back to the store I bought it from. As an alternative, I ordered the Aluminium variant (not pictured). Once I determined that the Aluminium variant works perfectly, I moved onto benchmarking, using CrystalDiskMark. While these speeds look great, in practice it was considerably lower. Testing it with a 10,9 GB file, I got around 150 MB/s. Aside from that, it works perfectly fine, provided I actually plug it into the USB 3.1 port in my desktop's rear IO.

Please disregard all of Goku's suggested parts lists, as none of them take your country and, thus, currency, pricing and availability into account.

That would be different from the LTT Discord server...how?
