Actually, sorry for the psu thing. I misread it as corsair vs. Tge coolermaster v is a good one.
I've looked at some gpu benchmarks and it seems vega cards do quite well for their price. Vega 64 beats the rtx 2060, so i would expect vega 56 to be significantly better than the 1660 super/ti. See if you can find it.

I tend to lean EVGA for nvidia cards just generally speaking. Their mid tier options are usually pretty inexpensive.

SC Ultra should be above SC/Black Gaming but below ftw. SC Ultra is a great cooler.

yeah, I'd say your assumptions are right.

It can maybe beat the Gigabyte OC and TUF Two fan, not sure how it compares to the Dual and Tuf 3 fan. Asus' track record this time isn't so good though so I'll still stick to the Zotac Twin, just because I know how it performs.

    @minibois
Because, if a video card only supports 1 LUT for the entire card (regardless of how many heads it has), the card can only effectively handle one color calibrated display.

Here's a quick blurb about LUT from Xrite - a color calibration company.

On that note, no matter how many ICC profiles Windows seems to allow users to attach to one graphics card, the graphics card can only support as many color calibrated displays as the number of LUT the card actually supports.

But I just found out that none of this matters anymore.... I just got off live chat with Nvidia.
So..apparently NONE of the Geforce cards support LUT. So I can't color calibrate even ONE monitor.

This hurts my soul......i'm hurting real bad. That rtx 2070 super (my main card I intend on using for graphic arts) wasn't cheap. lots of FFFFFF going on in my heart (apologies for twitch chat language)

That is SO MUCH WORSE than AMD if we're talking about LUT support, because the radeon line supports one and their firepro (competes against quadro) supports two --- source from AMD forum.

^The above thread is quite old, but the same answer is given in another thread about how many lut RX 480 supports.

Just want to add that the price is MSRP for those cards, so it's not a deal. Still better than the 1650 Super.

GPU cooler tier list is stupid IMO. The SC ultra is a decent card, but the cooler is meh. It has 2 small fans, and a small heatsink and only a pair of heatpipes. The Gaming X has a substantially larger heatsink and fans. Go with that one, it has a better PCB too. Better cooling = quieter

thanks! the more i think about it..as much as i want the latest flashy things, the best approach is probably throwing the money i'd spend for 1 more m.2slot towards 1660 super. The prices of gpus make my jaw drop

You can use 3600MHz, they're just not bothered to list every single speed bin there is.

Mine were A tier until recently. Magically turned to shit in the blink on an eye. Interestingly enough they work perfectly still, so they must not have got the memo.

could also wait for the 5500 release, or looked for used 1070 or vega 56. also, how much is a new rx580? could also look at the new 1650 super

    Hey all,

I'm building a new pc that I plan on using  for simple animation and graphics art - so Clip studio pro, blender, w/e open source alternative to After Effects there is, maybe verve painter

Currently, I have chosen the following components:
Mobo - B450 Tomahawk Max (new) CPU - Ryzen 5 3600X (new) GPU - Rx 570? It's not the best but I'm on a budget, and my current one is GTX 660 PSU - EVGA G3 850W  (grabbing from previous build) Some SSDs (already have) I know 3600 CL16 or 3400 CL14 would be way better but that's out of my budget..
32GB Ram would be nice to have..but I think I'll stick with 16GB to stay in budget

I have a choice of getting Corsair Vengence LPX 16GB for ~$115 vs G.Skill RipJaws V 16GB for ~$85 (all currencies in CAD)

Albeit looser timings on 3600 CL16, the 3600mhz ram seems to be better than 3400 CL14, and I've read that Ryzen likes higher ram speeds.
But I'm not sure whether this improvement is worth the extra $30...

    * note I've never OC'ed nor tighten ram timings to this day, but I think I'll try tightening ram timings this time, since it seems to help quite a bit.

    Thank you all in advance!

    *update*
Just discovered that Corsair Vengence LPX doesn't have a QVL. I never knew about QVL until today, and I read that Ryzen can be picky about rams, so I'll go with RipJaws V which coincidentally has a QVL that includes the Tomahawk Max. The next option for 3600 Cl18 ram would be G.skill Trident Z at ~$125..that's really making me doubt the cost to performance ratio..so I'll go for the cheaper 3200 Cl16 as suggested.

    Thanks!
