So I went a little stir crazy while Isolating myself in these funky times.

Decided to make my own keyboard layout from scratch and hand wire a prototype.

She isn't the prettiest gal in the ball but she's definitely one of a kind, and I can really call her mine.

MOMOKA Flamingo Linears / Kailh speed Pinks
1.6mm 5052 Brushed aluminium plate laser cut by a third party and (poorly) hand bent by me.
Some 3d Printed PLA supports (will be revised, way too much flex from side to side)
    Maxxkey Blue/Cream SA Doubleshot keycaps
    Durock Plate Mount Stabilizers
A metric ton of wires (that will be revised eventually for better organization)
    And a Teensy++2.0 microcontroller.

Not sure what to call it just yet.

    Have my baby ❤️

It's a custom keyboard using the IDOBAO ID80 V2 ISO, Tribosys 3203 lubed Glorious Pandas (tactile switches with a strong tactile bump) and modifier keys are springswapped with 16mm 90g springs, Tai Hao Bright Miami PBT Keycaps, Durock V2 Stabilisers holee modded and lubed, Resin Wristrest

It's my second custom keyboard I ever made and I love it so much. The Enter key stab unfortunately didnt turn out well, trying to find the motivation to fully take apart my keyboard to fix that stab.

I just got my Ducky One 2, 100%, pudding edition yesterday.  I'm very happy with it.  Silent Red is the perfect switch.  Very similar feel to the membrane on my Rii RK-900 as far as tactile feel and force required.  Excellent buy at $150, considering it already had the keycaps I wanted, the switches I wanted, and all the RGB functionality I can shake a stick at.

Took a photo of old and new.  I still think the RK-900 is a fantastic keyboard, and would heartily recommend it for a budget solution to anyone.  Still works great after 3+ years of gaming and 0 issues.

That said, the Ducky is just a bit more crisp, snappier, less play in the keys (actual MX caps, vs whatever the Rii keycaps are).  And the RGB is per-key, where the Rii only had full-board presets.  In fact my only quibbles about the Ducky are that the CAPS LOCK key is only a "down arrow" key, and the keyboard didn't come with any other options (like text, similar to what the Rii has).  And some case/frame options would have been nice.  I get that TKL and 60% keyboards are "master race".  Just feels like there's no love when us 100% die hards have precisely....ZERO options.  If I want a clear/translucent case, I'll have a better chance at retrofitting an old M7803 case to fit--than I will of finding a 100%, (104)  frosted acrylic case.  You would have thought that getting one 3D printed would be fairly straightforward, as only the CAD files would be needed.  No excessive runs of stock that can't be sold.  And minimal R&D, since it's literally just adding on the numpad on an existing TKL design.  le sigh.

I've only used Razer and Logitech's in house switches, and the gateron milk blacks in my custom. I went to my friends house, and tried out his corsair keyboard. I had no idea what switches he had. I tried out what I assumed were cherry reds, but they felt a little scratchy. I was certain they were linear though. Nope. They were mx browns. Coming from a blind test, I legitimately thought they were some cheap scratchy linear switch.

The IBM 5576-C01 from 1994. A Japanese-exclusive Model M-based keyboard that to my knowledge was made specifically for a single system - IBM PS/55E, an all-in-one PC. It’s most likely the rarest TrackPoint keyboard IBM made.

An interesting fact is that its moulds were used to later produce the Unicomp EnduraPro (pictured below as the black keyboard on the right), Ultra Classic and SpaceSaver M keyboards. The most notable feature is perhaps its large rotating stand. It can be used to park the keyboard on its back well, I’m guessing to allow you to increase space on your desk as needed. It’s cool, though. Very cool!

Since a couple days ago, i finally became the proud owner of the JTK Tian Wen set including the special edition BBOX60 case.
I waited close to half a year for this set, and i think it's one of the best looking sets out there! The BBOX60 gives it a lovely retro look because of the big bezels, and the caps are thick, quality caps that give the board a lovely sounding 'thock'.

Lets modify this set to be wireless! 😄

    The board now
Kailh heavy Box Burnt Orange switches
    Brass plate
    GH60 PCB
    JTK Tian Wen caps
    BBOX60 case

I really want to keep this layout, with the arrow cluster in a 60% footprint.
So here's what i wanna do:

    The plan
The coolermaster SK622 is a wireless keyboard with the same layout i want to keep on my board.
I'll gut the coolermaster board to harvest the wireless PCB/battery. swap out the plate and switches for the brass plate and new Kailh Box Blacks.
The coolermaster board has the USB connector on the wrong place, but because of the retro bezels of the BBOX60 case i can just use a USB extender cable to re-route it to the proper spot.

And if everything goes to plan, my little board should be wireless!
Depending on how much room i have left in this case, i want to fill it up with some acoustic foam aswell.

So that's it for now, the new switches and donor board are on their way. Expect updates soon!

I ran into this problem (from Alberta), I ended up ordering from amazon.com and having it shipped to Canada. I went with g205, it was about $15 USD, but the price was doubled with shipping and import fees. It arrived over a month after the rest of my parts, so I couldn't build it for a while. My grandparents had given me an American amazon gift card (why I chose this route) but the HUGE shipping time and fees and lack of selection sucks. If I were to do this again, I would go through one of the vendors @geo3or @DailyProcrastinatorrecomended.

Edit: my order from KBDFans arrived in about a week from china, even after going through Customs. The lube sat in a warehouse for a month and a half and then shipped in about a week. Shows the level of care you get with a smaller company VS amazon.

So I put a solenoid on my Focus lel
I need to do a third revision of the driver board and also test with the Aliexpress solenoids when they arrive but for now it's working great and entirely powered over PS/2. I am gonna try to get the capacitor charging with less current so I have more headroom especially with Focuscalc running but it's fine for now.
