  1. Are you sure the case fan controller is actually connected to your PSU. It's not like it can power itself up just from connecting the lead. You still need it to be connected to the PSU.
  2. Of course. But you only get 1 key. If you use the same key for more than 1 computer it will be invalidated. Since you are buying a regular retail key, you can always get the windows 10 license transferred from one computer to another if you decide to throw away an old computer or if you change your motherboard (changing motherboards can invalidate non-retail keys. You can always get a cheaper OEM/System builder license, but be aware that like I said changing motherboards could invalidate your key, and depending on where you get the key from, the key could have been obtained illegally (meaning that Microsoft can one day decide to make your windows 10 license invalid because you bought it from a fraudulent seller)
  3. Are you REALLY sure you need a X99 motherboard and LGA 2011 CPU? For gaming those 6 core or 8 core LGA 2011 CPU make absolutely NO difference (in fact the performance is often worse because of the lower clock speed per core) Unless money is really of no concern to you, I would get an i7 6700k, and consequently a cheaper Z97 motherboard and then spend the money you saved on things that will actually improve your user experience more in a tangible way, such as a good pair of speakers/headphones or a high-res IPS monitor.
  4. Since it's the same price get the USB version. USB flash drives are much faster for installing an OS than a CD. And if it's the same price of course you could make your own Windows 10 install USB drive, but why do that if you can get it for free? Maybe it's even possible to format them later if you ever want to use it as a spare USB drive.
  5. The question is why the hell anybody would consider a canon in 2015. Canon has failed to progress like all the other companies. They rely on their name only while they keep making stuff that is subpar for this day and age. This goes for both their low end DSLRs and their high end ones. Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Fujifilm etc.. have made tremendous strides while Canon has just been sitting on their asses for the last couple years.
  6. Basically if you want to see if your GPU is bottlenecked, compare your results to someone testing that graphics card with a beast of a CPU and compare your framerate to that test.

  8. I thought you already had your kid in Switzerland last week? Wasn't the the reason you were nowhere to be seen for 10 days?
  9. No, not any smartwatch for that matter.
  10. I was confused by the title of the video haha. I thought it had something to do with Keys from NCIX using the mic.
  11. That's just the auto bidding system, they aren't actually bidding in $1 increments, but rather someone else is bidding but that person has auto bids set up to a higher price so it just one ups them automatically every time.
  12. That's what receivers or amps are for.
  13. Yes that's what I meant. The quality of the songs uploaded on YouTube. Not the selection, because you can actually found some obscure hard to find tracks on YouTube that you would never find on iTunes or Spotify.

  15. Is there any reason you really want a gaming laptop? For the $1600 dell is offering you, you could easily get both an ultrabook and a very powerful desktop with an r9 290 or GTX 970. You would get two machines as well. Here's an idea of what you could get for $700. You can easily get a GTX 970 at that price including an SSD and the whole shabang. Keep in mind that the dekstop 970 is a lot faster than a laptop. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/wjcpJx if your concern is bringing your computer to friend's houses and whatnot, then you could easily get a very small itx build in an ML07B for not much more than the build above.
  16. Dear god no don't do that. Basically all good speakers you need an amp for. It's a lot more simple than you would think. Use wire cutters or scissors and simply remove the silicone coating on the cable after cutting it to your preferred length. Then just plug it into the appropriate colored connectors on both the speakers and the amp. This speaker wire would be perfect for you: http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-16-Gauge-Speaker-Wire-Feet/dp/B006LW0W5Y/ Then all you need is a decent amp: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MUSE-M50-TPA3123-2x50w-T-AMP-MINI-Stereo-Amplifier-S-/250879380212 and a 3.5mm M to M cable to connect to your PC, cell phone etc... http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=3.5mm+male+to+male&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3A3.5mm+male+to+male Trust me, it's a lot easier than it sounds and any non-powered speakers are always a better idea.
  17. Sure it does. But that doesn't mean it's inadequate if you're just web browsing 80% of the time and don't live in sweltering heat. And either way my point is just that buying overclockable CPUs, expensive beefy CPU coolers and wasting so much power for a small gain is not desirable for many PC buildings budgets.
  18. Frankly I think you're asking too much. You either go for thin, light, long battery life. or you go for heavy, powerful and large screen. It's kind of a paradox to ask for a very powerful gaming laptop in a portable form factor. In my opinion it's a much better idea to get a laptop that does one thing best. So either a very light, very thin laptop for school use etc.. or a very powerful, very big laptop that will be perfect for at home use and going to friend's houses from time to time. By looking at something that's in betwen these two you end up with something that's mediocre in both terms. It's not light or thin enough to be truly portable like an ultrabook, and not a good value performance wise to be a good gaming laptop.
  19. Check this thread first and answer the questions in a new post. Can't help you much if we have to ask you 20 questions first. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/
  20. There is a gigantic difference between the 970m and the 960m performance wise. For that price I'm sure you can find 970m laptops and that would be a much better idea, since after all you cannot upgrade your graphics card later down the line with a laptop so it's wise to pick a very good laptop GPU. Don't let the haggling trick you, dell probably sold the laptop for less in the past, they always try to pass things off as a good deal even when they're not necessarily. Only way to know is to compare to previous prices on the same laptop you see on sites like slickdeals.
  21. Yeah a lot of pop is poorly mastered and has next to no dynamic range. Then again it sounds like a convoluted nonstop mess even if it is well mastered so I guess po(o)p music is a lot more forgiving for shitty headphones or shitty sources.
  22. Overclocking CPUs has always been an enthusiast thing that for the most part has more drawbacks than benefits. Higher heat and much higher power consumption, need to buy expensive heatsinks or coolers, and a large amount of time to tinker. Not to mention the need to buy CPUs that cost a lot more just to be able to overlcock. Sure it's nice to show off and all, and if you have the money then by all means do it for that extra little performance. But I don't recommend it for any budget under around $1200 (with the exceptions such as the g3258). People seem to have finally come to their senses and stop recommending overclocked i5s and $50 cpu coolers for $700 builds. It just makes no damn sense when a stock cooler and i5-4460 would give you nearly the same performance and you could allocate the rest of the money to so many other things to actually improve your experience or performance.
  23. I don't recommend audioengine a5+ at all. Teac LS-H265 is what I recommend for speakers under $200. They're on sale right now at the website below so check em out! http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/teaclsh265a/teac-ls-h265-2-way-5-1/4-in-reference-bookshelf-speakers-pair-black/1.html Edit: Do not recommend bose either. Terrible value.
  24. I'm not even one those advocates for loss-less audio like many "audiophiles" are, I think the difference between a well encoded AAC or MP3 file and a FLAC or apple lossless file is negligble and you wouldn't even be able to tell it in a blind test. Even though you might have some good quality tracks, we have to face that youtube is the most popular music platform in the world now and that 90% of the music you'll find on youtube sounds like utter junk.
