As a person who uses a macbook air and an ipad for design work, I wouldn't get this product because of reasons that Maria mentioned. That said, I feel this video was alright and it showed me the flaws and not-ideal price. Sure Plouffe triggered some people but I also felt he wasnt the right person to be unboxing this thing.

It's funny people were criticizing LMG for not being truthful. They already showed the flaws and the price of the product. If they were untruthful, all these wouldn't even appear in the video. I'm sure people can make a decision for themselves rather than depend on the opinion of someone (Plouffe) who obviously does not draw for a living. Besides, Maria already said she'd just prefer an ipad so I'm not sure what people are actually unhappy about.

Ludwig has been 100% honest and open about where he sources his bidets from day one. Your attitude here just seems unhinged. He has even linked to the shop page of the OEM's version if you want that over his.

Here is one of his videos time stamped for you where he talks about it. I just knew the keywords to pull it up immediately

As a Floatplaner who has watched the interview, it's nothing serious. It's mostly just 2 old friends reminiscing about old NCIX times and laugh about Terren Tong's first weeks amidst all the August chaos. They also talked about their favourite games, just like any other "Meet-the-team".

    They owe the fans nothing.

This reminded me of a guy gifting flowers/rings/car to a girl and getting all upset because the girl didn't love him back.

lol at "false advertising". False advertising meant that the advertiser deliberately and intentionally made a false or misleading statement. The real funny part is that Linus expose this issue himself cutting the bag live. I don't think you can ever call that false advertising. You're getting emotional here.

It's not like the bottom layer is going to wear out under normal use. And if it did, you can get a NEW and FREE replacement bag!

And at the end of the day, if you're not happy you can just refund it. So I'm not sure what laws you are talking about.

I think this is highly unlikely due to the associated costs. It's like providing a new backpack for tens of thousands of buyers, covering the shipping cost for all of their returns and they end up with a warehouse full of used backpacks.

so.. you equate your experiences on an anonymous online forum that is free to join, to the working atmosphere at a video production company in vancouver?

on that note - i sort of hope they dont end up publishing anything for this very reason. no matter the outcome, it'll only pull more angry idiots with keyboards to the topic, and send death threats both directions. i believe they are committed to go trough the process with the external party behind closed doors, and act on the results where necessary.

publishing would be good for transparency, but there is literally not a single possible result they can post, where no innocent party will wake up to an inbox of death threats. the internet simply cant have nice things.

and just to clarify - i'm certain there will at least be some minor remarks, just statistically speaking there *has* to be some tension somewhere in a business of that scale, but the facts are that (especially for tech..) they have a quite diverse workforce, and i dont believe that could actually happen if there were structural problems. which - yvonne is at least as in charge as linus is.. do you actually think she would let this happen?

crazzp reacted to LAwLz in YouTube Ramps Up "1080p Premium Enhanced Bitrate" scheme. Retroactively Reducing Bitrate On Many Videos.
Here is another video which showed some interesting results.
3Blue1Brown - Gradient descent, how neural networks learn | Chapter 2, Deep learning

    I downloaded this video 2018-05-11.
    My 1080p version (VP9) (WebM)- 723 kbps
    1080p version downloaded today (VP9) (ID 248, WebM) - 616 kbps
    1080p version downloaded today (VP9) (ID 614, MP4) - 647 kbps
    1080 Enhanced (VP9) - 1559 kbps

So this is one video where it seems like something has happened to the VP9 file.
The new 1080p version seems to have a lower bit rate than the old 1080p version.
Just to be clear, the "enhanced" version still looks way better than the old 1080 version and it is 100% for certain that there is no "YouTube is putting the old quality behind a paywall" going about. The "enhanced" version is a brand new file that didn't exist before and it is higher quality that what we could view before. The conspiracy theory should die. It's still bullshit.

But it seems like YouTube has changed their VP9 encoder and reencoded videos.
In the case of the 3blue1brown video it seems like this change happened 2023-12-11. The timestamp says the exact time and date I downloaded it on though, so that's weird. Not sure if that's a bug, or an indication that there is something weird at play here. I doubt it just so happened that they reencoded the video exactly when I downloaded it.

I'll try and look into this more but it is however important to note that the reduced bit rate might not mean the quality is lower. Google's VP9 encoder was not exactly great before, and it might just be that it was very inefficient on a "bit to quality" ratio. So there is a possibility that they are fixing this with their new encoder.
This seems to only apply to VP9 files though. AVC files are untouched, and the "Enhanced 1080p" are brand new files, not relabeled.
